Dr Hanna is amazing! I think everyone can agree that going to the dentist is usually painful. With Dr Hanna I was completely comfortable and felt zero pain during my 2 visit. Scheduling appoints was easy. Thank you very much for fixing my old veneers! They look amazing!

CUSTOMER BEWARE! There is a new dentist and her name is Dr. Hanna. If I could give negative stars I would. First off, I went from having zero cavities to 4! I was pressured into getting fillings all in one day with a $ 1,000 estimated out of pocket expense. No thank you.
I am glad I only went with 2 fillings, I was numbed on the right side, all the way up my face, including my eye. Not impressed with the filling as I have filling material on neighboring teeth.
Next problem was the fact that I was overcharged $ 195. When I asked for a refund it took multiple calls to finally receive a refund. Not only do they not return calls as promised they offer every excuse possible to avoid providing a refund. «we can charge you the difference between what we submit to your insurance company and what they pay.» NOT TRUE. «we don’t have a contract with your insurance company.» ALSO not true, they submitted a claim and received payment. «We will credit you the difference for your next service.» NOT going to happen as I will not be using your services EVER again!
Beware, bad dental service and bad customer service.

Best dentist I have found! I’ve had great experiences here with not only me but my kids as well. Dr. Chao is very comforting, as my younger daughter was terrified when she had to have some cavities filled. He puts everyone at ease and he has a great sense of humor. The entire staff is very pleasant to deal with.

They are both personal and professional. I have found a great dental practice that I will keep going back to as long as I am in, not just OC but southern California!

06/​22/​2013 I just had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Chao, and I am very pleased with the results. The staff is incredible. I highly recommend Pavilion Dental!
Update (2015): After nearly two years, I am still a patient of Dr. Chao, and I am still very pleased with his office. The staff is extremely kind and understanding. My career makes it difficult to schedule definite appointments, and they have always worked with me every time I have needed to cancel or reschedule my appointments. I still highly recommend Pavilion Dental :)

Best dentist EVER!!! Dr. Chao and his staff are both personal and professional. My husband’s biggest fear is the dentist and they put him at ease every time. Dr. Chao has a gental touch and only recommends the work that needs to be done. No pushy extras. I would HIGHLY recommend Pavilion Dental.

Got four of my wisdom teeth removed on my bday! It was awesome did not hurt one bit! Fearless and skilled Dr. Chao took out my wisdom teeth super fast. Top ones took like a minute each. While my bottom ones were growing horizontal. Those took a little longer! Overall my experience here was awesome. Also he was making me laugh during the extraction. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend needed to do an extraction because her wisdom tooth was causing her a lot of pain. I called a couple of places and they were all expensive. Even the examination were going to cost her 140 dollars. I decided to give Pavilion Dental a call. The first thing the told me was the x-​ray was going to only cost her 10 dollars. I was a little bit skeptical just because it was so cheap, but they were willing to see her on the same day so I say why not, it’s only 10 dollars to see how much it will cost her to get the tooth out. My first impression when I got there, the place was very bright and warming. I was greeted and saw Dr. Chao coming in and I said Hi to him because I was reading about him before I came in. He sounded very gentle and confident that he was going to be able to get her tooth out even without seeing the X-​ray. I was there for about an hour and he was able to pull out both of her wisdom on the upper and lower jaws. The procedure cost about $ 301 and it was well worth it just because of the service they provided. I would recommend Pavilion Dental to anyone who is looking to get great service and someone who actually cares about the patient more than money. I will come back here again as long as I live in the OC or LA.

I have never met any dentist like dr. Chao in my entire lifetime. He is, hands down, the best dentist ever! Just speaking with him you will know that he is so intelligent and he definitely knows what he is doing. You will safe in that dental seat. I swear. I’m one of the lucky ones who have known dr Chao for years now and even had an opportunity to work for him when I was younger. All the patients love him and his wonderful work. He’s super dexterous and overall will make you feel comfortable because he’s honest and is truly the best at what he does.

