Best BBQ between Houston and Corpus. The ribs and brisket were perfect. The potato salad was the best I’ve ever had.

We stopped here on a whim during a road trip and loved it! We both had the 2 meat plate with brisket and sausage. Both meats were excellent and the sauce was delicious too. There’s a lot of sides options– green beans, baked beans, cabbage, potato salad, cucumber salad, cheesy broccoli. Prices a very reasonable for BBQ. Definitely recommend to anyone who’s hungry for some good ol’ home cooked BBQ.

The staff was very friendly and made u feel welcomed. There were lots of locals coming in and out, that’s always a good sign to me. I got the big boy baker with chopped beef for $ 7.50 and it includes your drink. Very tasty and plenty left over for a mid-afternoon snack. The bbq sauce is a little thinner than I’m used to but was still delicious!

One of my favorite places to eat. Their brisket is amazing, and their chopped beef sandwich is what I usually order. I’d definitely recommend this place.

Fabulous BBQ, sides to die for and the sweetest people! Near the Medical Center. Cute, clean place and so glad my husband found it. Try it! FABULOUS As we drove down the road, all I could think of was that BBQ. Melt in your mouth tender. I had brisket, Yams, twice baked potato casserole, cornbread AND a piece of cornbread. Yes, I did have a carb crash while talking on the phone, but it was so worth it.

This place is like finding a hidden gem! You can smell how delicious it is before you even get inside. I got the beef brisket with green beans and potato casserole. It is so much food, it was lunch and dinner for me. Absolutely worth it 100%. Make a detour stop here it is the only reason to come to Wharton. This is a family run business and they are so nice and accommodating. I’m only sorry I didn’t get more.

Best ribs in town! No sauce needed. Their other meats are pretty good as well. Sides are limited and on the greasy side.

This is the BEST bar-B-Que West of the Mississippi. The food is great. The sides might be a little spicy for my taste but my daughter loves them. If you are in Wharton, Texas you must give Taste Wood’s a try. You will be glad you did.

A great simple BBQ joint. The brisket seemed like a genuine slow cooked product. The sides we ate were great too(cabbage, and sweet potato). This is a nice stop off between Corpus Christi and Houston.

Great find! Stumbled into Wharton while exploring back roads. Found Taste Woods on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. It was after 2:00 and people were still double parked and steadily streaming in which we too as a good sign — and we were right. My husband had the rib plate with sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese casserole. The ribs were flavorful and oh so tender. I had the sliced beef sandwich with pinto beans. The brisket was tender and flavorful. And the beans — wow. Not the most traditional pinto beans, but even better with the addition of tomatoes. The staff(owners?) are very friendly and welcoming. We definitely recommend giving them a try!

Their ribs and sauce are delicious! The beans were excellent and staff was very friendly. It’s just off the freeway, and worth the trip.

I came here on a Sat morning on my way to Houston(I took the longer route) and ordered the Deluxe Meat plate which contains Brisket, Ribs and sausage and two sides. Ribs is the best of the three, 4.5÷5. Brisket is 4⁄5 and sausage is 3.5÷5. Great food for a great place. I tried all three without the sauce(sauce hides the taste). However, I dipped the last piece of brisket in the sauce just to try it, it is kind watery and I think it has vinegar. It is pretty good, but I’m not a sauce expert. Parking can be limited and the room seems pretty warm. Overall, great place for some BBQ that worth the detour.

Love, love Tasty Woods barbecue. My husband can and does some awesome barbecue on our pit. But even he says Tasty Woods is the best. Anytime we make a trip to Wharton we always try to bring back Tasty Woods. Their sides are amazing. Recommend the sweet potatoes!

12:00pm 5÷3÷14 — There is a very good reason folks are double parked in front of Taste Wood’s. They know Glen Woods is serving up Top 50 quality barbecue. The question is when will Texas Monthly discover Taste Wood’s. This is one of those place where the patrons are as excited as children in an ice cream parlor to place their order. Would not have discovered this gem without Unilocal. I scored Taste Wood’s a 90 out 100. Grand Champion Texas BBQ Smoke: The pile in the back had pecan, mesquite, and oak. Your guess is as good as mine. A steel barrel pit in the side garage does the day to day cooking. A trailer mounted pit handles the catering demands. Brisket: Very Good. A dark red 1/8in smoke ring beneath a thick black bark. Meat is brown in color(injection?). Near perfect tender with one push to separate with fork. A thick slice starts out moist but drys a little before you finish. Full smoke flavor in every bite. A nice rub adds a little seasoning and salt. Fat is a nice smokey treat. No sauce needed. Ribs: Very Good. A bronze crust over tan interior(brine?). Near perfect tender with clean bite and clean bone. Like the beef starts out moist but drys a bit after sliced. Full smoke enhances the great pork flavor. A nice rub adds to the experience. No sauce needed. Sausage: Good. A course ground beef and pork link with mild traditional spice. A faint after taste and faint smoke. Use the sauce. Sauce: Excellent. This sauce was unique and exciting. I have never had anything like it. It was a thin very sweet sauce with honey brown sugar and drippings flavors. It was thin enough to penetrate everything you dipped in it. It transformed every bite into smokey BBQ candy. A benchmark sauce for this meathead.

I’ve eaten here before and have always enjoyed the BBQ… rich smoke, but not too smokey and nice friendly people. Today though my brisket was more or less just pure fat and wasn’t edible. Since they are always super busy at lunch I didn’t go back to complain as the ribs and sausage that I got were about as good as it gets. Everyone has a bad day and this was mine for the brisket, but buddy those ribs will always keep me coming back for more.

Woods BBQ man where do I start the brisket was delicious and juicy, the broccoli rice casserole was amazing, the potato salad was good too. Very friendly staff and family oriented restaurant I am very picky with bbq especially brisket and this place hit the nail on the head it was very good and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend you try this if you are in the area.

Woods’ BBQ and family are fantastic! We Unilocaled the joint on our way to Port A and were extremely happy with our choice. Mr. and Mrs. Woods both entertained our questions and were more than happy to hear our explanation of Unilocal.I’m not a huge BBQ lover, so it’s got to be great for me to like it. With that said, Woods’ brisket may be the best I’ve ever eaten. My husband, on the other hand, loves BBQ. He loved it all, especially the flavorful, fall-off-the-bone ribs. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the cornbread, granted we came in well after lunch.
