I was told this was the place to stop when in the area!!! So today we looked up the shop and 4 daughters 18 – 9 read up… we were excited!!! 49″ wide 60 feet long… so cool!!! Door is cute… Took a photo! Walked in… and seeing is believe’n!!! Then your rudely stopped approx. 20′… as they a making the popcorn in a «sink» less than ½ way into the store. They aren’t warm and friendly, they do not even wear cute tshirts… They truly are just there!!! They don’t wear gloves or hair ties… Just handle the candy… and money… like the good old days. Honesty neat to see… buy some treats… but the hype is more because kids rode there on their bikes… and now keep coming back… nothing more than childhood memories seem to keep them going. Prices are fair… service not so much! Popcorn was yummy and inexpensive… but ONLY1 kind of plain popcorn”…vegetable oil and salt. The lady behind me only drove 30 minutes… she said for nothing more than a door picture. She was shocked that you can’t actually walk the 60′ long store.

The Little Popcorn Store is a place that is fun for young and old! It has been considered a «favorite» of my children for years! 1. It has a variety of fun and delicious pieces of candy for a very reasonable price, which is appealing. 2. It is very, very small and narrow– not that many customers can fit inside of it but, that is what makes it unique and fun. However, if the weather is not cooperating that day, then it is not the best day to make a trip down to this place. 3. The popcorn is a bit overpriced considering that it does not contain a lot of flavor. For people who enjoy salty snacks, this popcorn is not the treat for you.

Feeling sad? Come here and you immediately smile! Bright door, walk in and you can touch the walls from side to side. Long, narrow space with tons of cheap candy you buy by the bag. BUT, the real reason to come here is for the popcorn. I make popcorn at home in a bit old, seasoned 5 quart and everyone I make it for loves it. I drizzle it with real butter and sea salt. Well, that said, this place makes some damn good popcorn for cheap. It’s the real deal. Yep, $ 2.50 for a large bag of homemade popcorn. My daughter and I get two medium size bags and walk around Wheaton in the summertime to check out the side walk sales. Pure, simple bliss. It doesn’t get any better. Bash Wheaton if you want, but they have come a long way from their, dry, bible thumping ways. This place is a gem among many in downtown Wheaton.

Cute LITTLE shop in downtown Wheaton. Hard to spot, look for the red awning. This place has room for one person to stand shoulder to wall and one person to shiny out. Grab a bag and fill up with candy by the piece. Prices are 5 cents — 20 cents each, but there is some candy that costs a dollar. At the counter you can purchase some delicious popcorn! Get some. If you don’t plan to eat it now, get a top. But seriously, you’re going to eat it now.

An all time favorite. Not an expensive outing, but one the whole family loves. A wall of different(and cheap!) candies, salty, light, but not greasy popcorn. I have had coworkers that don’t live close by ask for me to stop for them to pick up some popcorn. People who have never even lived in Wheaton! A must-go for anyone passing through Wheaton.

I have gone here for over 20 years and it has stayed the same perfect place. Penny, nickel, and dime candies plus super delicious, light popcorn. I love the Popcorn Store and will continue to go whenever I am in Wheaton.

This cute little popcorn shop looks like it comes straight out of Harry Potter. It’s a hallway of a store that is lined with candy on one side and popcorn in the back. The popcorn is fresh and delicious. The candy, while a little pricey, lines the wall with every kind you hope for. The charm of this shop can’t be beat. It’s a great place to stop when wandering around Wheaton.

A favorite for young and old! Delicious popcorn popped right away. Popcorn comes stuffed to the rim in a paper bag, 2nd bag used as a lid. You can also ask to get your large popcorn to be put in an Xtra large bag for quick easy access for no additional cost. Candy starts at 5 cents and goes up from there. Just grab a little white bag and fill up as you make your way to the register. Flying saucers are my favorite but I admit, they are an acquired taste! The little store gets very busy but the line always moves quick. I love giving gift tokens with gifts too!

My husband grew up in Wheaton. Every time we come to visit family we always stop at this store. So old school. Can’t find anything this charming in Los Angeles.

«With a lid?» — I can’t tell you how happy it made me to hear this question when I ordered my popcorn. Right! They ask you if you want a lid with your popcorn! I’d completely forgotten that, and it all came rushing back. blew the cobwebs out of a whole section of my brain. I brought my youngest daughter here this weekend. She is the same age now as I was when I used to ride my bike into downtown Wheaton to spend my allowance here. I am absolutely astounded that the place has not changed ONEBIT since then: the same squeeze, the same brick, the same candy bins, the same stained glass ceiling, the same delicious popcorn. And I don’t know how it is possible, but I think the prices are just about the same as they were 30 years ago. Nickel candy! Large popcorn for $ 2.50. Grocery bag full of «bird corn» for $ 1. Daughter got to pick all the candy she wanted, plus we bought a large popcorn to share, and the total bill was $ 7. The whole thing left me grinning from ear to ear.

