The Adventure Park at Long Island

What a great time! Loved it and will be back! If you are looking for somewhere to take the kids to keep them busy this summer check it out. Worth the cost!!! I was nervous my not so brave or adventurous child wouldn’t be up for it, but there are so many different levels of courses and it starts out easy! Advice: Get there before your start time!

This place is crazy! I went on a class trip here, and it really brought us together. We all had so much fun, but bring water. A lot of us were dehydrated and weren’t able to use the water fountains because they weren’t working. I only wish that was fixed and other than that it was amazing. We all cheered for each other and helped each other too. I can definitely say it was scary on the first tightrope, but you never forget the first one! I advise doing all the yellow courses first and then all green and then continue from there. It overall was an amazing experience.

Loved the course — this wasn’t my first time, I’d went to another place where it was only one very long course. However, this one had a choice of several beginner courses (yellow and green), some mid-​level courses (blue) and two very difficult courses, a diamond and double black diamond. The blue was fun, then it got very difficult on the diamond one — one of the rope courses within it, the triangles with holes hanging from ropes, was supremely challenging, which is where I got my bumps and bruises. The rest was fun, they even had auto-​belay and free fall as part of the end of the routes, where you just jumped off a platform and let the line strapped to your harness bring you down. Highly recommend!

Challenging but fun. It’s all mental. If you fall that’s ok because you won’t REALLY fall. You can’t. It’s literally impossible for you to fall. You are always attached. Take the leap of faith and just let go!!!

We went to a birthday party there. My kids had the best time. We would go back again.

Way cool! Got «roped» into going and participating myself and it was wild! I thought that it would be a walk in the park, but I found myself challenged in ways I could not imagine! Stepping out onto high ropes courses and pushing limits! My son loved it and is already planning our return trip, I will definitely be back! The only downside was the long wait to start. Being in a log jam of young kids who had a hard time getting down the way to work the equipment made for a frustrating start. Will time it better in the future,.

I went here on ¹¹⁄₁₄ Sat with a group of about 15. Last year I went to a similar course at Camelback in the Poconos also with a large group, so I can compare the two.
I think it’s helpful to know that for a reservation, you have to pay in full, and may not cancel. You may either reschedule or get vouchers, but with a voucher you may only be a walk-​on. Our group originally booked in Oct and chose to reschedule because our appointment was the day that Hurricane Joaquin would hit (forecast of 35 – 40 mph winds). Most of our party was able to make the new date, and for the remainder we received vouchers which we can use until the end of 2016.
Conditions were not great on our make-​up day (40s w/​15 – 25 mph winds), but maybe a blessing in disguise. Other reviews indicate that this place has long lines and gets packed — however we didn’t wait at all and I never had to worry about people in front or behind me. The winds were not noticeable in the forest, but sometimes I’d be standing there suddenly losing my balance (kind of like the kick feeling from Inception) and realize my tree was swaying. Also, long sleeve is probably a good idea to avoid rope burn. Ideal conditions would probably be 50–60 °F with no wind.
The setup is very different from Camelback, PA. All of the courses start from one central platform and branch out. At Camelback, there were different areas where you’d do course 1, walk about 5 minutes to course 2, and so on. I didn’t understand the layout at Adventure Park at first, and I was STUCK with the same 4 people the whole day since everyone was on different courses and would finish at very different times. I think it’s more fun to stay together and cheer each other on so that it’s more of a group building activity, and I had more fun at Camelback when we were forced to stay together.
I did the hardest difficulty possible (along w/​2 guys and 2 girls) which is green-​blue-​black-​double black (have to do green before blue, blue before black) and it took about 4 hours at a casual pace. 7 of us attempted the double black and 3 finished (barely). In terms of difficulty it is hard to say which of the parks is tougher (because my memory sucks), but Adventure Park can definitely be much easier if you want it to be since you can choose to do only yellow and green trails. If you’ve never gone and are thinking about it, you should definitely try. It’s a great way to push yourself both mentally and physically — getting over the height and wobbly legs, and also not knowing if your muscles/​grip will hold up with each lunge you make. Can’t wait to get back out there.
Final notes. bring a light snack. bring a GoPro (headmount). port-​o-​potty only. staff is very friendly and helpful, but maybe not so kid friendly. consider getting close fingered gloves (I used maxiflex industrial gloves ~$ 3.50 and they were great).

