Tim Tab Studios

We worked with Tim Tab Studios (Tim & Bethany) spring & summer 2015 for our engagement and wedding photos at the Trump Hotel and Bridgeport Art Center Sculpture Garden in Chicago.
In our search for a photographer, we got referrals from friends/​co-​workers and researched on-​line. We spoke with a number of photographers and met with only three. Tim’s photos popped up many times in our venue search and when we visited the Tim Tab Studios’ website, we looked at all of the featured photos, including those found in the Blog, we felt an immediate emotional connection. To those who are in the process of finding a photographer, it will be a truly personal reaction to the photos or maybe just one photo. That’s how it was for us — we felt that each of the Tim’s photos captured a moment in a story and each image held emotion. That is why we reached out. After meeting with him, we knew we wanted to work with him.
We’re so glad that we did an engagement session with Tim. Neither of us had a lot of experience in front of the camera and while it may feel awkward, Tim made us feel comfortable right away. He’s got an easy demeanor and makes a lot of suggestions to get a great photo. He also has a fun sense of humor. He will make you laugh, which will make you relax in front of the camera.
Bethany joined Tim for the day-​of wedding and we were impressed with how seamlessly they integrated into everything taking place. This husband-​wife duo is an amazing team. Not only are they so complimentary of each other but they complement each other so well.
They are completely flexible, being as involved as you would like them to be. At times, we didn’t even realize that they were there. For portraits, they were direct, took control but never did we feel like we were being told what to do. We really love their creativity to get a different or more dramatic shot. This creativity is backed up by how awesome our photos turned out.

I had the hardest time finding the right photographer. Every other photographer I looked at was pushing the cheesy poses, outdated editing, awkward and forced angles. Then a friend recommended Tim Tab Studios, who shot for her wedding. «The best in the business,» she said. I looked them up online, and immediately was blown away by quality, color, and naturalness and sincerity of their photos. When I contacted Tim, he was quick to respond and answered all my questions. He met with my fiancé and me and carefully went over all his services and what to expect. The price for the engagement shoot and 8 hours of wedding photography was well under what we would have been prepared to spend, making the value of the services unmatched.
The pictures from the engagement shoot were insane. The colors and the vividness of each photograph were so impressive. The poses were modern and flattering. Tim was extraordinarily professional, yet cool and friendly, making the shoot fun and making us so comfortable giving him one of the most important tasks of our wedding day.
The day of the wedding, Tim and Bethany were punctual and immediately began shooting. The day of the wedding was our first time meeting Bethany, but it was clear we were in great hands. They captured so many small, impromptu moments that we will always treasure. Their documentary-​style photos encapsulated so many beautiful emotions and details of the day.
However, it was the posed pictures that we were most impressed with. Tim and Bethany weren’t finicky with the exact angle of our chins or the exact position of a bouquet. The poses were natural and comfortable, which was so apparent in the final photos. They respected our friends and guests time when they took photos with us, making it fast and efficient, while taking fabulous photos. They were flexible, have clear experience with weddings, and they didn’t get annoyed when a relative would jump in front of them to take an iphone photo (even though I did!). Not only did they not once complain about the 105 degree weather, but in the photos, they made us look like it wasn’t a degree over 70.
We are so grateful to them for providing exceptionally gorgeous and flattering photos of one of the most perfect days of our lives. If you are thinking of hiring them — do it now before they book another client on your day! You will be so glad you did. It was one the best decisions we made for our wedding.

Tim and Bethany were so wonderful with us not only on the day of our wedding, but also during the months before (including our wonderful engagement shoot). They were so helpful and responsive during all of our email communication throughout our wedding planning. Tim was especially flexible with us since we were planning our wedding from out of town. We loved having Tim and his wife Bethany photograph our wedding! From the very beginning when we met with them, we could tell that they’d be a perfect fit for us. They’re down to earth people who are super nice and easy to deal with, and they really pay attention to what you’re looking for. They’re creative without being cheesy, and their photos look beautifully natural. We really felt like they were able to capture each big moment in a natural way, and we rarely felt like we were «posing.» They have a great sense of humor, and we had a lot of fun with them! We got a ton of compliments on our photos, and we would highly recommend them to anyone!

My husband and I love Tim and Bethany! They truly capture the best moments. We used them for our wedding and couldn’t be more happier. We were given a DVD with full rights to our pictures so we could choose what we wanted. Very busy company though! I suggest you book fast with them because their dates fill up quickly!

Tim and his wife/​co-​photog Bethany are amazingly talented artists. Not only are they a cute couple and cool people, they are also impressive photographers. We were so happy we chose them for our wedding!
We wanted somebody with a contemporary style who can capture the moments in an artistic and memorable way. They came recommended to us from another photographer we reached out to – a good sign. A big selling point was that an engagement shoot and 2 photographers were included in their package. We didn’t think we need the engagement shoot, but it turned out to be a great time to get comfortable with the camera and Tim. And as a bonus we got more pics during this special time!
As a photographer Tim is really kind and clear with his directions while also being easy going and unpretentious. Bethany is awesome too; definitely a talented photographer in her own right and a great second set of eyes on the wedding day. They make a great pair.
On the day of our wedding, they took our photo requests seriously, but didn’t require any direction either. And during our couple/​wedding party shoot, they didn’t ask us to do any cheesy poses. Love that. Then, once the ceremony and reception got rolling, we would get subtle reminders that they were around capturing it, but for the most part they blended in and avoided distraction. But during the good moments on the dance floor they weren’t afraid to get into the mix to capture the perfect shots. Both my husband and I commented that we forgot they were there every minute, which for getting married and focusing on your significant other was important to us. After the evening was over we got several positive (unsolicited) comments from our friends/​family as well. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

