I’ve tried this place a few times. I had a veggie burger twice. The first time it was very tasty, but the second time it was made differently and it was not as good as the time before I had it. Same thing with the vanilla«cheesecake». I had it 3 times, and first time they used a pistachio based crust and it was great, so delicious, but the next two times it didn’t taste the same. I had some other stuff too which were just OK. I love their«pineapple chips»(dried pineapple slices). The place looks very clean. Now my biggest issue is that they are well overpriced. Definitely not an everyday stop for a lunch…

Food was good, not great and portions were tiny. Price was extremely high 16 $ for a veggie burger and soup! Not all vegans eat like rabbits also 9 $ for a 16 oz juice I know organic is more expensive but your pricing yourselves out of business.

I ate here tonight for the first time with another McDougall-eating vegan. We both enjoyed our food a lot! I got the chickpea veggie scramble crêpe and my friend got the black bean/hemp veggie burger. We each tasted the other’s food and we liked it all. I got the raw chocolate chip cookie and my friend got the cupcake with orange. They were good too! Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Both of us are cooks, so appreciate good food. And this was good cooking/food presentation. We will be back!

Hell has frozen over, guys. There is a 100% vegan café in Wheeling. Not just in Wheeling, but in the most Russian part of Wheeling – across from Fresh Farms, in the all-Russian strip mall next to Di Moda Jewelers. It’s called Purple Sprout Café. I had high hopes based on the other reviews, and this place didn’t disappoint. We got the black bean and hemp veggie burger and chickpea veggie scramble crepes. Everything was delicious, made with high-quality ingredients and care, and filling. We also got a hot chocolate and housemade kale chips to go, and ordered a cheesecake and a Napoleon cake(yes, vegan Napoleon exists!!!) for NYE. There is a whole dessert bar that lists every ingredient used(all healthy, sugar-free, etc.) as well as a juice and coffee bar. And it’s owned by two local Russians. In the land of sausage and cheese and people who think not eating meat is a mental illness. I just can’t rave about this place enough!

Everything is great. I was here on Christmas Eve Day to get goodies to give to my non-vegan neighbors, and for me. Everything was beautiful, and delicious, and could be eaten by the most-restricted diets. My only negative? I was not smart enough to get more of that mint cheesecake. Will have to go back…

While I have only tried a few items so far, all have been delicious, fresh and made with impeccable ingredients. The owners clearly believe in their product and are dedicated to quality. Three non-veg friends have given two thumbs up to their fantastic black bean burgers. Really outstanding. I am excited to try more from Purple Sprout and to introduce people to truly delicious, cruelty-free food. Grateful to have a vegan option so close to home!

Tried this place this past Saturday night, and the food was great! We got the braised seitan with the yucca mash and salad. My first time ever having yucca, it was DELICIOUS. So good. My boyfriend got the same thing, and loved it as well. He’s not vegan, I am. We also got a smoothie after dinner and I tried one of their chocolate truffles made with raw chocolate. Can’t wait to go back and try their cheesecake! The food is a little pricey, but everything is organic and so good for you. You can pay more for a brand name and fancy atmosphere, or more for good, healing food that will keep you healthy. I think the latter by far the better choice. Great experience, all the best to the owners, and can’t wait to com back!

My boyfriend and I, both vegans, checked this place out this afternoon. WOW what amazing food! It is only two weeks old, and there’s the main couple plus a third employee. About 10 people all came in at the same time, so it took a little while for placing orders/receiving food, but when the food came, holy smokes was it great! Our favorite was the chickpea crêpe — absolutely amazing! To follow, we had the muffin(english muffin with cream cheese, sprouts, cucumber), and it was good, but tough to follow anything after the crêpe. We also had the two juices that had ginger — one of them had horseradish, wish was surprisingly good! We also had the soup of the day, which was kale and seitan — another win! All in all, a great experience. Vegans need a place like this in the NW suburbs, and us females need to encourage non-veg male companions to truly enjoy and appreciate this food. I hope business goes great over the next month so they can hire additional help to make the ordering and food arrival a little faster.

I came here with my parents during my Thanksgiving visit and we loved it! My parents each got a veggie-burger and they both enjoyed it. I got the savory veggie crêpe and it was very flavorful and filling! They have lots of yummy-looking desserts, which I wish I had taken advantage of while I was there. Also, the owners/cooks(a wife and husband) are delightful. Give this new place your business!
