Hey! Do not forget, it is a buffet restaurant! Great service! Well, I served myself to pick up my own very fast, but guess what my servers who served my table that day were fast for picking up my dirty dishes! I ordered hot green tea, my server Jo did make sure my tea never get empty! I enjoy the good here! Great service from all staffs! Just heard they closed :((

No longer have this location. NOWCLOSED! Would recommend others locations b/c they have good seafood. However, they closed this location. Hopefully another location will open in the future… Maru sushi AYCE(about 1 mile down the street) here I come. P. S. Todai, thank you for the past delicious AYCE sushi experiences.

As with most buffets, Todai hits on some offerings and misses on others. Hits were the roll sushi, the nigiri, the desserts, and a surprisingly yummy spinach salad. Misses were the crab soup, and most everything in the hot section of the buffet. They did have the customary sushi buffet crawfish, which were the best of the hot foods. In general, Todai is a hodgepodge of good and average. For dinner, it’s not cheap, so generally I’ll spend my money elsewhere. That said, sometimes Todai is just right.

Not bad but not as good as Makino in Irvine. Sushi and Sashimi — 3 stars Salads — 3 stars Hot Food — 2 and ½ stars Desserts — 4 Stars Free Meal on your birthday — 5 stars We only go here when the kids have a craving for their crepes, otherwise Makino has much better quality food.

Had dinner on a weekday night for twenty something dollars, don’t remember, but it was my brothers birthday so he ate for free! The sushi selection is pretty good. Salmon sashimi: not fishy at all, super good. probably my favorite out of all the sushi. needless to say I ate A LOT of it. there was a roll with smoked salmon and it ruined my appetite though. it tasted overly fishy and the texture was cheap and dry… luckily, I ate that one last, and most of the other rolls were really good. for a buffet, the clams were pretty good. most buffet clams are undercooked, or you will bite into sand that tastes like the ocean… but that was not a problem here. tempura shrimp was good. crawfish — undercooked/old/flimsy, but I wasn’t surprised. There’s also unlimited green tea ice cream, crème brûlée, ramen, and udon. I would come here again. especially for the selection of decent sushi!

Ok so listen Unilocalers! U guys have been unduly harsh and critical of this eatery. Todai is an amazing seafood buffet with quality seafood!!! We almost didn’t come here due to the overall rating because of the reviews in here. I’m so happy we decided to check it out. It’s clean. Waiters are highly attentive. And food is very flavorful. And the price is right! So I’m starting to understand why businesses want to sue Unilocal,or get mad lol… Well it’s because sometimes the reviews skew their potential and essentially messes with their bottom line… This is a great place so check it out everyone. I’m honest, real and Unilocal the truth. This is truth.

I have to admit that I’m a sushi addict. Todai’s sushi offerings are delicious and diverse. However, aside from that, everything is fairly benign and not worth the excess cost of eating there. After gobbling the sushi at a very high level(taking almost one of each), I wasn’t very taken in by their other dishes. Going from section to section, and looking at the entrees, none of them appeared any different than at other Asian buffets(Tappenyaki has as many items and at 1⁄3 the price). Taking and tasting what I picked hardly gave me an enthusiastic attitude. When going for desserts, I was disappointed as well. The bakery items were dry, small, and not very tasteful. When picking out the green tea ice cream, it was melted as was the sherbert. I told one of the employees what happened and she had a set of frozen ice creams pulled out from another freezer section. Service is fair but the most you really ever receive is a refill of your drinks and your bill(no one ever comes by and asks how things are going). Bottomline: Going there for Mother’s Day cost us an extra three dollars(a little over $ 30.00 for each of the four of us) and partaking in less than a unique food site made me realize that Todai, when truly looking for high quality Asian food, is not a place to die for.

Normally we enjoy this place but today we came in and the food was just awful. We decided to bring it up to the staff. First of all, I am always polite when I complain about anything. I don’t feel it’s necessary to throw a fit over something this trivial. The staff, however, didn’t see things this way. At any buffet I always take one of most things in order to make sure I will enjoy a larger helping. I did this as usual and found myself getting nauseous after almost every bite. The sushi pieces had been sitting out for at least an hour and had dried up and turned colors. The hot food was dry and crusty as a result of having sat out for too long. Even the water tasted like chlorine. Now we’ve been coming here for the last year and have never had an issue with them. Today, however, was a completely different story. The manager and what I call the«food boss lady» both gave me an incredible amount of attitude as they tried to force me to pay for the meal of which I ate almost nothing. They said it is a buffet and you must pay if you eat anything. I had four bites and enjoyed none of it. I was tempted to offer to return what I ate. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

3 stars is an erroneous score. This place is hands down top three buffets in California. Must trys: Green Soba noodle salad. The soba noodle is «exquisite» White Tuna Sushi Toyko style ramen Spinach Mushroom Salad Crepes w/peaches and cream and to step it up just put some green tea ice cream on top of that bad boy. There are probably 100 other items that are also good, but this is the crème of the crop.

