As others have noted, it is a bare-​bones gym. I have been a member for over 3 years and the equipment is well maintained and the workout area is clean & orderly. For me, the only negative is the locker room, which seems to have a perpetual «funk» about it. But, I only use it when its cold outside as a place to hang my coat.
If you are looking for a place to lift weights (or use a treadmill) will little-​to-​no drama, this is the place.
I was confused by «terrible parking situation» comment. The lot is at most a third full. And if you want to walk for 90 seconds, you can usually park your car in a place where there is no other vehicle within a 50-​yard radius.

i’ve been a member for about 2 months now, I joined for the price… how can you go wrong, just $ 10 a month and a small joining fee. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I enjoy my workout there. Sorry no swimming pool or track but plenty of machines and weights.

I work out here very regularly. Quaint gym, all equipment is accessible. The staff has ALWAYS been very friendly! It is clean, diverse crowd. It’s not a lifetime, but I come to workout. Not to mention the personally training program is affordable. Great gym, clean, friendly staff !

The main reason I’m leaving a one star review for this place is the girls at the front desk. They really couldn’t be any ruder. I recently went to this gym with a guest pass from a friend and the moment you walk in, the girls look annoyed. Umm sorry to make you stop talking and actually do some work. And by work I mean take two minutes to fill out some paperwork and copy my ID, then go back to your conversation. And on my way out I asked a question and actually said «sorry» when I interrupted their conversation… why I was being so nice, I’m not sure. I regret it now. They honestly couldn’t be any more rude and didn’t even answer my question.
But on to the health club… overall decent especially considering the price but very crowded. I guess thats to be expected at 4:30pm. The locker room was dirty and the floor was wet. I was uncomfortable changing in there. They do have enough treadmills, elliptical and weight equipment so that you don’t have to wait. I think if the staff were friendlier I would consider joining (and change before going). But they ruined the experience for me and there are plenty of other gyms in the area to choose from.

I switched from a big box gym where I paid 33.50/month and could not even bring a guest more than once. It has everything a guy needs and none of the stuff we don’t. Bring a lock so you dont have to leave your keys in the basket up front. many treadmills and elliptical machines with only 2 stairmasters. Almost every cable machine you need, with enough floor space to spread out with free weights. Many screens playing different things, good music and well lit. The only thing I wish gyms would do, is figure out a way to keep the gym and locker rooms smelling neutral. They place is very clean and well managed, for 20 bucks a month you can bring a guest unlimited times. Also the crowd here is diverse, a no judgment workout how you want kind of feel. I work out here after work 2 – 3 days a week in the evenings.
(The cute personal trainer doesn’t hurt this place either)

While this bare bones gym offers equipment and nothing else, be very careful about membership contract. Had lots of difficulty canceling my membership and was billed more than the form for concealing said I would be billed. Was not able to take this up to anyone to settle the dispute as the GM was very rude and difficult to deal with. Be Careful !!!

I used to like this gym, but now that the Eastern European Mob as taken over on weekday evenings, I’m considering canceling my membership. They are constantly swearing, monopolizing the area they are working out in, and never wipe down the equipment when they are through. In addition, they don’t use deodorant.

Never trust a fitness center where the people at the front desk look like they don’t work out. This is a second-​rate fitness center… it’s small and feels like «wannabe» Bally’s. Watch out if you signed a 12-​month contract and try to get out of it: they’ll charge you $ 60+ for this early opt out. Ugh… I had a bad feeling about this place, ever since I signed up. Should have trusted my instincts not to join there…

This is the first gym I’ve gone too, and so far I like it. It’s small which I like because I don’t need a pool, or a track. There aren’t a lot of people there when I go, which I like. The staff is nice too. Great price for what I’m looking for.

Love love love this gym! Perfect for the price if you don’t need a sauna, pool, etc. Great staff and Personal trainers!

I’m here five days a week, including during weekends, and 99% of the time the equipment I want to use is available. Saturday mornings are the most crowded in my experience.
I’m pretty low-​maintenance when it comes to a gym, so I really enjoy this one. I don’t want or need a track or a pool, but some fitness classes would be a nice addition.
The staff is really nice and friendly, and they do have personal trainers if you want to be trained.
Over all I love it because it’s very inexpensive, and they have the equipment — weight machines, free weights, treadmills, stairclimbers, ellipticals, and various bands/​balls — that I use. It’s also very close to me, so that’s a big plus, too.

Nothing overly impressive. Decent place to work out. Decent place overall. They don’t have the widest variety of free weights that is the biggest bummer I have with this place.

I like Cardinal because once you become a member you can go to any location, and there are many of them in the Chicago land area. The people who work at the one I go to know me and are very nice. The trainers are also cool and will help you, or talk with you without an apointment. It’s true this gym is not very fancy. No track, no pool, no salon/​spa, but if you want to get in shape this place has the right stuff. They have Hammer machines and lots of free weights, good for isolateing muscle groups. Also a good amount of cardio machines. The place is not crowded during the day. I don’t know about the night time though. The locker rooms have showers and are also very clean.

This is a bare bones gym. Lots of equipment, but no pool, track or exercise classes. You go in, work out and leave. It’s very clean and fairly new. There are lots of treadmills and ellipticals as well as weight machines. I am not a member here, I was just at the gym on Saturday, so that’s what my review is based on.
They do provide childcare here, but from what I have seen it is also bare bones. I would say that this type of gym, you get what you pay for. If you just want a place with treadmills and weights, this would be for you.
The staff here is very friendly and helpful. This is located in a strip mall near a Jewel. The parking lot was pretty full when I was there on a Saturday morning, so I’m wondering what it’s like during the week.
If this was the kind of gym I was looking for, I would join it.
