History

Established in 1985.

Dr. Donna Housman, clinical child psychologist and founder of Beginnings School, has specialized in teaching developmentally appropriate social and emotional intelligence for over 30 years. In 1985, Dr. Housman decided to create a school that would provide the type of nurturing, stimulating environment that fostered the growth of social and emotional intelligence in young children.

She named the school Beginnings, because of the importance of education in the first five years of a child’s life for developing the skills and competencies that would allow them to thrive in later years. Dr. Housman remains as enthusiastic today as she was when she founded the school years ago, and spends each day at the school overseeing the administrative, academic, and clinical training activities.