Even though it’s a buffet, their customer service is plain bad. Okay, taking account that my hubby’s gift certificate expired the week before, we did bring in a full paying adult(that’s me) and two kids(who don’t eat a lot), you would think that the expiration date would slide. But no. They only gave a small discount. The clincher here was the timing… they told us when both kids started eating and I sat down with my plate. Sneaky and conniving. The thing is we showed the gift certificate before we entered the dining area. There are other dining options to choose from. Not ever going there again. Note: The gift certificate was from his birthday three months ago. We were repeat customers.

This place is a joke. We have eaten at a few Todais and enjoyed it. Went to eat tonight and was so pissed we left. My daughter is 11. Every place we go she pays the kids price. Why? Because she is a kid and does not eat much. The lady asked how old she was and she told her 11. The lady then asked my daughter what year she was born. What? She didn’t believe my daughter when she told her age? The lady then had her stand against a height chart. My daughter is 5’1. We were told she had to pay the adult price due to her being over 5 foot. Wtf? Just because she is tall, we have to pay the adult price? For an 11 year old? The lady said yes, because she is taller than 5 foot. I said but she is 11! The lady said but she is tall so she pay the adult price. Bull crap. My daughter is 11 and should pay the kids price. Just because her father is 6’5 and she takes after his height, we should not be forced to pay an adult meal price. This place is unfair to tall people. I have never ever had to pay an adult price for my daughter being tall. I told the manager they are unfair and we will never be eating at their restaurant. We left and went to a fantastic dinner elsewhere. Oh yes, and we paid the kids price for my tall 11 year old daughter.

Came here the other day for a friend’s birthday. Now if you know me, you know I am not a sushi fan. The last time I was at a Todai. was when I was 7 and hated it. Never once did I come back. But. because it was my friend’s birthday. Todai it is. To my surprise, today’s meal wasn’t bad! I was surprised as to how good their food quality was for a buffet. Their sushi was tasty and wasn’t overly loaded with rice. Their spinach salad was my absolute favorite. They also had a noodle bar that served udon and ramen. Also a side with cooked food such as shrimp walnut, chicken teriyaki, fried rice, pork and alot of other things as well. Their desert bar was cute. everything was miniature sized(not that great) but looks good. Overall, I would give this place 3 stars because for a buffet, their food was pretty good. I’m not a fan still though because I just paid $ 30(including a drink & tip) for 4 crunch rolls and spinach salad. But if you are a huge sushi fan. I would say come here. Service: was good. on point with the refills. *NOTE* if it is you’re birthday.(with proof of license). you get a certificate for a FREEMEAL on your NEXTVISIT!

Inside the Westminster mall. You can enter from outside near the Macy’s. It was around $ 28 for dinner on a Friday. Opens for dinner at 5:30. I didn’t think Todai was going to be crowded because who goes there anymore? But apparently a lot of people still do. We got seated right away though and off you go to get what you want! Right side is where the sashimi and sushi are. Then the salads, hot foods, and then ramen/udon station. Middle section is where the desserts, fruits, crab legs, crêpe station and green tea ice cream. Sashimi didn’t look pretty or taste that fresh, but its’ a buffet so what do you expect! They have a good amount of sushi selections, but after the second round you get kind of bored of what you see. Hot foods are a pass for me. They did have walnut shrimp though! Ramen/udon station was okay too. Just point to what soup you want and they will make it for you. I ended up trying the udon noodle and added my own shrimp tempura to it to make it a look a little more fancy. Pretty good, but still not the best I’ve had. For desserts… nothing really looked appealing to me. No one was at the crêpe station, but the choices they had weren’t impressive. I tried the crème brûlée, but I would pass on it. I had plenty of green tea ice cream! It’s in the mini fridge right next to the crab legs! Service: Plates were taken away pretty quickly. Water cups were refilled when near empty. So overall an okay experience, but I would probably not come back unless someone really really wanted to eat here. Try Makino, it’s better than Todai in my opinion.

