This review is based on the customer service and cleanliness. First off the ladies here are extremely rude, disrespectful, and unfriendly. I know most would say«that’s how Asian stores are» but I’m sorry if you can’t behave in a respectful manner then maybe you shouldn’t run a business that involves customer service. The store is a mess and looks like a storage room rather than a «bakery» I won’t be returning here.

I bought 30 pair of banh hoi/banh com for my wedding 7 years ago and was really satisfied with their products ever since. The tips for their banh hoi and banh com to harden up after freshly baked is put them in the fridge over night. I have been buying cha bong(shredded pork), banh gai, nuoc mia, tamarind… every time I visit OC and really satisfied with their products. Try them out if you are in a market for bakery products.

My mom asked me to buy 30 banh com here. She says it’s really close to the stuff you get from Vietnam. While there I tried their nuoc mia which tasted like it had a hint of lemon in it and not overly sweet. It was pretty ok. I’m not a large drink ordering kind of person, but the lady up sold me to large because it was full of ice. However, when I got the large I couldn’t finish it.

Unfortunately, this place is one of those places that makes you lose your faith in humanity… Rude con artists with no integrity. Their products are used, worn and torn. It is important that you scan, check, and take pictures of what you rent if you decide to because they will give you broken products and charge you for the damage. My aunt rented the trays and bought the fruits, etc. For my fiancée’s Dam Hoi. 70% of the fruits were rotten and moldy with the better looking side facing outwards. To do something so inhumane without remorse or even a second thought is just amazing. Truly no conscience or morals. I am usually someone who judges for himself regardless of what I read so for those out there with similar practices, please heed my warning…

I decided to check out this place during my Lunar New Year/Tet shopping errands. I was already in the plaza and didn’t want to go to another place to find parking so I just went into this store because a bunch of customers were in it(it looked poppin’!) I needed to buy something as a gift for my two bosses(doctors) so I was looking for something a bit classy/expensive looking but it wouldn’t hurt my wallet. The store has a variety of treats that you can buy for the altar at home or give as gifts to family/friends. I ended up buying a container of assorted treats that are popular during Tet. I asked one lady at the store how much it was and she didn’t really know so she said $ 14⁄17. And I was like, uhhhh, so which one is it? And she kind of ignored me. So I just went to the cashier and asked the other lady how much it was and she said it was $ 12. It’s cash only. The store is kinda small and really crowded, customers going both way. I would go back but not when it’s so crowded, so try to avoid the weekends.

SODISAPPOINTED. I am their customer for more than 20 years. I wish there are Unilocal so I can give them 5 stars 20 years ago. My wedding cake were ordered there. For the last couple years, the quality gone so bad. I always bought the rice cakes(banh chung) for Tet but last years’ rice cakes had gone bad on the New Year Day — all of them gone sour. Um, i told myself should not come back to buy rice cake(ba’nh chung) this year. But I did come back and bought all the rice cake(banh chung) again this year for myself and my relatives. Sure enough, they all gone bad(sour) on the New Year Day. I called my relatives and they confirmed that the rice cakes gone bad. I hate to eat deep fry rice cakes because they soak too much oil. But I have no choice, I have to deep fry all of them. I will never come back there again. Next year, definitely try new place. I won’t recommend them to anyone anymore like I used to do that in the past.

They have a wide selection of Vietnamese goods of questionable freshness. I wouldn’t be surprised if inventory sits there for months longer than they should. Everything I have bought(not much after I learned the first couple times) has either been too stale or oily. The only decently fresh item is their nuoc mia. But they pack the cups full of ice.

sales people weren’t very truthful when asked if the item were fresh r not :(dissapointed the cashier was pretty rude, she was totaling the cost of our items while she was cutting a thin slide of some rice cake dessert and eating /licking her fingers

They have pretty delicious items for sale for the new years. Its always packed every time a holiday is around. The items they sell are delicious but sometimes can get pricey… The other thing is when it is lunar new years they have flower stands in the front for you to purchase flowers and also treats for gifts and offerings.

Great selection of Chinese New Year Dried Fruits and other delicacies! And they wrap it for you for free! In addition, they are helpful and accommodating.

Stay away from this store. I trust the name brand and bought 3 dozens of «nem chua» as gfit fo relatives in Seattle. There are green & white moss in all of them, and the smell is nauseating. They claim they did not know the inside. I intend to take picture of these disgusting food and send all to regional FDA . It is for the safety of consumers.

From the outside this place looks more like a candy then a bakery. Even when you first walk in you see all kinds of exotic sweet stuff. Looking around you do see baked goods, but you also see things like, dried fish, dried seaweed, and various dried herbs. There were many things in this store that I was not familiar with. It was pretty interesting walking around this small but very well stocked store. I didn’t purchase anything on this visit, but I’m sure I’ll be back.

I love mooncakes. Too bad you only get them in abundance once a year. They’re not good for you so I try not to eat a lot of them. My wife’s grandma likes to force them on me when I visit her, and I really don’t mind… because I love them. So this one day, we just got done visiting grandma who gave me some mooncakes and then we’re in Westminster and I wanted to try the Vietnamese style ones too. Having just eaten a Chinese version and then the Vietnamese version it was easy to do a comparison. I liked the Vietnamese version better. I can’t explain why but I just do. It’s not as sweet as the Chinese version and they’re different. I like them!

Since it’s so close to moon cake festival every bakery in lil Saigon is going crazy with the moon cake orders/sales. I actually wanted to see if they had any savory items for sale but alas, no. However, we saw a bunch of sweet stuff: sticky rice(different types) packaged for sale. Hubby wanted to try the Vietnamese version of moon cake so we got some to try. It was less sweet than the Chinese version but the outside portion was more cakey and less smooth than the Chinese kind. Guess it depends on your taste. Hubby likes this version better… me? I don’t like moon cake to begin with so I couldn’t tell ya. The moon cakes are $ 1 each. I prefer the ‘soupy’ Vietnamese desserts over the ‘cakey’ kind anyway.

My Vietnamese coworker pointed me here when I asked for a recommendation for a place to buy lunar new year treats. apparently this place is famous for its original shop in Saigon. It’s a bit pricier than other sweet shops but you pay for the name. it was well patronized for a weeknight so I felt it was probably best to go here anyway. I am Unilocaling this business because a lady at the shop was so patient in explaining things to me & for answering all my questions. One funny thing is I kept asking her how long the rice & mung bean plus other ingredients wrapped in banana leaves would last & whether they needed to be refrigerated. I purposefully did not go with her recommendation of the pork & mung bean ‘joong’ just in case…
