Great prices for alot of food! My wife and i looked for a vegan friendly place, and they fit the bill, but they also have meat and sea food. the atmosphere is cozy and the service is prompt. The owner comes out to see you, very polite.

I always come here for their lunch buffet. I love their butter chicken! I would say it is one of the best I’ve tasted so far. Some days they have it and sometimes not. So I call ahead of time just to make sure they have butter chicken when I do come. The draw back is that they do not offer a lot of dessert choices. Unlike another nearby Indian buffet, Saffron does not offer the gulab jamun in their buffet section. Also, I wish they will add more cheese in their saag paneer.

We ordered online at 4:42pm and when my BF picked it up at 5:30pm… It wasn’t ready … Grrrr
Like the receptionist and waiter had the «Shut the front door… We didn’t put the order in yet look»
Bummer part is… My BF waited for 20 minutes…
BUT the manager was actually nice enough to bring it out, since my BF decided to wait in his car.
Moral of the story… Call them and make sure they are getting everything prepared before leaving the house.
Also… The other carry outs… Got a $ 10 coupon and my BF didn’t get it…
Seriously, we order like once a month for take out… So what the heck happened there huh??? Hmmmm
Anyhoo… Since we love love LOVE the food — even though I’m bitch*ng right now. I’m still giving them 4 stars…
We are hooked –
We always order Gosht Pasanda, Saag Paneer, and Paneeri Kulcha (naan bread)
But we usually try another dish — tonight we ordered Tandoori Pesh Kash… An appetizer with bbq chicken, fish, sausage and shrimp — it’s yummy
I will still recommend Saffron –

Food was OK but service is worse. Lady at front desk needs training for how to treat customer. Waited almost 40 mins for appetizer and food. Served both at same time. Not willing to go back. One suggestion to lady, if you don’t like groupon customer then why you guys post deal at groupon.

Ordered carryout: the kabobs were dry and overcooked.
The chicken Tikka Masala consisted of chicken swimming in a gelatinous creamy sweet goop.

I love the food at this place! Although the portions are too small for the price, I would still dish out the cash because certain dishes here are gold (chicken tikka masala and biryani)!
Here’s the thing — My party and I have not gotten the best treatment from the owner. I have been coming to this restaurant for 5 years and he is rarely courteous.
Beware, if you’ve got a groupon, an immediately shift in treatment may occur.
He tries way too hard with certain guests and doesn’t try at all with the rest. He will stay at that table entertaining that particular group (…non-​Indians) the entire time. This happens every single time I come to eat here. Because of his bad attitude and lack of respect for most people, I try to limit how often I come here.
I would’ve given this place 5 stars if it wasn’t for the owner.

Carry out is ok, but eating here is a nightmare. It took over an hour to get our food and we were still charged and offered no explanation. Having a groupon and being white is not a bad thing in anyway, but at Saffron it is. It was ridiculous.

We are regular diners here. The restaurant in very clean and the servers are nice and attentive. The food is great. We haven’t had anything we didn’t like. Although their chicken tikka masala is my favorite. the lunch buffet is the best value.

Hands down «The Best»!!! I’ve been coming to Saffron since 2008. I’ve introduced several of my friends that have enjoyed this deliciousness just as much as I on several occasions. The Butter Chicken, «Saffron rice» and garlic Naan bread are our «go to» all the time. We most definitely need to come for brunch and sample some new offerings soon. I won’t forget to mention the staff… Kudos to top notch service!

