Ski Stop offers expert advice for the novice to elite skier/​snowboarder and tennis player. Our Westwood location specializes in ski & tennis, while our Canton location specializes in ski & snowboards. The Canton store is located at 323 Turnpike St. Our staff is able to recommend equipment that will work with your experience and your body mechanics. Our expertise in bootfitting stems from a working knowledge of the foot, leg, & hips. With this knowledge we are able to recommend a boot that will work with your biomechanics to enhance your riding experience. Our staff tests the skis and racquets that we sell in a variety of conditions/​situations to properly recommend the best equipment for you. Our in-​house service shop is run by factory trained technicians, some with over 20 years of service experience. If you ask for it, we can probably do it.

Ski Stop is owned by Phil & Linda Burgess. Both have experience in all aspects of the ski & tennis business from service to boot fitting to customer service. Phil & Linda personally train all the staff on an on-​going basis. Phil & Linda have over 40 years, combined, experience in the ski and tennis industry.

Phil & Linda also conduct clinics on the fundamentals of skiing and proper fit of equipment for area ski clubs and race clubs, as well as training ski instructors on the biomechanics of skiing and boot fitting.

We purchased a new set of Skis, binding and booths from ski stop in Westwood for my daughter. On the first trip we used them we found out that one of the boots would not click into the binding unless someone took off their skiis, got down on the ground next to her, and pushed as hard as they could. If a ski released on the hill, my daughter would not be able to get the ski back on by herself. The ski instructors agreed that the bindings needed to be adjusted.
Upon return from the trip we brought the skiis back to the shop and asked them to adjust them. They tried making adjustments but the boot would still not clip in.
They then told my 8 year old daughter that she was not strong enough to push the boot down. When I told them that she had been sking for 3 years and had never had this problem with skis they then said it was because they were new. They said there was nothing further they could do, they could not take them back because they were used. I was essentially stuck with useless skis that I had just paid for.
I said this was unacceptable. They said they would have the manager call me that day, he never called.
The next day I brought them to another local ski shop and paid $ 25 for them to adjust the bindings. The other shop adjusted them and now the skis fit properly.

Really disappointed in this place.
As I walked in, I didn’t realize there was an upstairs where the boots were so after looking around a bit, I stood in front of the register to wait my turn. The woman behind the counter continued to gab away about nonsense with someone else for what felt like an eternity. It was as if she was purposely ignoring me. She never even looked at me to acknowledge that she’d be with me at any point. No greeting, no nothing.
It was only because I heard someone else mention the boots were upstairs that I knew to go up there and then it was even worse! I had no idea I was supposed to sign in and the employee through a doorway gave me a ton of attitude when I popped my head in to look around. He was very put out by the fact that he had to tell me I had to sign in to be waited on. Then, he walked me over to sign in sheet like he was marching me to the principal’s off ice and said, «We’re really busy. It’s going to be a while.» I even apologized to him for the misunderstanding and said I had never been there so wasn’t familiar with the procedure but he continued with his attitude.
I had never been in this place before and they did their best to make me feel unimportant and foolish. It goes without saying that I won’t be back. Two different floors, two different jerks.
The good thing about this whole experience is that I found a great place with super friendly people in another town!

The best boot fitters. They are experienced and certified. Not like Ski Haus where some stoner «fits» you. Selection is limited, but it’s the fit that counts. I am a high instep big calf guy and they took the time to measure and do it right. Go here if you are a hard to fit skier. Highly recommended. I don’t care what my boots look like, I do care about skiing the mountain all day — comfortably. We hard to fit types unite — here at Ski Stop.

Fantastic! I have skied with pain for 25 years… I thought nothing could help (extra bone in my foot. I know gross!). I was wrong!!! I went to Ski Stop this fall an purchased custom fit boots. As several people said, this place is the best by far for boot fitting. My wife and I are newbies and decided to invest in equipment. Gerhardt worked with each of us for over 2 hours in total, taking many measurements, discussing boots available and then working us through several pairs to find the perfect fit. His knowledge of boots and skiing is amazing. Hands down, this is the place to go if you want an expert to fit you. On top of very thing, he was able to find me a close out model and saved me $ 200 bucks.