A CANDYSHOPINANALLEY?! YES! It sounds so Harry Potter-esque. But seriously. This candy shop/popcorn store was built in an alley with a red door and some really cool not-so-see-through-but-kinda ceiling tiles. If you didn’t know about this place, you’d probably walk past the red door without thinking twice about it. And even though I had been told about this place, I STILL managed to walk past it! It really is an alley. Shelves of classic candies packed with childhood memories line one brick wall, while there is enough space for one or two people to walk by it. You can grab a little white paper bag and stuff it with as much candy as you want. And the prices?! Oh, my gosh. CHEAP. Especially for an independent candy shop in Wheaton. The popcorn bags were a steal compared to movie theaters. The candy itself was cheaper than anything you’d find in the checkout aisle or bulk candy stores. It made it kind of hard not to spend money here. And I think I have another cavity now. The Little Popcorn Store really is a little delight. Oh, so delightful.

What’s not to like about a place that sells fresh popcorn and penny(well, now it’s nickle and dime, and up) candy? Growing up in Wheaton, «the Popcorn Shop» as we knew it as was like a second home during our middle school years. My friends and I would frequent the shop multiple times a week to get our sugar fix. Now as an adult, I usually stop if I’m in the area. Well, except during summer and the weekends, when the line is out the door. I try to aim for a lousy weather day(cold, rainy, snowy, etc…) When I was a teenager, I would stop here and get my large popcorn($ 2.50) and stuff it in my backpack, and then trek over to the movie theater. Movie theater popcorn is DISGUSTING, extremely overpriced, and terrible for you. The popcorn shop’s popcorn is unique. Not too buttery, not too dry, and it literally melts in your mouth. And you can’t beat the cost, either. Even the extra large is only $ 4.50. I will buy one and then store it in tupperwares to snack on for the work week. I’m sad to see a lot of my old school candies are gone. Much of their selection has adapted to the next generation of kids that demand more sugar and candy with odd names and enticing packaging. As one of the most iconic spots in downtown Wheaton that has survived new developments(Starbucks, etc) and the loss of old favorites(Cock Robin, ‘Round the Clock diner, etc), I certainly hope it stays around forever. Or at least until I’m six feet under.

My BFF has lived in Wheaton for our entire sixteen year relationship and has mentioned the popcorn shop to me a million times over the years. You know how many times she’s actually brought me there? None. We will be having a little talk about that the next time that I see her… Tonight, on our way to dinner at The Bank a few doors down, we see the glow from the red door. Ooh, The Little Popcorn Store! I’ve gotta go in. Once inside, I wasn’t sure who was working and who was shopping. Even the customers were friendly. :-) We started with the throwback candy. Some cow pokes and razzles. I asked for a skybar and a cherry mash. Not this time, but maybe again in the future. The nickel, dime, fifteen-cents-ers and quarter candies quickly filled our bags. And of course the popcorn! I smelled it before I walked in the door. I could practically taste it in the air as it was popped fresh in my midst. I had to have some. And so I do. More than I really need, but you won’t hear me complaining. Fresh popped goodness was a nice treat! So shimmy on into The Little Popcorn Store to treat the six year old kid inside of you. Excuse me while I go enjoy a jawbreaker…

A city of Wheaton Staple! Every Candy you can imagine, plus more! Oh yeah, the popcorn is amazing! Really fair prices on everything. I remember the candy cigarettes and Wonka Chocolate Bars. MMMM. I don’t remember having trouble moving in and out here as a kid, but with our nation’s obesity crisis, I’m pretty sure there’s been some candy knockdowns and not so pleasant belly rubs. OH well. This place is nostalgia at its finest. GO!

Four fucking feet wide. It’s a good thing I have claustrophilia. I don’t much care for candy and was really there for the legendary popcorn. The narrow shop, wedged between two buildings in a former alleyway, sells a massive array of nostalgic dime-store candies, and most of the sweets won’t cost you more than a handful of spare change. Seventy-five cents buys you a white paper bag filled enough light, irresistible white popcorn to share with a few friends, though I admit to scarfing down more than two-thirds of the stuff. It’s made by an old-school hand-cranking method and seasoned with nothing more than a bit of salt and a proprietary oil blend. I WANTMORENOWWWWWWWW. Can I get that shit delivered to Bloomingdale, please!!!

One little red door, when you walk inside that’s all the space you have… a doorways worth. This is a little alley way with the left side lined with all different candies. Some oldies but goodies and some of the new stuff. When you walk in you grab a little white paper bag and make your way through the store collecting your favorites. At the end they dump them out and count them up. My final cost(even with popcorn) never ceases to amaze me… this place won’t break the bank. You can grab a soda or a water here too(but keep in mind there is a DQ right across the way if you need something even less health conscious). If you’ve read my reviews… you already know I love popcorn. They have amazing popcorn, not crazy movie theatre butter popcorn, lightly salted fresh popcorn. You probably need to try it. This place makes me feel like a little kid again… except now I have to pay for myself. But it’s so worth it, and still a pretty darn good deal. Best enjoyed in good company across the street at the fountain or at the park nearby.

love, LOVE, love… Amazing popcorn to go, healthy, tasty, well sort of healthy… good enough for my little brat and his soccer buddies. I love this place. Vintage candies and many«penny» candies available. I went here in my little brat days and I loved it then. No nostalgia involved this place is perfect!
