I have been a huge fan of D&D market in the south end of Hartford for years. I live near Cromwell so I was really happy to see the Wethersfield store open up. It is just as good as the Hartford store. For Italian specialties, this is the place to go in this area. Their butcher shop is amazing. Try their sausage(many varieties available). It is fantastic. Great cheese counter… the list goes on. I highly recommend this place.

Hardly no parking, then u have to back out on main rd. Friend told me go in buy these rolls go in at 12 no rolls from this sanremo bakery was told«oh they didn’t send us any today we’ll have them tomorrow) just what u want to hear. After I saw the two flies sitting on the pizza and the tomatoes in produce covered in fruit flies ah NO! Go to buy milk and was told can’t buy that today(grey shades pulled over dairy section) it’s all been warm for six hours! So tomorrow guess what everyone’s going to buy, this is the same problem the owners bf them had hot then cold. For my last complaint it was like 78 in there the girl at the reg said yah it’s hot in here… besides the roll the bread selection is not anyone that knows Italian bread West Side here I come!

The old Bliss Market is now home to D&D Market and although the name is different the experience one gets while walking through the aisles remains the same. This location of D&D is their second location and a lot of what you might find in their Hartford location can also be found here. If you are looking for fresh pasta and other Italian specialties, this is the place to be. As with it’s former owners, D&D continues to have an excellent meat counter with not only steaks and chicken but a wonderful selection of sweet and hot flavored pork and chicken sausages as well pre-made beef patties. On the day I went I was able to pick up ground white meat chicken and chuck which made some wonderful burgers later in the day. I also picked up several sides — coleslaw, a pasta salad, a vegetable salad and some pre-grilled vegetables — which paired wonderfully with our burgers. And lest I forget dessert — they sell cupcakes from Nora and Italian pastries — and a few of those were picked up as well. I could also see my self coming back during the week when I did not feel like cooking as the pre-cooked chicken cutlets, lasagna and sausage pasta looked very tasty In addition D&D has a well stocked deli, a small produce section and a good selection of non-perishable food items. The prices on some items are a bit high but for a local market with tasty food just down the street from me — I will dig a little deeper in my wallet to come here.

I have no idea why this place is rated so low. I loved this place when it was Bliss and I love it now that it’s D&D. Sure it had some hiccups when it first opened in this location, don’t all businesses? Obviously some people don’t give the benefit of the doubt! Everyone is always pleasant and cheerful. The butchers know their stuff! How to cook it and for how long. It’s sausage heaven here too! All homemade and natural casings. Salads are fresh and yummy… pricy but if you want quality you’re going to pay for it! We can walk here and we love doing just that. When this was Bliss my daughter used to be able to buy a single ice cream from the freezer so we hope they continue that tradition here.

Saw the ad on TV the second D&D market opened in Wethersfield, so I thought I’d stop in to pickup a few items. Wow, what a huge disappointment. I was looking forward to this experience with all the bragging and Hartford courant write up with owner. Veggies look far from fresh, some were in soggy bags, the bakery is very limited and overpriced. There was an extremely arrogant, rude dirty blonde long haired girl working in the prepared food area with another older woman who was slow and didn’t recognize when a customer came up to the counter for 4 minutes while there was only one other customer. What are they going to do when it gets busy at some point? Neither didn’t know pricing of items, nor where to locate boxes or bags or how to get customers need items. Not busy but staff is chaotic. Sadly, the prepared food looked unappetizing, looked like leftover throw aways, certainly no curb appeal there. Don’t go there thinking you’re going to find fresh ravioli, fresh stuffed shells, fresh lasagna or the like, as it’s just not set up that way. The grocery shelves were half empty, not fully stocked for opening week after two month delay on opening? First assessment walking in was disappointment for such a long time proud italian grocery/deli owner(s) one would think they would step into the year 2015 with innovative displays specialize In quality breads, variety of italian cookies, fresh salad bar with things like olives, peppers, imported cheeses, antipasto ingredients, a separate deleted sandwich area for quick take outs, The meat and deli are not much different than average competitors. Expected much more from this seasoned Italian grocery store. Won’t be back there for a very very long time, if every again, not worth my time. Thank god for Whole Foods, places like Mozzacato’s a Bakery and DiFiores for good Italian products! Whole foods has more quality Italian cheeses, pastas, etc to offer and the staff is exceptional, parking lot is easily accessible and more. D&D Plus parking is horrendous, very limited, one must back out on main busy well traveled street. Not ADA compliant, either. Wish D&D all the luck, as it appears little effort was put into this opening, so for right now I have zero need to return there. They would have to take a hard look at their setup, provide quality products not just meat and deli and have better service oriented staff.
