Applejack Wine & Spirits

Great selection, and excellent customer service. They helped me with a return this week, and I was so impressed by how hard they worked to make it right.

I have used their delivery service on a regular basis for over a year. Personalized service, friendly staff and always on time delivery! Highly recommend!

and deliver alcoholic beverages to your home! I only just heard of this today, and HAD to try it out! I put in an order on my way home from work, and in less than an hour, it was at my door! I wish I would’ve gotten the driver’s name, because he was really prompt, cool, and courteous. I told him in person, but I’m saying it again for the record, I will definitely be ordering from Applejack (through MiniBar) again! Hopefully they send the same retailer every time! If not, that’s okay, but I just wanted to give Applejack their dues. I can still stop by in person any day. :)

James was an awesome help with ordering in some specialty wine that I couldn’t find anywhere else. He had it in the store from his distributor less than 24 hours after he ordered it. And the price was still awesome!

Great prices and fast delivery.
I was shopping for a specific scotch whiskey: spring bank 21. Apple jack had it at a great price. Ordered ¹⁰⁄₂₇ had it ¹¹⁄₆. Shipping costs were very reasonable.
Great wine selection too.

Staff I always and available to help. There is also lots of staff walking around and they are always keeping he selves busy and stocking. They have a great selection that other liquor stores don’t have and a plus they take checks which most companies don’t do anymore

This is an update on a previous post. My first experience here was AWFUL. I’m almost 40 years old and they wouldn’t sell to me because my license was expired. (I was waiting for my new one to arrive in the mail after renewing online.) Seriously, the legal drinking age is 21 and, while I’m glad they think I look good for my age, there is no way I could pass for anything under 30. I swore to never shop here again and warned everyone I knew off of this terrible customer service company.
However, my laziness had me going back several months later as it is 5 minutes from my house and right next to my primary grocery store. I will say they have a pretty amazing selection and is nicely laid out. So, I’m upping my rating from 1 to 3 and will shop here when I can’t be bothered to make the drive to Tipsy’s.

This place is out of control. I love the vast selection of items, especially the beer. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I will always be back here!

Holy Selection, BATMAN!!! WOWOW! If you can’t find it here then they’ll order it! So I guess the moral of the story is that if you can’t find it here, you won’t find it.
I appreciate that their wines are organized by a region so you can sample various offerings from around the country and world. They also have an extensive collection of pre-​chilled beers, white wines and sparkling wines. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, their recommendations have never steered me wrong. By the same token, the people that shop at Applejacks are also quite friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great community liquor store, as odd as that is to say, but what a neat spot!

The selection here is phenomenal! the fact that I live 5 minutes away is just a bonus. Great craft beer selection, aisles upon aisles upon aisles of wine. Great prices on liquor too.
I have to give huge Kudos to John who works there. This man is incredibly knowledgeable on his wine and whiskey. Whenever I can’t decide he appears out of no where, I have my usual list of my price point today is, remember I don’t like corporate vineyards and this is the palette I want.(I am a pain, I know). Sometimes he takes me 4 feet sometimes across 6 or 8 aisles to a specific bottle. This man knows his inventory! He usually gives me great background stories on the wineries, makers, vines etc.

The staff was nice and informative. The prices were outstanding and the location and access to the freeway is perfect for our trip up to Copper Mountain.
John helped us. He gave great recommendations and knew his stuff!

Always my go to spot. And everybody else’s. Huge selection and really great pricing. Kinda like your grocery store though. You have to go several times before you know where everything is.
Tip: If you can get to the new spot Molly’s Spirits, it’s worth the trip.