yes, yes yesssss. Came here a couple of times. Since it opened, I haven’t had a chance to go until recently. So much fun! I mean, if you like this kind of stuff. There were a few people who had to stop in the middle of the course and caused us to be backed up in the trees, but nonetheless. It was a great experience. Can’t wait for them to open up in the spring!

I wish that there were those clip switchers at the end of each obstacle too. There was a moment when I needed help and my friend could have «saved me» but he already clicked onto the middle part around the tree and could not go back to offer help. I had to cut my journey short and missed out on the last few obstacles.
The gloves do not provide enough support. There needs to be protection around all five fingers. I understand that you have a waiver, but when business is successful, I think you should re-​invest in peoples’ safety.
Or, those of you who are aiming to go sometime, definitely bring your own gloves w/​traction/​friction control. (need a good grip)
Also, people should be warned that slipping while harnessed can lead to internal bleeding and bruising, but also note that this is not necessarily life threatening.
The «STAFF» call I think is fairly efficient. They do a good job at helping those in need.
Overall, I had an excellent time with my buddies and had a fun and quite a bit of a challenge. I would definitely like to come back again. Are you open all seasons? Or select times of the year?

When we arrived, we parked in the first lot we saw, but we later realized there’s another lot closer to the registration office. I do, however, like that as we walked up the trail to the park we were brought into a wonderland of obstacles. It enhanced the excitement factor.
I like how there’s one main station which branches off into several obstacle courses. And, two methods of getting up there. (you’ll see when you go, unless there are spoiler pics around).
The water fountain was cool too, there is a bottle refilling station. Bathrooms were clean. Lockers are avail. for an additional $ 3 for anyone who needs to put their belongings away. They aren’t THAT big, but you can fit a small backpack, water bottle, glasses, or whatever else you may have loose on you, except for the key. Keep that in a safe place!
They give you a thirty minute training session, which is pretty good. The time on your ticket is when you can no longer go up the main pad to any of the other obstacles. So, it’s best to use your time wisely. Our group did a total of three pathways; 1 yellow, 1 green, & 1 blue. There’s also a black section which is deadly from the looks of it, but I’m sure is fun if you have the cahonas and balance, and strength to do it.
I STRONGLY recommend you drink water (at least 10 fl oz) between each round of obstacles.
My watch fell off during the obstacles, and one of the Staff found it. But my glasses stayed on and I recommend wearing some for eye protection as you glide through the air/​trees. It prevents any debris or pollen from attacking your eyes.
The paths after landing aren’t always marked, so use your better judgement.
There’s a picnic area which is good for large or small groups.
Be careful; I recommend wearing long sleeves (pants/​socks/​shirts/​full-​fingered gloves) to avoid getting far worse battle wounds.

Customer service and the girls that work at this place at the front office are the worst. Took me 2 days to get settled on a simple reservation because the website and their instructions mislead you with glitches. And the front office is completely unhelpful. It’s the worst experience I have ever had getting my 2 kids reserved for them to jump on trees for 3 hours. Next time, I will be heading upstate!

It seems I was fortunate enough to have gone when they first opened a year or 2 ago. Nobody really knew about it yet so it was not crowded, the staff was helpful and my son and I had an awesome time. The fact is, the courses are terrific and very challenging, especially when you get to the more advanced ones. I think timing is everything here and you MUST go early in the day before the crowds arrive.