The dinner price is pretty steep but we definitely got our ticket’s worth of it with their crab legs. The meat was fresh and delicious. Aside from their sushi rolls, I was pleasantly surprised that they had sea urchin here! The uni actually isn’t on display for you to serve yourself; instead, there’s a placard for it and you have to ask the sushi chef to make it for you. AYCE sea urchin? YES, PLEASE! Other than that, there’s an udon & ramen station as well as crepes! Their crème brûlée is pretty delicious along with the pineapple sherbet. The service is friendly and very attentive in putting away your plates and refilling waters. TIP: Come here for your birthday since you can get a coupon for a free dinner on your next birthday! They also give you a free cake and sing with tambourines :)

This is an amazing place. Have been to two of their locations & am not nor ever disappointed. Sushi is always fresh, food is amazing, so is the selection. All in all if you love sushi(fresh) in a clean environment then don’t go anywhere else, but any of the Todai’s.

Todai is where you go when you have no taste buds. No offense to the old people that like Todai. Why did I go? My mother-in-law, for some odd reason loves Todai. I b*tch and wh*né to my hubs every time we are forced to go. He has gotten us out of going a few times, but not enough times apparently, because we still have to go. It makes me sad to see money that could have went to better sushi go to Todai and my stomach filling up with mediocre sushi that has been left out. Overall, a sad situation anyway you look at it. The only bright spot? After lunch here, she said hmm, maybe Todai isn’t so good.

I am not a big fan of buffets. Why? Well, a few reasons 1.) the food sits out there for how many hours? 2.) there is just sooo much food, I cannot decide! 3.) the food sits out there for how many hours? I have had many bad experiences from buffets… food poisoning, not being clean and etc. However, this place has changed my mind, just a bit. This place is really really clean. The food seems to be made fresh and the staff is constantly monitoring to make sure the trays are full or replaced with new batches of food. I am impressed. Good work Todai! I love the sushi here and the salads are to die for! The staff are very friendly and customer oriented. This place is also very kid friendly, it helps that their mascot is some adorable yellow alien… thing? I don’t know, but this place is good!

Buffets are scary. It’s a land of uncertainty and food poisoning. I was craving seafood one night with the fiancé so we decided to go to ToDai. About $ 29/person and all the seafood a girl could eat, I left a pretty satisfied customer. Fiancé had never been to a ToDai before, so he was also pleasantly surprised with the selection of sushi provided here. We will probably be back sometime soon… with a coupon! Or birthday.

Love this location!(I wouldn’t even think of going to the one on Beach Blvd.) It’s clean and very airy. The food is always fresh and the sushi chefs are accommodating when you have a special request. Each time I go, I find a new favorite item. There are a few types of Asian-type salads and I favored the one with sliced onions and bell pepper. Very lite and crispy. The last time we ate here I found the«crab shoulder», which was a fried item near the Chinese food. It was absolutely my favorite thing of the night.(see photo). I am also a shrimp lover and the fried shrimp with heads are always fresh and tasty. The oysters are plump and juicy, but the crab legs are very skimpy and almost always too salty for my taste. My son and I always have a crème brule eating contest… but unfortunately, this time, they were a bit«dry». They are usually VERY good. The only negative is … «sometimes» the hostess lady isn’t very friendly. The waiters & waitresses are fine, but I think the«hostess lady» is the owner. :-(

I think me leaving them a 3 star review after coming here at least 10 times since would make me a food snob. Rather, this place has become my sushi guilty pleasure. The complimentary lobster is hardly complimentary… it’s not even good and usually chewy and a chore to eat. I usually stick to: salmon sashimi, smoked salmon, tempura sushi, philly rolly, caterpillar roll, and some other ones that I forget the name of. The crab and the oysters have good days, and they have bad days. Lately, they have been having more good days than bad. Awesome tip: they serve uni here, you just have to ask the guy standing behind the counter to prep some for you. I make sure I get this every time. For hot food, I’ve been eating their food from this section less and less since there is so much sushi available. I am not a big fan of their dessert selection, I’d rather save the calories to eat more fish. Their fruit is super sweet so it makes me nervous that they dip it in sugar water or something. It has become a ritual to walk around the mall afterwards to allow digestion and to feel less guilty that I have just gorged. The service is usually spot on but they are annoyingly attentive when it comes to picking up the bill, chill… this place isn’t filled to the brim you know!