Having skied no more than 15 times in my three-​year old boots, I wanted to see if there was any way to make them more comfortable before shelling out another tidy sum for a new pair. The result could not have been better! For the price of custom inserts, the experienced technician worked magic and they feel like a pair of slippers. My skiing is so much more enjoyable — and maybe even improved because my feet are not in pain.
The only downside is that the wait for service can be long, especially on weekends when they don’t take appointments, but once it is your turn you don’t feel rushed and get undivided attention.

In need of new ski boots and a proper fitting, I did research on the web and was sold on Ski Stop based on the many positive reviews you see here.
I called the store yesterday to arrange an appointment. My phone call went unanswered and went to voicemail. I took a second look at their website and they claimed to be open. Curious.
Thinking that they must be a popular and busy store, I drove over an hour in heavy traffic for a boot fitting. Upon arrival (at what appears to be a two family home) I was informed that they had no one available to do a fitting. There was nothing on their website to suggest that a Wednesday would be a day without any fitting staff, and, again, it appeared that they don’t care to pick up the telephone.
It’s likely that there is a staff member who has performed good fitting work there, but I wouldn’t know. What I DO know is that they don’t take their business or potential customers very seriously, or graciously.
I then went to Summit Ski & Snowboard in Framingham in a bit of a huff and found a store that had an incredible inventory, ambitious and knowledgeable staff, and two boot fitters on call. I left with fantastic new boots, AND the latest and greatest in a pair of skis and bindings, all at a very reasonable package price. I’d make Summit your first stop.

Literally the best. They’re the only place in Massachusetts that is certified by Ski magazine as a professional boot fitter, and for good reason. They will do everything possible to make your old or new boot fit PERFECT. Although its certainly not cheap to get your boots custom fitted, you will be so thankful you did.
I bought my first pair of legit boots here in high school and they were perfect for years. Last year, I thought I could get away with buying a pair of boots pretty much stock, getting them «fitted» from some random store in Mass. During last season, there were days where I literally could barely walk from the lift to my car my feet and shins hurt so bad. So this year, I went to ski stop and worked with them to find the right boots and get them fitting perfectly. Its amazing how much these guys know about ski boot fit. They’ll point out things that you didn’t even know existed! Everyone working here is also passionate about skiing and is super friendly.
If you are sick of your ski boots hurting after a day of skiing or just want awesomely fitting ski boots, avoid all other places claiming to be «ski bootfitters» and go to Ski Stop.

There’s a reason I drive from Boston to Ski Stop. These people know how to take care of you, and will have you out the door smiling, skiing better and with half the money you intended to spend.
It’s been said before, it it must be repeated: these guys are excellent boot fitters. They guarantee the fit for a season, so if things don’t work out (my boots were a bit tight in the toe), they’ll take care of that. I picked up a pair of Fischer Wateas, boots, and bindings, all much below any price I could find online. I’m a bit of geek when it comes to ski design, but the staff were patient with all my ridiculous questions, and are extremely knowledgable about all aspects of skiing.
For God’s sake, do yourself a favour: pass on East Coast Alpine and come here. If you want quality gear, great prices and a super helpful staff, you’ll find them at Ski Stop. Say hi to Gerhard for me!

This is the place to get ski boots. Well worth the money and travel time to get there. Be prepared to spend a few hours if you’d like a fantastic custom fit without the sales pitch.

I’ve been going to the same shop for years. This year, I needed to get my skis tuned in a different area, greater Boston, and I was a bit nervous.
Safe to say that the stone grind (done by Emmett — highly recommend requesting him) is the BEST ski tune I’ve ever gotten. Hands down.
I’ve spent a few days on the skis this season and they are exceptional. Best $ 40 I’ve ever spent. I’ll be going for tune-​ups at Ski Stop as long as I can help it.