A group of us came here and oh boy did we have a blast. There were tons of obstacles to choose from as well as level of difficulties. Before the actual adventure begin, the staff briefed us on the safety and all; quite intimidating I should say as a first timer. A few of us decided to go for level green, knowing that I wasn’t oh so fit for a skinny person (I’m more of an active eater). Throughout the course, I have self doubts and wonder what I got myself into. As I climbed higher I realized that I may be scared of heights also. While sitting on each platforms (waiting for others to complete each obstacles) I had time to reflected and slowly come to realize how amazing the experience was. At the end of the course, I noticed that this experience had also boosted my confidence. I’m not as active as I should be and not much of an outdoor person, but I definitely recommend for anyone to check this it out.

showed up at 11am, was told there were no more harnesses and to put our names down along with phone number. The girl working there told us the wait is roughly 1 – 3 hours. No problem, we were 10^th on the list.
We waited and waited, NEVER GOT A CALL BACK! What a waste of a day and travel time. A bigger disappointment than if Jordan’s comeback career and Star Wars Episode I had a love child.
You could at least call to say the rest of the day is booked up or «hey, we just don’t like you and don’t want your business».

I went there first time last week with my friends. We went through yellow, green and blue level. We have fun there, so I think next time we will come back with black and double black. It is really safe and family friendly.
The problem is there are many people waiting in the line because one platform can only stand for 3 people and only 1 person can be on the facility element at the same time.

Summary: physically challenging and fun way to spend an afternoon with a group of friends
Have you ever watched American Gladiators and wished for the chance to run one of those obstacle courses… except while hanging 30 feet in the air? Well if so, this place is for you. A co-​worker hosted a birthday party here, and I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical. It’s a bit of a hike (~1 hour from Midtown Manhattan, and more from Jersey) for a Saturday.
The parking area is little more than a dirt field, and a tiny sign directs you to the staging area. However, once we got there, we were impressed with the scale of the adventure park — lots of hanging obstacles suspended overhead provided an intensely fun afternoon.
They provide a brief training and safety demo and after that you’re off to the ropes. Definitely take some time on the easier courses first — they are tricky but manageable.
If you’re in moderate shape, you should have no problem navigating the course. It takes a lot out of you, but if you go with a group of friends it’s all in good fun.
Tip: safety first always! a co-​workers chipped a tooth on an obstacle. if you are not sure or unfamiliar with an obstacle — wait there for a park worker to come by and explain it.

As I’m writing this, I am still sore from my hours here. No regrets though!
The course was a lot of fun! They have a great space and they make the most of it. There are several courses of various difficulties (yellow, green, blue courses, as well as black and double black). I was a little nervous knowing a couple pieces of wood on a tree would be holding us up. But everything is secure and I felt pretty safe, even on the obstacles.
We were walk-​ins and decided to come in on a Saturday morning. We didn’t fill out the waivers online, but they have iPads set up and there weren’t too many people waiting to sign up at 10 in the morning. I paid $ 54 for 3 hours of climbing as well as a half hour introductory session.
We really wanted to do the black/​double black, but you have to do a blue course before that, and either a green or yellow course before that! That already sounds tiring. By the end of the blue course, I was tired and had no energy to do the last one. Not to mention, we only had 20 minutes left (no time for snacks!). We probably would’ve had more time, but there are s bunch of people on the course and it only takes one person to hold everyone up. They even closed off one of the courses because it was so backed up!
TIPS:
1. Bring food with you! They don’t have any there, so bring some in a small lunchbox cooler and store it in a locker that you can rent for $ 3.
2. They do have water there, but it won’t be too cold. Bring a water bottle or sports drink — you’ll need it.
3. Wear tight fitting bottoms. The harnesses can get pretty uncomfortable otherwise. Also allows for maximum reach! At 5’0″ I had some difficulty on some of the courses.
4. If you’re a germaphobe, bring your own gloves. They do provide gloves there, but they smell like sweat and are pretty worn.
5. This place is photogenic, so take advantage! Bring an armband or wristlet to carry your phone around. Go-​pro friendly.