It seems a bit redundant to add another 5 star review, but Tim and Bethany are so good that I must! When my husband and I were planning our wedding we knew the one thing we didn’t want to skimp on was the pictures. Having an artsy bend myself as well as a love for the outdoors, some typical photographer who took canned shots inside the buildings wasn’t going to work for me. Enter Tim Tab Studios. Their work was the perfect mix of classy, natural, fun and professional, so we booked them right away.
Since we were a «destination» wedding shoot, we weren’t able to do the usual engagement shoot beforehand, but Tim insisted we do a mini engagement shoot after the rehearsal. While on this shoot, he mentioned that he likes to do the engagement shoots because it gets the awkward out. He was so right! My husband is super photogenic, but I can get a bit awkward (though I wish I were a natural). But, if you looked at our wedding pictures, you’d never know I wasn’t a natural… Thanks, Tim!
The day of brought some challenges. The wedding was supposed to be outside, but rain was in the forecast. More than anything, I really wanted the pics with my husband to be taken outside, up in the hills nearby. We were set to start our couple shots at 2pm… it started drizzling about 5 minutes prior. Tim quickly scrambled to find a covered spot to do our first sight and after that Tim and Bethany looked at us and said, «Are you still up for shooting in the hills? We’re game if you are!» So off we four went, tromping through the hills in light rain to get our outside shots. And they were phenomenal! They even snapped some funny ones of us washing the mud off each others’ shoes post-​tromp.
As much as you have all kinds of dreams for your wedding day, you’ve got to be flexible if you’re going to enjoy it no matter what comes. Our outside wedding was moved indoors and we didn’t have the pristine blue skies, but none-​the-​less we have amazing photos of our special day, with all it’s twists and turns and that’s the real beauty. I knew when I booked them that Tim and Bethany would capture our wedding beautifully, no matter what the day yielded and that’s exactly what they did. And I’m pretty sure that when all was said and done, they were facebook friended by our entire bridal party. They’re just that awesome!

Selecting a photographer for our wedding was one of the most important steps of the planning process for us — after all, pictures will last forever! I’m also usually the one behind the camera at events with friends and family (not professionally), so I was more than a little concerned as to how awkward I would look as the subject. But when we picked Tim Tab Studios, we definitely made the right choice.
Although we didn’t get to do an engagement session, we met with Tim and Bethany before making our decision, and knew right away that they were good people. So friendly, funny, and down-​to-​earth. Tim was patient with all of our questions during the planning process, and even helped with feedback on the First Look locations. In fact, we’re so appreciative of his suggestion to include Milton Olive Park (which neither my husband nor I had visited before), as many of the pictures we took there are our favourites from the day.
On the day of our wedding, Tim arrived at our hotel and immediately jumped in to snapping shots… and basically didn’t stop all day. He moved around everyone so quickly and naturally, it was easy to forget he was there, which allowed him to get some great candids. Tim definitely has an eye for balancing subjects against their surroundings in a way that makes you just want to keep staring at the photograph. Seriously — I normally cringe looking at myself, but Tim has given us a portfolio of pictures that make me feel practically narcissistic. And let’s not forget Bethany! She didn’t shoot as heavily throughout the day as Tim, but she can claim some gorgeous shots to her name, and was key as his assistant in numerous other ways.
Having someone snap pictures of you during some of the most emotional and stressful days of your life could potentially be intimidating and/​or obnoxious. Not so with Tim and Bethany. They leave you and your friends and family be, so that you’ll end up with photos that are natural (no cheesy poses!!) and organic.

Thank you both, Tim and Bethany, for the fabulous photography at a daughter’s wedding — your attention to detail was amazing and the pictures, particularly those taken in the gardens — are beyond wonderful. Where do I start.
From the day we emailed a quote request to the moment he left us at the reception our interactions with Tim (and Bethany) were all positive.
We first met Tim at a neighborhood Starbucks to get a good look at his work from start to finish. He was able to provide weddings in full and not just some of his top shots. This provided me with the confidence I needed to book him. We drove home from the meeting and we’re like giddy kids that had just met a new best friend. We went ahead a day or so later and signed the contract via email. Needless to say, we were extremely satisfied with the level of professionalism we received from Tim through all of our communications.
Moving on to the ceremony and reception. Tim and Bethany arrived to our contract locations on time and once they got to work, you barely even noticed they were there. But looking through my pictures, I was so happy with all the little details they caught in my home, my hotel room and during the ceremony and reception. I was in tears (of happiness) at how special they made my wedding day simply by capturing some of the silly, fun and sweet things that happened that day.
I have to mention this, and I hope she’ll laugh… At one point before the reception, Bethany even hooked me up with some of HER bobby-​pins and post ceremony, helped scrub a small mud stain or two out of my dress. Bethany– you should think about being a day of coordinator – you were so much better than mine! lol
I kid you not, my entire family and friends are still talking about how sweet and nice Tim and Bethany were. I promise that this will be my photographer of choice for any future needs as well as the ONE and ONLY photographer I recommend to friends and family.
I just received my disc of pictures and am beyond happy with the quality of his images, Tim’s vision and his ability to turn a gray day into a storybook wedding! THANK YOU!!!