I’ve been a skier since I was 7.5 years old. As I became more experienced, I had desire for a higher performing boot. With that came a great deal of pain. Prior to visiting Ski Stop, I had to bear the pain of performance boots. Finally I had enough and decided to try Ski Stop. Phil Burgess was able to fit me with a boot that offered acceptable performance, and more importantly, no pain! He fitted me with an orthotic (I’ve had orthotics before from reputable fitters such as Surefoot, they were lousy, this was different) that helped make my complicated foot (I have a wide, flat-​footed pair of feet) comfortable in a boot. I got the package deal (bought the boot with the «perfect fit» package for adjustments. I highly recommend this establishment.

I saw this shop listed in Ski magazine and decided to bring my boots in for a fitting. I bought them January of 2008. They were comfortable but seems a bit off, despite the «boot fitting» they did at Cunningham’s Ski Barn in Lake Placid.
Turns out the shell was too large for my foot, the Technica Vento’s are made for a «high volume» foot, and my feet are not that big. Also, one foot is a bit longer and narrower than the other. I was crossing my tips when tired, and didn’t quite have the edge control I wanted. I did a little amateur racing as a kid & used to ski patrol. I love skiing
I am very happy with the boots I bought at Ski Stop, and recommend them to anyone that skis. Don’t bother with a shop that does not have good boot technicians. It’s just not worth it to buy a boot you think fits. Have a pro help you. Your skiing with be much better when you control your edges and have a proper fitting, properly canted boot.

I read that the Ski Stop was the place to go for boots (I have a roughly square foot and ski-​ed in ill-​fitting boots for too many years). I went not knowing what to expect and wondering if I’d be pushed into a really expensive boot, etc.
The business owner spent about 90 minutes fitting my foot and trying boots on me, asking about my skiing style, issues, etc… Gave me a range of boots to try on that were all appropriate for my skiing level and were affordable.
I’m looking forward to trying the boots out this winter!

As a former FIS point skier, I go through my fair share of boots and skies. Race boots, otherwise known as plug boots, are extremely narrow and slim, needing to be custom tailored to fit each and every racer. Combined with the fact that I have somewhat… difficult feet, means the average ski shop isn’t up to the task.
I received a recommendation of the Ski Stop from a fellow racer and made an appointment for a fitting. Street parking and a small lot in the back were somewhat busy, especially given the time of year. Shop was pretty small, even by ski shop standards. Decent selection of skis and boots in a few rooms, with some other various sporting items scattered about.
Fitting was one of the most thorough I’ve had. Every angle, size, width, and dimension was recorded. Custom insoles were made, boots punched and grinded, linings molded, etc. They listened to my requests, got to know what I expected and how I liked to ski, and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and comfortable. They invited me back should I have any issues with the fit, with free adjustments for a year.
Staff was amazingly friendly and helpful, really know their products and how to work with them. They didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need or provide me a service just to pad their bottom line. I would without a doubt return here for another fitting, race or otherwise.

If you’re in the market for your own ski gear consider this: Invest a load of time and effort making sure your boots fit! You’ll feel and ski better. Yes, there’s a ton of ski places such as REI, Ski Market, EMS, all of these stores within Boston. Why the heck would I drive out to Westwood to buy boots at Ski Stop? The answer: abso-friggin’-lutely the best service and the best fitters.
When you go to a doctor’s office, ever see all those plaques and framed degrees? «xx Medical School», «xx completed his/​her residency in Orthopedics», and so on. Being a ski junkie I wanted to get my race boots tuned up, but it seemed like a crapshoot going to a large store. You might get some part-​time schmuck who’d rather look forward to hitting on the next customer for a date, instead of making sure you get the right boot. Or you might get someone better than that. How would you know???
The closest thing to a degree that I could find was this:
. Armed with that information, I located and brought my boots to Phil Burgess at Ski Stop… after making an appointment (definitely a good sign they mean business). In the store, he had tons of cards, e-​mails and «thank you’s» posted on the wall. Phil spent easily an hour analyzing how my feet and calves nested in my boots, and gave feedback about how and what he needed to do. After using his arsenal of tools to shape my footbeds and shell, I ended up with a pair of «tweaked» boots the felt great. My skiing was never better that year.
Whether you’re buying gear or getting a fitting, make sure to call ahead and make an appointment. For a custom fit it’ll cost $$ but they’ll give you your money’s worth in time, insight and effort.
