History

Established in 2005.

Stu & Janine Levine opened VINO 100 in 2005 to offer affordable, fine wines and spirits to the downtown area. At the time there was tremendous growth downtown with new residences and businesses, yet a void for wine lovers who wanted a nice place to shop.

Since then we have grown our selection and have created fun and unique events for our customers, including two grand tastings per year that allow customers to enjoy tasting dozens of wines all complimentary.

We will continue to look at new and fun ideas… and of course great wine… to keep Westchester area residents coming back for more.

Business Owner

Stu, also known as «Stu the Wine Guy,» is a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) and member of the Society of Wine Educators. He has been running VINO 100 in downtown White Plains with his wife Janine since 2005. As both a local business owner and resident of White Plains, Stu and his family enjoy all there is to offer in the area.

«Because I live and work in White Plains, I feel it is important to be part of the community.» As such, Stu hosts numerous charity events and supports a wide range of local organizations.

Stu also serves on the board of Directors for the Downtown Business improvement District and for the White Plains Performing Arts Center.

Knowledgeable owner and salespeople who are ready willing and able to help you if you desire help. The shop is well organized with interesting and helpful signs that describe flavors and pairings. They personnaly choose and stock selections that are well priced which are not your usual warehouse varieties. You can’t go wrong at Vino 100 and that’s why I’ve been going back for years and any friends or colleagues I have sent do too. Cheers.

Take your business elsewhere. The owner of this place is like a used car salesman — won’t leave you alone while in the shop. Recently relocated from Phoenix and tried my luck at this shop seeing that I love me some good wine. Initially, the interaction was fine with the owner suggesting wines. When I told him certain types I would not purchase, he tried to argue with me about it. It was literally ridiculous. Thinking it may have been a one off, I returned the following week for a fine bottle of champagne for a very special celebration. He did not have the brand I was looking for and kept trying to push other types on me to make a sale. It was as if he was trying to make me feel dumb for only wanting to purchase that one brand. Needless to say, I left and will not be returning. I found another fine wine shop closer to my new home that is laid back with a great selection… my type of place. If you’re up for some attitude, try this place. If you know what you like and don’t want to be treated like you’re buying a used car, AVOID.

Vino 100 has a great tag line: excellent wines for under $ 25. Although a franchise, each owner gets to decide what wines to choose. Many don’t succeed, but this one thrives.
Unlike other wine stores, the wines here are organized by body and taste, generally arranged by grape. They have party wines; and those for the more discerning palate. The owner’s tastes match my own, and probably most people who drink a lot of wine.
Stu, the owner, also has a pretty big wine refrigerator and a nice selection of wines for special occasions that are over $ 25, so if you’re a big spender and want a good Chateuneuf du Pape, an Amarone, or Oregon Pinot Noir, you’ll still be happy. Their liquor section is selective, yet comprehensive. It’s a nice combination.
The service is well-​informed, generous and truly helpful. There’s no hard sell, but an eagerness to provide what you’re looking for, whether for the amateur or the seasoned.

This is our favorite wine store in all of White Plains — maybe even all of Westchester! It does happen to be within easy walking distance of our apartment, but even if it weren’t, we would still buy our wine here!
Recently moved around the corner to a perfect new location on Mamaroneck Avenue, Vino 100 has maintained it’s exceptional wine selection in a non-​pretentious yet elegant atmosphere. They carry two of our current favorite Cab Savs — Educated Guess and Cannonball — among many others. The prices are slightly higher than the Wine Warehouse across town, but totally worth it to avoid the crowds, tight parking and Tarrytown Road! Plus Stu, the owner of Vino 100, is a delight and always there to help.
I highly recommend Vino 100 for all your wine needs! And join the free patrons program!

Most wine shops in Westchester are over priced, have a lame selection, and the owners are not willing to help you find what you’re looking for. Vino 100 is gleefully different, with the owner offering great (and reasonably priced) suggestions and a great knowledge of his extensive wine collection. I will keep coming back and can’t wait their tasting on June 1st!

Located right next to American Terrain in downtown White Plains NY, this specialty wine store sources great wines for the best prices. The name refers to 100 wines under $ 25. The sales people are very knowledgeable and friendly. Of the 3 wines they recommended, all 3 were delicious. We will certainly be back. They have a frequent buyer program, so that’s a good incentive.

I’m generally not a fan of franchises, but this is certainly an exception. The info /​fact cards next to each bottle make it pretty hard to screw things up, assuming you have a very basic idea of what you like and what you don’t.
It’s a great store, and the owner, Stu is always incredibly helpful. Whenever I have a question, he is always able to give his opinion as he tries everything before stocking it for sale.
Most importantly, I’ve yet to purchase anything that I really didn’t like. In fact, most of the time I more than happy with my purchase.
On-​street parking is generally easy, and there’s always the municipal lot as a backup. Prices are extremely reasonable, which is the main calling of the Vino 100 brand.

Really great wines here.
They are not like Westchester Wine Warehouse were you can find the basics like yellow tail or barefoot. These are small batch wines (like 500 cases made) at fair prices under $ 20.

This place is really a great addition to White Plains. The variety of wine is really nice, and the quality of these wines are better than a lot of the major brands.
In addition, although this place has a boutique feel, it doesn’t have boutique prices or pretense. I found some great bottles for under $ 9 that are fantastic.
The owner and staff are very helpful, but they don’t get in your face. They let you peruse at your own speed and when you do ask questions they don’t make you feel uneducated.
They also give excellant recommendations.
Finally, I really respect Vino 100 because they do a lot of work with the local community holding wine tastings and sales where a portion of the sales go to local charities. That is something I really admire.

Very different from all other wine stores. A hidden gem most definite. If you are a wine drinker you will love this place. Not stocked with your generic varietals but with a stock full of unique brands and wines. Great place!

I was pleasantly supprised by this family run, wine boutique in Downtown White Plains. The staff was friendly and knowledgable and the prices were very fair. We got most of the bottles for under $ 20. I liked that they had a small but good, hand-​picked selection of bottles. There is a convenient back enterance from the outdoor municpal lot in the back which connects to some good Mamaroneck Ave. restaurants, too.

Really loved this wine store. Unpretentious, in both its pricing and the way they treat you. Great selection with a wide range of taste and style, and, perhaps most important, a great selection of single-​malt scotches.
This is a shop that’s well aware that a great wine doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, and perhaps one of the best features of this store is the fact that they display every single wine, from the $ 7 bottle to the $ 44 bottle, the same way.
I’m looking forward to some of their afternoon tastings, too, and reaping the rewards of their frequent-​buyer card. Also, they’re dog-​friendly. Sprocket thanks you.

I really know nothing about wine, but the guys here have always been super-​helpful with making me make the right decisions when it comes to matching wines with meals and the prices are always outstanding, they have lots of wines from smaller vineyards so you find a lot of bottles you don’t see in other stores and it seems like they are always having wine tastings. i’m not a wine-​fanatic, but vino 100 makes it easy for me to buy some great wines.