The first time I came to Applejack’s was a couple years ago as a pit stop on the way up to the mountains and I remember being impressed. I hadn’t been back since but found myself in the area a couple weeks ago and decided to stop in. To be honest with you, I was a little disappointed.
It seems like a great place to come for wine, but the beer selection was not as good as I remembered. Nothing I hadn’t seen before, surprisingly few local options (though they do carry the cherry kriek from Strange!), and not particularly great prices. Again, maybe there are more deals to be found with wine and liquor, but I didn’t see any beer bargains that particularly jumped out at me. Certainly nothing that would make me drive out of the way to come here. Stone mixed 12 pack was 19.99, I buy it at the liquor store in Edgewater for 18.99.
Service seems to vary. Some employees are very nice and helpful, others seem like they don’t want to be there. I asked one guy for a wine recommendation and he was pretty unenthusiastic about it. I’m pretty sure he just picked the wine closest to where we were standing and suggested it.
Liquormart (and Hazel’s) in Boulder and Argonaut in Denver still win, in my eyes at least.

This place rocks! I miss living a block from Argonaut’s, but AJ is a couple miles from my work so I get in here every now and then. Huge beer selection and a ton of wines!
I have read some complaints that the product is all over the place without any rhyme or reason; Perhaps people are in such awe of the selection they lose their senses. It didn’t take long to figure out.
While most liquor stores order wines by either region or style, AJ is sorted a bit differently. The front of the store has random bottles with great sales. The rest of the wine in the store is sorted ALPHABETICALLY by brand name. If you’re looking for a particular style and not so sure on the brand, I suggest downloading Hello Vino app. It lets you choose what you’re making for dinner and gives you suggestions/​brand names to consider.
I can see this place being a bit out of the way for some if you don’t live/​work around here, but if you go hit the mountains often know that this place is 1 block south of I-​70. Not a bad 5 minute pit stop coming back from skiing.

I like the selection, but the customer service… kinda surprised to see all the decent reviews here and then read one that explained it: If you check in to Unilocal while at this store, you receive a free corkscrew. Yep. Bribery at it’s best.
So, here’s the deal. My husband and I are not imbibers, but we do like to purchase gifts of alcohol at times, and especially at the holidays. We had planned a hot chocolate and liquor holiday mug gift for his coworkers, and I went to Applejack for those nifty little mini bottles that contain flavored Baileys. I have three small children under four so as soon as we entered the store, they all three went into the cart and I explained to my two oldest that everything in the store was breakable and they mustn’t touch anything. We found the little Bailey’s bottles and I put six of them into the cart with my children.
My kids are generally pretty well-​behaved in stores. They have their moments like all kids do, but we usually are on the receiving end of compliments for their behavior and we try to encourage them to be helpers. I had gotten to the store quite early: It was probably about 9:45am, and though things were already hopping, there weren’t any lines. I pulled my cart up to the counter and (as they always do, when we have groceries), my children reached down, picked up the little bottles and began «Helping» me by setting them on the counters. They were not being rambunctious or rowdy in any way. And the lady behind the counter tells me, «Um, they really shouldn’t. It IS alcohol.»
I looked at her in semi-​disbelief. Like, what, you think the alcohol is going to reach out through the plastic and infect them right here in the store? Do you think I’m purchasing the bottles for my three small minors? I mean, isn’t this carrying the letter of the law a little too far? The only thing I could think in that moment is that possibly, she was concerned about the bottles somehow breaking.
«They’re plastic,» I murmured.
The clerk on the other side, who was serving nobody at that moment turned around and gave me a disgusted look while commenting, «They’re STILL alcohol!»
Wow. Okay. So, if you have some kind of law to rigorously follow, how about you say something along the lines of, «I know it seems a bit over the top, but we really have to enforce yada-​yada-​yada.»
I don’t know, maybe they were offended that I had three children in their store at all. When I think about it, it is almost humorous that they acted as if I was committing some kind of crime, since my husband and I don’t even drink and already have conversations with our four year old about how drinking too much alcohol does crazy stuff to your brain and I had just had a conversation with my son on the way to the store, explaining that we were giving Daddy’s coworkers just a little bit that would not hurt their brains, but just make them a nice little drink. Like, really? Could you have chosen a less likely family to harp on regarding liquor?
I took the remaining bottles from my children and placed them on the counter myself. My four year old didn’t understand the behavior that he interpreted as rude (which, really, can you blame him?) and asked me, «Why will they not let me help?»
«Because they’re being silly,» I said to him in a voice only he could hear. And I could have added a few other descriptions about their behavior but chose not to.
It left a very yucky taste in my mouth about the visit to the store and I will not be back.
I will take my business and my polite children somewhere else.

