History

Established in 1985.

Olson Engineering, Inc., a small business enterprise, was founded by Mr. Larry Olson, its President and Principle Engineer. Mr. Olson is well-​recognized as one of the pioneers in the development, commercialization of instruments, and application of unique Nondestructive Testing (NDT) technologies.

Professional staff have been carefully assembled to include world class expertise in a wide range of NDT and geophysical consulting services. The staff range from technicians to Ph.D. engineers, with collectively over 100 years’ experience conducting NDT services, and over 90 years’ experience conducting geophysical services.

Larry O.

Business Owner

Mr. Olson is internationally recognized as a leader in nondestructive evaluation of structures and infrastructure. He has over 35 years of consulting experience in structural condition assessment, geotechnical, pavement, materials, geophysical and vibration engineering. He is a registered Civil Professional Engineer in 21 states and the District of Columbia. He regularly speaks, publishes, and has taught short courses and ASCE Seminars nationally and internationally. Mr. Olson obtained his Bachelors in Civil Engineering and Masters in Engineering (geotechnical) degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and was honored in 2006 as a distinguished alumni of the UT Civil Architectural and Environmental Engineering Department. Mr. Olson received patents on impact echo scanning and parallel seismic/​cone penetrometer testing and has conducted a number of funded research projects on NDT and geophysics.
