Kennedy’s changed everything about getting a haircut when they entered my world. First off, the place is stunning. All the staff there are ready to pamper you, and they even have a billiards table and bar in the back room.
I’ve never had a better haircut in my life. No regrets about going; my face is super smooth, and I’m looking, smelling, and feeling great. I’m sure to be back again in the future. :)

I really love this place! It’s great coming here after work, have a beer, get my beard done. Cathy did my first haircut plus beard bonus when i first joined maybe 2 years ago. She was out for a few months due to having a baby (congrats!). I’m so happy to see that she’s back. She always has a smile on her face and she does a fabulous job. Cathy even remembered the trimmer size used on my beard while she away on maternity leave! Since this place is so popular, I recommend calling ahead. I make several appointments in advance so it’s no problem. I highly recommend Kennedy’s!

Got a gift card for my dad. The staff was super nice, very friendly. The place was spotless to be honest, I was very impressed. They offered me some coffee and it was so good! My dad is definitely going back! Thanks guys!

I am extremely impressed with the service that I received at Kennedy’s. I recently relocated to the area from Miami and have been desperately searching for a good barber. To be honest I am extremely picky and specific when it comes to how my beard is maintained and the hot towel process. I was accustomed to amazing service from Miles and Lyles in Aventura, FL and suffered finding someplace comparable. I haven’t submitted negative reviews for other shops in NJ due to my understanding of my own specific expectations and because I understand that most may not be nearly as obsessed or involved with the treatment of their beards, but I digress. When I arrived, my barber was waiting for me and greeted me by name. Lara spent a good deal of time understanding what I was looking for in a haircut and then proceeded to provide me some candid feedback of what would work best for my hair. The first issue being the previous mistakes made by other barbers and subsequently how to best manage my hair. We determined that it was best to let certain areas grow out in order to allow for the errors to be corrected. Her attention and consultation was greatly appreciated and I am looking forward to my next haircut.
During my haircut I also spent a lot of time speaking to her about my expectations for the beard trim/​shave as well as what I had grown accustomed to. Based on our conversation the decision was made to change the barber who was going to do my beard from the person I had the original appointment with to someone who would best fit my needs and expectations. I found this to be a very big deal because I was one of the last appointments of the day and I’m certain that Sam didn’t intend to stay as late as he did; it was greatly appreciated. Sam, the shop «Beard King» modified his schedule in order to accommodate me shortly before closing. The shave was exactly what I needed!!! Again, he spent time speaking to me about what I ultimately desired and once again gave candid recommendations to allow it to grow out a little more before trimming it. He made sure that the hot towels were used at the right times, used a steamer throughout the process to ensure that the pores remained opened for the closest possible shave. He shaved once along the grain and once against all the while preventing any type of irritation. We finished as would be expected with a cold towel and I felt like a new man. While all the specifics may seem unimportant to most, this is what sets Kennedy apart from the 4 or 5 other self proclaimed beard shops in the area. I have driven over an hour to a shop in order to get a good shave which turned out to be mediocre at best and now I don’t have to. I haven’t become a member yet but I will definitely join during the next visit. I can’t wait to go there and get back into my usually grooming schedule.

I’ve been a member at kennedy’s for a little over two years. I usually see Cathy but now she is out for maternity leave so I go see Laura every week. Both of them do an incredible job. During my time as a member, I’ve received cuts from all the staff members at one point or another and never had a complaint.
When I first called to schedule a cut I was concerned by the price of one cut but they recommended me to come in to learn about a membership… I received my cut and was given the full service… haircut, straight edge shape up, wash and dry which included an AMAZING hand massage and then Cathy finished by styling my hair with product… the complete package to say the least… as you can tell, I left as a member and now go back every week to get the same experience as the first day I stepped foot inside… it’s worth every penny especially if you care to stay looking sharp 7 days a week.
The owner Marc, holds quarterly networking events at the barbershop as well. He’s had everything from whiskey tasting, vodka tasting, cigar sampling to food sampling and that’s just a few. He allows you to bring whoever you like as well, never costs a penny… it’s really more of a life style/​experience/​community as opposed to just a membership.
I’ve met some great friends at Kennedy’s and have told Marc and his team that unless I ever have to move out of state I will be a member for life.

