Our mission is to help small to medium sized conventional and complimentary /​alternative healthcare practices, clinical laboratories, pharmacies and their business associates to reliably assess where they stand in relation to HIPAA Security Rule compliance and best practices, and to assists them in implementing digital technology in a secure fashion.

History

Established in 2009.

I began selling off-​site data backup services, with a concentration on the medical field. It soon became apparent that many health professionals where stymied as to what they needed to do to be in compliance with Hipaa/​Hitech.

At the request of a few healthcare professionals that I knew rather well –I guess they thought, this guy writes code and was a system administrator in his former life– I began to peruse the Hipaa/​Hitech documentation.

After a year of intense study, and a few dozen blog articles Hipaa BP™ was born. This site will not help you with choosing EMR software. It will help you in the challenges you will face as you move to prepare your office to adopt the EMR of your choice. Hipaa BP™ is the first online site that allows you assess your Hipaa compliance easily and quickly, at a price that is just as easy on your bottom line.

Business Owner

I am the owner, founder, and chief programmer of the Hipaa BP self-​assessment online solution. I have been involved in health and technology for over 30 years, starting back in 1979 when I was trained as a medical laboratory technologist by the United States Air Force. In the early 90’s I found I had a knack for programming and have a major role in creating the programming for various web sites. In my spare time I like to read, study spagyrics (a branch of phytopharmacology), as well as play some MMO’s
