New Energy Salon

My boys (all 3) love this place. Each have a unique and current hair style and look good. They have no problem going in and best of all don’t complain about the style of their hair anymore.

I found this place on Unilocal that had great reviews so I decided to give it a try… glad I did! Mark cut my hair and I ended up talking to him about my curiosity in doing a color — he made some great recommendations and while my appointment was only scheduled for a cut, he and his assistant were able to work their magic and do a full color too. I sincerely appreciate the service they provided and am excited about my cut and color! I highly recommend!

Another year another review! I continue to love this place. This salon is an oasis for me. The atmosphere is special. The products and services are the very best. Bumble and bumble makes the best and thoughtful gifts. My stylist (Emily), always has new and unique ideas just for me. It is not often you find both a Mom and her daughters agree on the same place to go for their styles.

I have been coming to this salon since they opened, and I am very happy with their services. Scheduling is always easy, and they have offered flexibility when I needed it. The salon stays current, and there are always new products, techniques. I see Teresa, and she is really knowledgeable and honest about what works and what doesn’t for my hair type. This is a rare trait and I really value her opinion and expertise.

I love the energy of «New Energy»! I have seen my stylist, Emily, for over 7 years now, and she is so good and knows me so well that she can basically do what she wants without me saying much. But it’s not just Emily — the entire staff has such a pleasant quality to it — it feels very «family-​like». I have seen other stylists when Emily’s away, and they are all fabulous. The only down side to New Energy is that my Denver friends think it’s «too far» to drive… they just don’t know that it’s totally worth a few extra minutes! I, personally, love that it’s next to the groc store and applejacks — I usually kill a couple of errands with one drive — and look good doing it!

My original 5 star review was in April 2011… Guess what… Still 5 stars! Love these guys! Since my original review, probably 10 of my friends have become regular clients. Cut, color, extensions, men. women, teens, kids… everyone loves New Energy Salon! I’m partial to Teresa since I’ve been with her for 11 years, but all the stylists are spectacular!

I have been going to this salon since 2010. I’ve had the pleasure of working with a few people here. I love that this place is a bit «edgy». I feel they are updated with modern styles and extremely versatile. I also get massages from Cassie who works there. She is an absolute gem. I have severe issues from old injuries and her therapeutic approach is fantastic. She is a true healer. You will NOT be disappointed with this salon.

I haven’t had a regular stylist since I left California in 2007. During the period from early 2008 until six months ago I’d go see whoever had space available at the time I wanted to get my hair done. Thankfully, my regular job in retail brought me into contact with Stephanie at New Energy Salon. She saw the dye job I was sporting at the time and unabashedly said «I can do better, come see me.» (It was dyed black at the time, with red tips.)
I’m so very glad she said something. Since then Stephanie has been my absolute hair go-​to. I don’t do my hair even remotely in traditional or conservative fashion (it currently is dyed blue on the left side and pink on the right side, split right down the middle) and Stephanie is not only willing to do these crazy things to my head but is always bringing new ideas for colors and cuts to the table. Every time she gets done with my hair I get great compliments, and the experience itself it so pleasant that I look forward to going and leave feeling great.

I originally started going to this salon for my color, but have since started going to a salon closer to where I live. However, I really enjoyed New Energy and would continue to recommend it to others. I love that they’re Bumble and Bumble certified and that they use Goldwell color (which is my favorite). They offer more that just hair care services too. A family member of mine goes there for her massages and there are at least three of us that see Rebecca for our gel manicures. The staffs is always friendly and the prices are affordable. All in all, it’s a great salon.

Very impressed. Talented staff in a clean and relaxing atmosphere. New to the area and was nervous about trying somewhere new. Best cut and color I have ever received (Thanks Stephanie) I even got a «wow, you look great» by my husband when I walked through the door :0)

I’ve been coming to NES for about two years – my first stylist was at the recommendation of the person who made my appointment and she was spot on. Emily is fantastic! She’s professional and warm and knows what she’s doing. I’m really hard to please and I tend to regret getting my hair done as a rule since I’m often underwhelmed and feel immediate buyers remorse due to the cost involved. And while I can’t afford to get my hair done as often as I would like, Emily always makes it feel like a worthwhile investment. I even had her do my hair for an event, which I’ve never done before! I did my own hair for my wedding for hell’s sake – I guess I really am embarrassingly frugal.
It’s best to be prepared, since she’s always booked. So if you’re like me and often need last minute appointments due to a hectic schedule, you may have to see someone else. But so far I’ve been pretty happy with everyone I’ve met. I think Mary (?) cut and styled my hair on Friday and she was equally awesome and did a great job. I wouldn’t think twice about referring people to either stylist. I work in the area and talk with a lot of people over the course of my day, and several people have followed my recommendation and as a rule, I’ve always heard good feedback. My only complaint (I guess that’s what it is) is that it’s expensive for me. But again, I’m a broke student/​mom so take that with a grain of salt. It’s probably right in line with most salons.

Danielle is hands-​down the best colorist I’ve ever had. When I lived in Texas I would wait till a holiday visit to get my color done by her. She has a great eye for getting the perfect blonde for your skin tone and even re-​toned my hair for me when it unexpectedly turned brassy. Honestly, can’t say enough good things which is probably why my mom and I have both been going to her for almost 10 years!
The salon also has a great reminder service where you get an email or text and can confirm your appointment from there.

Stacy is my kind of gal! I was seeing her on a regular basis to get my hair back to a healthy state after I had done a home dye job that caused a lot of breakage. She listens to my wants and needs and lets me be as chatty or as quiet as I want which is nice because sometimes I just want to enjoy the scalp massage in silence :) I’ve since moved out of Colorado and miss my pampering trips to New Energy!