I have been a member at Kennedys for over 2 years and have been very happy with the quality and overall service received from all the staff. From the moment I walk in, I am always offered a coffee and then I treated to a great haircut and shave by Sammy who consistently pays great attention to detail and always looking to ensure I am satisfied with the haircut and shave. I’d highly recommend Kennedys for those in the Westfield area who want a high quality haircut and shave experience!

More buck than bang.
Based on other reviews, I decided to make an appointment at this upscale barbershop to get a haircut and shave before heading off to my destination wedding.
When I arrived, I had to wait 10 minutes beyond the starting time for my scheduled appointment — this was not an issue.
When the barber was ready he called me over and asked me what I’d like done. I told him a haircut and a shave and his response was «I don’t have time to shave you.» Why not I said? He had another appointment (which was a no-​show or at least 15 minutes late).
This was followed up with a bad haircut. The barber seemed like he couldn’t focus on cutting my hair. This was verified by my fiancées comment: «it looks like the barber missed a spot.»
I’d recommend not wasting your time or money at this barber shop. You can definitely get a better haircut for less than half the money somewhere else.

Best haircut and straight razor shave in NJ or NY. Best authentic old school experience. They have cigar and scotch nights for members. Pool table, bar and tvs in the back. Card room. Complementary beer. You can leave your own bottles under the bar, just label them. Professional people, Katie, Marie, Sammy. Make a reservation, this place is popular!!!

Kennedy’s has been my «go to» place since it first opened. I had been looking for a place that does straight razor shaves right for several years, and had been anxiously awaiting the opening of this shop as soon as I heard about it.
I was hooked from my first visit. Everyone there is extraordinarily friendly, accommodating and talented. Every time I visit (which is about twice a week), I feel like I’m a welcome member of the family. The shop is always immaculately clean and the staff attentive.
Sammy has been my main barber from the beginning and he knows my face like his own. Shaves are smooth and nick-​free, even with my tough beard. He does an amazing job.
Maria takes care of the other services I get, and she is fantastic!
In addition to having a great back room to hang out in before or after appointments, they have great member events every few months. It’s a nice way to meet new people and even do some networking!
Kennedy’s is a great experience and I’ll be a member for life!

BEST PLACE TO GET A CUT & SHAVE! Sam is the man and the staff is attentive to my needs. Massage, Beverage, Wax, Man-​e-​Cure. The ultimate place for a mans hygiene needs. Plus, I can get my coffee or beer and keep my whiskey here. Didn’t mean to rhyme… lol No waiting in lines either, I can just call and schedule or set up repeating schedules.

I continue to enjoy this place. The service is top notch and the member events are great. I highly recommend Kennedy’s to any guy looking for a quality haircut and shave. It’s a terrific overall experience.

