History

Established in 1979.

CCDC was founded by a group of Westport Public School educators. Founding principles included a high degree of parent involvement, an emphasis on respect and compassion as well as appropriate support of early skill development. CCDC was the first program in Westport and one of the first in the country to achieve accreditation in 1988 from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The program has been continuously accredited since then, achieving full compliance with standards and criteria.

Eileen W.

Manager

Eileen has been a CCDC employee since 1981. She holds a BA in Psychology and a MA in Early Childhood Education. She earned a CT Director’s Credential at the Master Level. Eileen was appointed to the Governor’s Early Childhood Education Cabinet in 2010 and has served on the Leadership Team as co-​chair of the Quality Rating and Improvement System Workgroup.