Consistency. That is something I appreciate most when I find a restaurant that I like. This hidden gem is in the corner of the Westbrook grocery store parking lot. A place I never would’ve thought to walk in to, especially since I don’t too much care for Westbrook Market… A groupon brought my fiancé and I in. We were new to the area and wanted to try some local places. The first time we ate here we loved it! It was the best Indian food we’d had! Now don’t take that lightly, we’ve been looking for a good Indian restaurant for about a year. And we’ve tried darn near every one we could find with decent reviews in the 630 and some in the 708 area but none wowed us… and then there was Saffron. It’s small seemingly family owned place that owns another shop a couple blocks down but it is more like a café with deserts, coffee, and other treats (never been in there). We ordered garlic naan to start and it was delicious, it was hot and fresh. Then I ordered the Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) w/​basmati rice and my fiancé ordered something similar but more spicy, can’t remember what it was called but it was also delicious. And they even had Ginger Beer! This is my kinda place. Now I don’t want anybody else’s Butter Chicken but Saffron’s. I crave it so much I’ve started ordering take out!

Ambiance: While the exterior wasn’t very welcoming (just located in some random strip mall), the place was nicely appointed and clean inside. The lights were low and the place is quiet.
Food: My girlfriend and I had the Tandoori Chicken, Saag Paneer (spinach + cheese cubes, Aloo Gohbi (potato + cauliflower), naan and the appetizer combo.
The appetizer combo wasn’t very special though we liked the veggie samosa that was included. The Chicken was succulent and had a rich flavor. The Aloo Gohbi was great, I polished this one off by myself. I’ve had better Saag Paneer so I wasn’t liking the dish at first, but it grew on me during the dinner (not bad). The Naan was spectacular… good chewy texture with a crispy surface. Hands down best naan I’ve ever had.
Would definitely good back for the Aloo Gohbi and Naan and then try other items.
Service: Service was impeccable. It was a team affair with a different person seating us, taking our order, serving the food, cleaning the plates, and filling our water glasses (my glass was filled to the top basically the whole dinner). Everyone was professional and positive.

I’m a fan of their lunch buffet. I’ve had better, but its clean and fresh and you can’t go wrong with $ 10 all you can eat buffet! I did the carry out one time and let me tell you, there was A LOT OF LEFT OVERS… so for me $ 10 was the perfect deal! Just package it carefully! The tandoori was flavorful and not dry and the naan was hot and soft. The service seems to be pretty good for the times I’ve been there. I haven’t had a chance to dine during dinner, but lunch buffet is great. The plaza lot is pretty dead and really needs some improvement so you can miss this place easily if you are not familiar with the area. However, the establishment must be doing fairly well since its still around in this shopping lot that is quite empty.

The food was good, although be ware that rice/​side dishes are not included in prices shown. Service is NOT at its best.
My impressions:
1) Although we made a reservation, there was no table available when we showed up, and other walk-​ins were seated first, so we had to wait for at least 20 minutes.
2) The service was slow, at took solid 20 minutes for the waiter to show up, and almost another hour before the food.
3) We had a groupon and it turned out that half of the food on the menu can not be purchase with groupon.
4) My friend was trying to familiarize me with indian dishes, and ordered few breads (don’t know the name). We could not eat it all, asked for a doggy bag, and imagine our surprise! When we got home neither rice, nor half of the bread was there! It was like 10 bucks worth of food…
Would NOT recommend.

Had the lunch buffet and the food was good but very skimpy on the variety and dishes that served meat. Service was excellent. My co-​worker has been there several times and they knew her well. I plan on going back, but next time I will try the Butter Chicken and have it deliver.
Okay, I ordered the Butter Chicken and I’m enjoying it. I do have two issues: 1. Rice is NOT included with the $ 15 Butter Chicken. 2. The Garlic Nana was burnt. Therefore, your rating is a 3 and I will not be returning.

First time trying Indian food. I thought I would hate it. I made the right choice and went to the professionals first. They did not disappoint.
The service was excellent. We got there around 730 and didnt leave until closing. We grazed on all different types of dishes and left stuffed.
The waiters were on top of everything, answered questions, and all around gave us a great experience.

Best Indian food! I have come here numerous times and always enjoyed the food. The place is big but never too crowded. The staff is courteous and informative. I have ordered take out as well and their portions are just as large as when you eat in. My favorite is the tikka masala sauce.
You don’t need a reservation and parking is always available. Ask the server for advice on orders.