I thank God every day that I found Dr. Chao on Unilocal When it became absolutely necessary to find a dentist, I chose Dr. Chao and one other dentist to interview. I’m a dental nightmare who has a very damaged mouth due to injury. I’ve trusted no one! I chose Dr. Chao immediately after meeting him, but went to the other interview just for good measure. no comparison. Dr. Chao is conservative-​he doesnt pressure sell you procedures that you truly don’t need. He’s always happy and makes me feel more relaxed (I could barely walk in to a dentist). Initially, I was thinking of dentures, and Dr. Chao convinced me that I had a lot more time on these old things and it was healthier for me to keep my teeth. So far I have had a root canal, implants, and a partial– he has never hurt me. He even called from a trip to New York to make sure I was ok after an implant. I really love that he is an engineer on top of oral surgeon, dentist, and cosmetic dentist. He’s able to see all «angles» of an oral problem. The whole staff is awesome. Hannah, my hygienist is gentle and thorough and recommended some great things for my gums. Jessica, Dr. Chao’s dental assistant, is so friendly, gentle, and knowledgeable. They all know the latest in dentistry and have high tech equipment. They are so very trustworthy, that I’m not even afraid to go in anymore. Don’t wait as long as I did to go in. Hannah probably could have saved me
some gum disease if I’d met her earlier, but I was so afraid and didn’t want to be shamed. Also, the music is Beatles, Carol King, James Taylor – can’t go wrong.
Oh, and their prices are very good!

Pavilion Dental Rocks! In the 50 years I’ve been in So Cal, I have gone to Dr. Chao for 30 of them. This guy is the high tech guru of dentistry. State of the art equipment and an awesome friendly staff that takes care of even your smallest issues and requests. I have been to other dentist’s offices through all of my years, but none have compared to the professionalism of this place. Here’s the deal…
I first became a patient of Dr. Chao early in his career. Because I needed extensive work at the time, finding out he also had a mechanical engineering degree made me feel like he had an edge on the hands on structural aspect of fixing my teeth. I figured that dentistry, was in part the practice of medicine, but I also knew it involved a lot of artistry. Lets face it, there are probably a thousand different ways you can put in braces, crowns, implants, etc!
On every visit, every procedure was done quickly and painlessly, and I left the office with a smile (even though my mouth was numb!) My wife has had cosmetic work, my kids have had 3 sets of braces, and our family has had our share of crowns and bridges. We couldn’t be more happy.
So after you’ve been a patient with the same guy for many years, you get to know him and his staff. He doesn’t advertise much, if at all. I think most of the patients are there by word of mouth. Over the years, his practice has become successful enough for him to not work 5 days a week, but when I’ve called him on emergencies for my kid’s toothache, he always made special arrangements to get us in.
I don’t think we get any «special treatment», that’s just how he is. When your sitting in the chair waiting for him or one of his hygienists, you can hear him talking to his other patients and it always amazes me how special he treats everyone. It’s like they are all hisfriends, as he knows them by name and what they like to do for fun, how their kids are doing, the vacation they are taking, etc.
Bottom line for me is, I’ve hired and fired many a many a medical doctor, but my family has ONE dentist for life! Dr. Chao and Pavilion Dental

Yea! Im the first to review!!! When I was looking for a new dentist, I discovered that half of my office coworkers had been going Dr. Chao and though his office is not close to me, I decided to give Pavilion Dental a try. Once I got there, I saw a «best of _​_​_​_​» (consumer based voting) award when I signed in. It was at that point that I realized that I had found a dentist for keeps (meaning that even when I temporarily moved 800 miles away, I still flew down to see Dr. Chao.)
I will admit that I have spent countless hours in many a dentist chair. While no patient receives a degree for this, many are observant as to sequences, procedures, and sometimes have the presence of mind to ask «why» when it comes to something specific. With Dr. Chao, I have found his style and compassion to be top notch. If there is a mistake, which is highly doubtful, he fixes it… not ifs, ands, or buts. He is meticulous in his procedures and compromise is not part of his vocabulary. His office staff is nothing less that warm an hospitable putting me at ease before I head into a situation that and would rather not experience. (I am one of those cheek squeezing patients.)

The office is located in a shopping center, so parking is not a problem. The inhouse financing is a true benefit for the out of pocket expenses you might come across. If you have mid weeks off (Tuesday/​Wednesday/​Thursday) those are the only days they are open so plan accordingly.
You will not regret your selection of Pavilion Dental… Dr. Chao and his staff will make sure of this!