Just got back from spending a day at the park. Where should I begin…
I have no athletic bone in my body, and I made out alright. I was part of a group of 10. We started off with the yellow (beginner) and I found it a bit difficult. Upon finishing the yellow, we skipped over the green (next level up after yellow) and went to the blue. That was very difficult for me. I persevered and didn’t give up (they have escapes in the middle of it if you find it too difficult). I was extremely proud once I was done, and was hungry for more. I was completely out of my element, but the staff and my friends were amazing. I made it through almost all the yellow and 2 blues. I attempted to climb the black diamond (one of the most difficult courses), but it was just too difficult to even start for me. 4 people from my group were able to finish it.
The staff was amazing! Everyone was helpful and friendly! I give it 5 stars because of the amount of fun I had and it was a work out!
The price is reasonable, we paid 44.
Bring your own food, there isn’t much they provide. Bring water, you will get thirsty! Come with an open mind. And have FUN!
It’s an amazing place to go, right in our backyard! If you’re thinking about going, do it! You won’t regret it!

Like others who gave this place a poor review I gave it low rating because the service was poor. We tried to call the place and no one would answer. When we finally got there the polite staff told us that we could have paid online and it wpuld guarantee us a harness otherwise we couldnhave gotten here when it opened. They don’t take rsvp unless its a group of 10 or more.
The wait time was 3hrs. They at least took our number down and said they would call us when we could come back. 4hr later they finally did. Who has time to wait around for 4 hrs? This was worse then standing online for Disney World.
The park is small compared to the other tree parks we’ve been to. Lots of little kids which would definitely be fun for children if they can wait that long.
If you guys ever go to lake george go to their tree adventure park it is big and definitely geared towards adults. And they take rsvp over the phone because they actually answer the line.

YOU MUST GO TO ADVENTURE PARK if you have any ounce of desire to climb tree tops and live out your dreams of being a ninja warrior!
Tons of fun, fear, stress, sweat, awesome-​ness! There are zip lines, tightrope walking, various wobbly logs, Tarzan swinging, and so much more! The courses are broken up into different levels: Yellow (best for little kids), Green (start here for adults), Blue (adults w/​some athletic capabilities), Black Diamond (hard), Double Black Diamond (can’t even fathom)
Don’t worry — you have a safety harness on and will always be attached to a line, so even if you fall, you are still safe. Prior to starting, you will be properly fastened in a harness and given a safety orientation.
TIPS:
1) Fill out your waiver on-​line (do it on your phone — takes 5 min). Once you fill it out, it’s automatically in their system. And you won’t have to do it every time you come.
2) Groups of 10 = $ Discount $ (call/​email ahead of time to reserve — highly recommended if you are going on the weekend)
3) Wear sneakers and clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in. I would avoid short shorts. The harness will make them ride up.
4) Bring snacks and a water bottle. They provide small lockers for $ 3.
5) Bring baby wipes/​hand sanitizer. The restrooms are still being renovated, so only porta potties are available and you know how gross those can get…
6) Have some sort of athletic capabilities. (The process of rescuing a person was… cumbersome and holds up the course for all the people behind them. Please don’t be that person).

The Adventure Park at Long Island is a great outdoors activity! I went with about 12 people and we split up into 3 groups. They do give you a 3 hour limit but the staff seem to be lenient with the time because some people take longer to finish a course than others. I was able to go on three courses.
The only frustrating part about my experience were the two teenagers in front of my group who were too scared to do anything. The staff should really monitor the upper level courses and make sure their customers have tried the lower level courses before going on the harder courses. If you’re having trouble or are too scared to go on with the course, the staff will either come up to help you or bring you back down.
I recommend LI Adventure Park to anyone who wants to get away from the city for a day and do something exciting. I don’t exercise at all so the upper level courses were difficult but I got through it. I would definitely try this again!