I have been seeing stylist Emily Fern for over 8 years and would follow her anywhere! Luckily enough a few years ago her friend Mark opened the wonderful New Energy Salon. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. The space is inviting and full of natural light. They have the best, longest lasting hair color brand, Goldwell, that I have ever used (and I dye my hair all sorts of fun colors). I receive lots of complements on my hair and everyone always asks how my hair color last so long and I say go to Emily at New Energy!

This is a great salon with much to offer. I have been going to New Energy for over three years and highly recommend my stylist Mary. She is always prompt, professional and friendly. I leave the salon pleased with what she has done with my hair every time. My kids and other family members have also had their hair cut at the salon and it has always been a great experience regardless of who they have seen. Most recently my girls had their hair cut by Emily who was really great. It is easy to schedule appointments and everyone is friendly and helpful.

I got hooked on Gel polish for my nails (Gelish/​Shellac) several months ago and had been making the rounds trying out different places. I went to several of the strip mall type nail places (you know the type — great hours, good prices, difficult communication) and had very inconsistant experiences — some manicures turned out great and lasted weeks, and others were looking bad by the end of two weeks. I was also uncomfortable with the varied removal techniques (again — some good, some involving lots of scraping or bowls of acetone — yuck!)
Anyhow, I wanted to try something different so I looked up salons offering Gel manicures and found New Energy. It is close to my house so I thought I’d give it a try. I’ve now been here twice and wow — wish I hadn’t wasted all that time at the other places! My only complaint is that scheduling is much harder — I’m only available on weekends and there’s only one woman who does nails here.
However, the results are so worth it! My first manicure was on for over 4 weeks and the only problem was that my nails grew out — otherwise I could have continued wearing it! She has a good selection of colors and a great lamp that takes only 30 seconds (yes — 30 seconds) to cure each coat so the whole process is super fast and efficient! The removal process here is by far the best I have seen and as if things couldn’t get any better the price is fantastic! It’s basically the same cost as the other salons I tried but the service is better, the results are consistant, and the manicure lasts almost twice as long (as long as you don’t mind a little grow out)!
Besides scheduling, the only other «downside» is cash only. However, these «difficulties» are a small price to pay for the amazing results!

So in my previous review, the stylist that did my first cut sadly didn’t last very long. When I called to make my second appointment the receptionist recommended Danielle who I believe had taken over some of Mandy’s clients. I have now had 5 cut & color’s with Danielle and I always walk out with a smile. She is great, very knowledgeable about color and listens when you explain how you want your hair cut. I am really glad I came back here and found someone that can do an excellent job on my hair.

Everyone is so welcoming and I always walk out with fabulous hair! I see Theresa, but all the stylists are great.

I love this salon. It’s a bit pricy but they always get the job done throughly! I see Emily, and she’s amazing. She’s fun to talk to, and is very skilled when it comes to her trade. It’s like she reaches into my brain to take the mental image of what I want, and brings the image to life on my head. She’s great! If you want a salon where the people that work there really know what they’re doing, go here!!!

Unfortunately, my experience here was really awful. From the receptionist ignoring my specific needs when setting up the appointment, to the stylist ignoring my desires for a particular style, to the owner ignoring my request for a refund, all in all I don’t think this salon is very concerned with customer service.
When I made the appointment, I explained that I’d recently cut my long hair into a short, angled bob and was having trouble styling it. I warned that I had a lot of hair and said I would like to speak with someone about possibly getting a perm (at a later date). For the appointment, I said I would bring pictures of the CURLY style I’d like. I was clear about needing my hair washed, dried and curled.
When I arrived, the first stylist (with whom I had been booked) was quite nice about it but told me she knew nothing about perms nor curling hair. She also said I’d only been scheduled for a «blow out.» She said she would «pull in» another stylist and asked me to wait a moment. Several minutes later, I was moved to another chair with another stylist where I had to go over what I was looking for again.
Please understand that I very much respect a professional’s opinion — that’s why I scheduled an appointment in the first place. But that’s why her responses rather frustrated me. The style I showed the second stylist (attached) was something she said «couldn’t be done with a perm.» Fine. While I have my doubts, I’m willing to trust her. But when I asked her to create the style with a curling iron, she again said it wouldn’t look the same. When she then told me that such curling would run upwards of $ 75, I just didn’t want to pay that for an «un-​doable» look.
However, I had scheduled the appointment with the knowledge I was attending an event with my husband later that evening. By that time, I’d had three sets of fingers playing with my hair, which had needed washing to begin with, and no time to do it myself before meeting my husband. I asked the stylist to just go ahead with a wash & blow dry.. .. as long as I had volume. I’m sure you understand how hard it is to be confident when you hate the way your hair looks. I was specific about NOT wanting flat hair. I was also specific about NOT wanting a wax on my hair, which leaves it listless and feeling greasy, but that’s what I got.
And that’s how I left New Energy– with flat, greasy hair that really made me sad. I’m perfectly willing to try new looks — just not ones I’ve found to be wholly unflattering during my 34 years of experience with my hair. And particularly not ones I have specifically asked a stylist to avoid. Frankly, I was too near tears to do much but pay & leave.
It was upon thinking how much I felt ripped-​off that I decided to let the manager know about my experience. His response was really infuriating. He basically said he had talked to his employees and they denied pretty much everything. Needless to say, I dropped it after essentially being called a liar and having my refund request ignored.
Final word — awful.
