This was always my most favorite diner in NJ. They have the best chicken parm(and I live in Bergen County, and I’m also comparing it to Godfather’s up Rte 10, which we ate at frequently). My husband and I take special trips out here about once a year to get the chicken parm and my absolute, ABSOLUTE favorite Greek lemon soup. It’s creamy with a great lemon bite to it. I can eat it for days. They sell out of it quickly and they only make it from Thursday to Sundays. I was just in the area and on my way to work I placed an order for 2 quarts to be ready later. If you go there for anything, go for the Greek lemon soup. The staff has been the same for the last 5 years, respectively and damn are they consistent. That’s the best part.

Ok, one more diner. Sunday mornings means the Whippany diner with my kids. We always get a great welcome from the staff, and it seems as though everybody in the place is a regular, because theyseem to know everybody by name. The food is good, the staff is definitely friendly, and exceptionally efficient, and the place is clean… ahh. what a beautiful example of a diner at its best

Called one night around 11pm to order food to pick up — was on my way there, said I would be there with 20 min. Gentleman on phone said no problem we’re here! Got there maybe 5 or 10 min. after I said I would be — DINERWASCLOSED. all lights out, no cars there. Thank goodness I did not pay with my CC over the phone!!! And the food really is not that great, the owner and staff are miserable, and the place is just dirty!!! I go out of my way now to go to Brookside, East Hanover or Paul’s. And I live walking distance from Whippany Diner — but will NEVER step foot in there again.

Shame on you! Refusing service to someone with a service dog! That’s outrageous and may your business suffer! May your business be on blast! Do not patronize this place!

*please voice your opinion on service dogs elsewhere. Unilocal is for food, people! Why don’t you walk into the place and tell them with your own mouth! Stop ruining Unilocal’s integrity. Solid NJ diner full of regulars who love the consistently great dishes. My sons waffle was just made, literally seconds before it came to the table. $ 5 bucks for a perfect Belgian waffle. Can’t beat that! I recently had the spinach pie(spanakopita) and a Greek lemon soup. Fantastic! It’s the best diner in the area.

Horrendous service… Wasn’t even crowded and we waited a half hour for soup? Aren’t they already made. Drive right past this lame diner and go to the east Hanover diner. Just saying.

If I could give zero stars to this place I would. I was a «regular» here until today. The owner is rude and outright nasty. I am a single mother with a 4 year old and 18 month old. My son was having a bad day and started crying after we ordered. I tried to console him, but guessing he was hungry. The food came, and the owner approached the table. He told me I need to make my son stop crying. I told him I was trying my best and asked him for suggestions. He said that I should take him to my car. I explained I am a single mother and would be leaving with BOTH of my children. This place is not a family restaurant. I cannot imagine leaving my baby in the car! The owner also suggested I should not be a single mother w a baby.

I’ve only had breakfast here. The waffles are my favorite. The service is average. They’re super friendly but extremely slow

I was so pleasantly surprised! Went there one weeknight pretty late to get a grilled Salmon salad and was blown away! They salad, fresh cold, crisp and balsamic dressing perfect. The salmon??? These cooks know their stuff! They are cooking the seafood to perfection every time!(I have gone back 4 times for this same salad and have gotten it perfect each time!) Went another night for the broiled seafood combo… again GREAT! So impressed by this diner! Highly recommend and the $prices$ are so fair and generous portions! these guys are doing it right!

Food was decent, nothing spectacular. Big drawbacks were no liquor license and no baby changing table in the bathrooms. Wait staff was okay, cleanliness not an issue.

Whippany Diner or as we call it…“The Whip” is the go-to place for my daughter and I or or my family in general. We love going as it’s our time away from the crazy world. Very hometown local feel. It’s great because we moved here 3 years ago so we don’t know the«soccer moms/dads» who go there and we don’t have to spend the first 15 minutes saying Hello to everyone we know.. The food is diner excellent(egg white arugula omelette my fave); the pancakes… turkey club… perfect. Always fresh… and don’t forget to try the Greek lemon soup.

I recently left Jersey with the knowledge that I would only visit rarely for the foreseeable future. So I stopped off at the Whippany Diner and came to realize that it was not merely«solid» but it was actually the consummate«Jersey diner.» Okay, sure, the Tops Diner in East Newark is actually the best diner in New Jersey and therefore the world but it’s sort of in a category of its own. Tops is actually a top-notch restaurant masquerading as a diner– the ultimate«humble-brag.» On the other hand Whippany Diner is the real deal. A little plain, a little homely. The menu is slightly constrained and somewhat predictable. But the food is always tasty; the service is just right; and the place simply could not be more comfortable. Come here for *the* taste of Classic Jerseyanna. P. S. — A personal fave is the perfectly prepared Eggs Benedict Florentine.

This diner is close to a client so we stopped in there. If you are a international tourist passing through this is a diner to stop at. Authentic American, simple and inexpensive.

My boyfriend and I had an event to attend in Parsippany, New Jersey with new friends that I made. On our first night, we were in search for a restaurant for dinner and luckily, I did my research and was attracted to Whippany Diner. In my opinion, Whippany Diner was a tad small for a diner. It was a Saturday night and when we arrived, seats were filled and we waited for approximately 5 – 10 minutes. It was the 5 of us and after a table filled up, we were seated right away. Our server was super friendly and nice. We all ordered different meals and my boyfriend ordered a Chicken Francese over rice, while I ordered the Chef’s Special — Tilapia Francese over rice. Garden salad was very refreshing and yummy. No complaints. When the tilapia francese arrived it looked a lot like chicken francese. The portion size was smaller than what I usually get. As I started eating my dish, I was in total bliss! This is because it was my first time having tilapia and oh man, it was light and tender and tasted so perfectly with the sauce. The sauce was very rich and you can really taste the lemon-ness in it. The rice was well-cooked. So guess what? I ended up cleaning out the whole plate which was a FIRST! I was super hungry and the dish was just beyond superb! It was truly the best diner dish I’ve had so far! Since my meal was a Chef Special, I also got a dessert — Strawberry Ice Cream. Although, service was a little slow and the diner is small — I really couldn’t think of one negative aspect about the restaurant. Everyone is just so friendly here and food quality was up-to-par! This is definitely a diner I would recommend to people.
