History

Established in 1992.

I started smoking meats at family gatherings in the Mountains of Southwest Virginia as a kid learning my trade from other family members. We would pitch in with all the chores in order to get the «Party Started». We would cook for days sometimes, plowing through holiday weekends, birthdays, weddings and even wakes. Life is to be celebrated and good home cooking makes eveyone feel better.

As time (and I) marched on I «played» with my food learning more tricks and when I came out of the Army I decided I wanted to be in business for myself again. After hosting a Volleyball «Party» at my Burkes Garden Home, an old high school friend suggested that my ribs were the BEST he had ever had and said I should go into business.

After some deep thinking and prospecting I opened the James Burke Inn, in Burkes Garden (02′-08′). Jammin’ Joe’s was created in 2002 and I have now came back to the DMV to give you the BEST BBQ on the East Coast. This is not me saying it either, It’s our fans!