I love the selection at Applejack, so I was really excited to be using them as our vendor for the alcohol at our wedding. Unfortunately, I was left dissapointed.
Our order was pretty simple:
–Budweiser
–white wine
–red wine
–champagne
–Pumpkin beer (Colorado brewed)
When we went in we were given a few choices for the pumpkin beer and were told to call back as soon as we knew which one we wanted so they could reserve it. We went home, tried the beers, and called right away and were told that they would reserve the beer (we even paid for the entire order to ensure this).
Well two weeks later (and two weeks before the wedding) we get a call and are told that they never put our beer of choice aside and had since sold out. We were bummed because we really loved the beer we chose. So we chose another CO pumpkin beer and were told it would be reserved.
The morning of my wedding, the person delivering the beer informs us that they didn’t put the other beer aside and that they brought a different pumpkin beer (not from CO). When my mom mentioned that this was the second time this happened, the delivery man snottily said «well we tried calling your daughter this morning». A.) No you didn’t. I have no missed calls. B.) What would I have been able to do about it anyways?
We never got an apology and this makes it so that I will never return.

I get it, you need to see my ID. I happily show it every time I purchase liquor and get that it’s part of the deal. But at least let me set my purchase down before barking NEED TO SEE ID at me. I have gray hair, god damnit. Your customer service sucks, that’s why I stopped going here.
If you need to get something better than Coors and live in Applewood and have literally no other transportation options other than a bicycle, then this place is worth a stop. But hell, I’d rather drive way the hell out of my way to go to the only slightly better selection at Tipsy’s than deal with the grumps and curmudgeons that staff this place.
Frankly there are just too many options in town to have to deal with feeling like I’m getting in trouble every time I shop here. I can’t remember the last time one of their cashiers even smiled at me as I bought my $ 15 bottles of craft beer. That should come free with purchase. I have better experiences at the DMV.
Have I mentioned how much I dread going here? The only reason this place even gets the second star is because I used to shop here a lot before I knew any better and the ‘better than Coors’ selection helped me develop a palate for fancy beer.

I love Applejack’s! It used to be my neighborhood liquor store and since moving downtown, I still drive to Applejacks. I guess I prefer boxes of wine everywhere and the prices are great too. Wines are separated by region in the back, in the front many, many wines on sale. Hard liquor is to the back left, box wine in the back and beer to the right. They have a few beers from Europe and they have copper mugs too if you want to make proper moscow mules.
The lines are quick to go through even on the weekend nights and the staff is always helpful. They will deliver if you order enough, though I haven’t bought this much yet, it’s sounds good if you get a few kegs for a party.
I know I’m blocks from Argonaut, but I just don’t feel as welcomed there. Applejack’s is my fave!

This place is my mecca. It has ruined all other liquor stores for me. There is such a huge selection here, and I love being a member of their email list. They recommend tons of great wine to me and it’s always spot-​on.
I have one issue with this place, though. The wine is so unorganized. Well, at least I felt that way the first 2 – 3 times I came in. Now I know my way around a bit better, but there is so much wine that I sometimes feel overwhelmed. I just wish it were a bit easier to find exactly what I’m looking for.
Anyway, great deals are always to be found here and the staff (aside from one lady who always seems like she hates her life) is super friendly!

Applejack has a pretty wide variety of liquor. Came here to stock up for a trip to Breckenridge and I have to say that I was impressed with the selection but not fond of the prices. I’m from California, and prices on a lot of the hard liquor here, was about $ 10 – 18 more than what I’m used to. It was pretty shocking and definitely a huge turn off. The beer prices are decent but prices on vodka and others were on the high side (although, I’m not sure how Applejack prices compare to the other liquor stores in CO. The staff is helpful and plentiful.