I would like to start this review by saying that many of the haircuts I got at Kennedy’s over the last few months were great. Juan in particular seems especially talented – accurate, quick, and looks good.
My biggest beef with Kennedy’s was the treatment I received after I decided to shell out $ 100 a month for their Pursuit of Happiness package. It is supposed to include a free signature service (shave or mini-​facial) each month, as well as a free beverage each visit.
The biggest reason I became displeased with the membership is getting an appointment to use my membership was difficult. When I signed up they made it seem like I could occasionally drop by to use their services as a member, but the two times I tried to do walk in services the folks there acted like it was an impossible inconvenience for them to work me in. Even when I had an appointment, they seemed constantly understaffed and scrambling to do basic things like answer the phone. I felt stupid paying them for haircuts that they actually would not allow me to schedule. This limited the use I could get from the membership.
The first few times I made haircut appointments with Kennedy’s, I was asked what signature service I would want. I would respond that I would take a shave and plan accordingly. The first few times my haircut would be over and the stylist would be ready to escort me to the door when I would have to remind them about the shave. Twice the person who cut my hair could not give me a shave, so I had to wait around while someone who could give me a shave would be freed up. They seemed generally annoyed to have to provide a shave and I wasn’t particularly excited that I was paying more money to try and obtain a service they didn’t want to provide to me.
As far as the drinks go, no one ever offered me a drink after my initial appointment. I heard about supposed free beer, but I have no idea where I was supposed to obtain this mystical brew. I did see a little Heineken mini-​keg once way in the back of the store (in which case, I will pass on the free beer). I assumed that hospitality was part of what you are also paying for as a member, but apparently not.
I wanted to cancel the membership after two months, but when I called to do so, they said I had to visit the store in person to cancel. This led to me paying for another month so I could find the time to cancel in person.
If you are looking for a good haircut, I would recommend Kennedy’s. Don’t get suckered into the membership option – it is not worth it and it is NOT more convenient in any way.

I was a walk-​in to this place back in February a few weeks before my wedding and I saw the «grand opening» sign. Sammy did an amazing job, and I bought the membership and have been going back since. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed and friendly, and I really appreciate Dania and the rest of the staff taking the time to chat with their customers. Seriously, they know everyone by name.

I just moved to Westfield and had to find a barbershop and was fortunate enough to stumble into Kennedy’s. Unlike most barbershops you buy a membership (although you can pay for just a haircut) and get unlimited haircuts, and potentially straight edge shaves and salon services for the month. There are different tiers to the membership but I have the basic one. The front of the store has the stations for getting your haircut or the straight edge shaves (which I’m anxious to try but have not yet), and in the back they have a poker room, pool room, bar (always with a beer on tap), and lockers you can store your own bottles of liquor if you want. The vibe is great, everyone is friendly and calls you by name when you walk in. They throw monthly events (so far Scotch and Whisky tastings), and I’ve brought my friends here to play pool and watch basketball on occasion. Definitely more than a barbershop, its a men’s club. It is right across from the train station so the other afternoon I came in because my wife was stuck in traffic and I had to burn 15 minutes. Everyone said hi to me (by name) when I walked in the door and the owner offered to pour me a beer. We chatted and I met another guy who was just hanging out and talked till my wife drove up.
I should probably mention the haircut experience:
I’ve been getting 2 per month given the unlimited nature of the subscription. I usually get a (free) beer while I wait and then when its time for me to get my haircut they do an exceptional job. I’ve started to book with Kathy more than anyone else, but everyone seems to be very good. The best part is the shampoo and scalp/​face AND hand massage at the end of the haircut. So relaxing.
Net-​net: its definitely more expensive than I’m used to paying for a haircut, but its a totally different type of experience and I’m very happy to be a member.

I used Kennedy’s as a place for my groomsmen and I to prep the morning of my wedding. We all got straight razor shaves and hung out in the back club. We were happy with our experience — Dania, the manager, was very easy to work with and accommodated every request I had. Their prices were reasonable for the group ($ 35 per shave I believe) and they were kind enough to offer me a complimentary haircut and shave! The back room is fun to hang out in with your male friends and has pool, TV, poker, seating, and a bar, all available to anyone on either a walk in basis or if you join the barber club. My only critique is that some of our shaves did not remove all of our facial hair — they could have done a bit of a better job on this point. However the haircut I received was one of the best.

I was a walk in, the experience may be different if one made an appointment with one of the stylists. The haircut was fine, better yet, it was quick. I wanted to get a quick haircut on a Sunday afternoon. It’s not so much the quality of the cut, so much as the price. $ 45 for a men’s haircut seems a bit steep to me. In NYC the going rate is $ 20 or so for this level of hair cut.
I did take advantage of the Unilocal Check in offer of free silk knot cufflinks though. That was cool.
