Sushi and authentic Thai cuisine

History

Established in 2015.

Like the legend of the phoenix, the story of Sapporo is one of rebirth. In October 2015, after a brief hiatus, we re-opened under new ownership with a fresh, inspired menu. Today, our great-tasting sushi creations combine the best of eastern and western flavors, and our authentic Thai selections come from our own family recipes meticulously curated and perfected over several generations.

We invite you to experience our pleasant, tranquil atmosphere. Perfectly arranged for singles, couples, families, and groups, Sapporo features versatile table seating. There is additional space at our full-service sushi bar and carry-out service for people on the move.

Our restaurant is family owned and managed, and we are proud residents of the local community. Providing high quality food and service is our passion, so your comments, suggestions and reviews are always welcome. We are pleased to offer you a sampling of Asian culture and cuisine right here in Westerville, Ohio.

Meet the Business Owner

Ngamta T.

Business Owner

Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Ngamta «Mint» Tanglain relocated to the United States five years ago to pursue a lifelong dream of introducing American audiences to authentic Thai cuisine. She worked hard as a server at the Green Papaya and at Ruthai’s Kitchen, two of Cincinnati’s most popular sushi and Thai restaurants saving up for the right opportunity. The moment came in September 2015, when Sapporo Sushi Factory was put up for sale by its previous owner. Siezing the opportunity, Mint teamed up with her family, moved to Westerville, and purchased the business at 732 North State Street determined to reinvigorate the Sapporo brand. Such an audacious work doesn’t come without its share of challenges. Only days prior to the October 1 reopening, saddening reviews of the prior food and service began to surface. Undaunted, Mint, her brother Might, her sister Bee, and their spouses forged ahead to put their signature on this uncut Westerville gem, celebrating a successful opening.
