We have used Discount for a # of years. Always on time, efficient, caring and professional. Today Doug helped out in a very professional manner! As usual, we get to expect their excellence, but they need to be commended! Highly reccomend!

I have been using Discount Heating for 15 years and have always been extremely satisfied with the service. The pricing is great and I feel like I am dealing with family. I have used them for both emergency and scheduled repairs. I whole heartedly recommend them above anyone else.

First time I have posted a review, but felt they deserved it. I was having issues with my central air unit icing up and called XYZ plumbing heating, etc… They came out and said I had a serious freon leak. Were going to charge me $ 380 just for freon plus $ 650 to find the leak. Then they sent out their manager to try and sell me a new air conditioner AND furnace. Doug from Discount came out, analyzed the system, installed freon and explained my options. We decided to see how the new freon charge lasts and go from there. No high pressure sale of anything. Charged me less for the visit, analysis and freon than XYZ was going to charge just for the freon. Very professional and honest. Would recommend Discount Heating to anyone.

My experience couldn’t have been more different than the other review. Steve provided a lot of good information when he quoted my new furnace and followed through with the scheduling and installation as represented. Paul and Kevin did an excellent job on the install. I would definitely work with them in the future. By the way, in my evaluation of the company, there was another site with many positive reviews by people that actually hired Discount so the other review here should be taken with a grain of salt.

I’m glad I didn’t check Unilocal before hiring them. I had the complete opposite experience of Adele O. As a 23 year old single female I’m pretty careful about the service-​people I allow into my house. Discount Heating was recommended to me by a family friend when I had to replace my furnace. I already had one quote and the owners worked with me to give me a much lower quote. Discount Heating quoted me around $ 400 less than the other company for the exact same furnace with a better warranty. The warranty was 10 years for both parts and labor, 20 years for the heat exchanger and honestly that’s what sold it for me. Discount Heating even worked around my work schedule to find a good time to come in.
The techs came on time and were very friendly and clean. They replaced my furnace in one morning and even showed me how to take care of it. The technician told me exactly what air filter to buy and told me not to waste my money on an expensive one; he said one in the $ 3 – 4 range would be plenty good. He even told me that Home Depot has them much cheaper than Walmart or Target. The owner even made sure to follow up with me. Like I said before, as a young single woman I’m pretty wary of getting scammed and of who I let into my house. But I always felt safe and like I was getting a good deal. I highly recommend them.

I have nothing but good things to say about Discount Heating and Cooling. We have been using them for over 7 years. They replaced a very old furnace/​air conditioner unit at our townhouse in wheeling 4 years ago and recently replaced a furnace-​A/​C combo in our new home. Their pricing is very reasonable and more competitive than other heating and cooling companies we have reached out to and they are flexible when it comes to scheduling. The technicians are always courteous and leave the place perfectly clean after completing the work. I was particularly impressed with Discount when last year our furnace got flooded because of some pluggage in the humidifier drain pipe. Another company came out and told us the unit needed to be replaced. We then called Discount — they carefully inspected the unit, got it cleaned up, confirmed the electrical components were in working order and restarted the furnace. They told us there is no reason to replace it yet as it might last for another few years despite the water damage. Great company to work with.

I live in Oak Brook and I have had the pleasure to work with Discount Heating and Cooling for years. When I placed the call for them to come out, they answered in a timely manner. They came out and were very professional. They were willing to help and get the job done. I had been without air conditioning overnight and I have elderly people in my home and was concerned about the air for them. They made sure the work was completed quickly but incredibly efficient. I have never had to look back.
I would recommend them to anyone.

We started with a bad taste in our mouths when Steve, the co-​owner, insisted my husband be present when he came for an estimate, insinuating that it was a ‘man’ thing. We needed to replace our air conditioner and furnace. He told us outward untruths… that you needed to buy both a furnace AND air conditioner to get a tax credit (I promptly printed the requirements for the rebate from the government website)…then he said he was ‘giving’ us a 550 dollar air cleaner with the furnace purchase (again, my husband and I knew he wasn’t giving us anything, it was a Carrier Corp. promotion.) He also didn’t really know about the Carrier Cool Cash promotion. Then he proceeded to try to sell us a 13 seer unit (which happens to be the new baseline – legally the lowest seer unit you can sell) telling us it can «work like a 15 seer unit»…when I asked how much the coil costs for it to be a 15 seer, he ignored me, looked at my husband and continued talking about the rebate (which had little to no influence on what we were going with.) The price he gave us was 175 – 250 dollars HIGHER than that which was quoted from two other HV AC places – and they were offering higher seer units outright, as neither said they even sell 13 seer packages anymore. In addition, their warranties and service that they ‘throw in’ weren’t as good as the other two estimates we got. All three places were able to schedule installation for the following Monday, after a Friday afternoon estimate. I would avoid them.

We needed to have our AC replaced and our furnace was already almost 20 years old. Decided to have a quote done by them and Steve showed up promptly when expected the next day. After discussing the options, we went with an energy efficient (tax credit) AC and an 80% AFUE furnace. I sealed the deal with them since they could schedule the installation by the end of the week. Their team showed up, very professional and clean. Left the area spotless and the system is a dream.
I dinged them one star as they weren’t aware that there was a cash back program through Carrier at the time. A little investigation on my own showed that and I called them to arrange to have the rebate information filled out and sent. Not a big deal, but if I wasn’t aware of it, I wouldn’t have saved $ 1000.
Overall, great company with good service. Glad I found them through C***gslist.
