Burnt sweet plantains? Check. Two tiny sauce containers for a Typical Platter, Mr. Pollo Platter, and a large Yellow Rice? Check. In addition, I never thought Colombian food could be bland until I tried the food here. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our delivery so I didn’t bother complaining about the charred sweet plantains. Look elsewhere for Colombian food.

So pleased with my first meal at a Mr. Pollo! My family decided to change Italian Friday’s to Colombian Friday’s with delivery from this location. They first informed us delivery will take an hour or more because they need to cook our dinners from scratch. we were patient and pleased with the outcome. we have two trays of rotisserie chicken that was extremely juicy and delicious, and I’m usually bored with rotisserie but not here ! The avocado salad was phenomal and whatever that orange dressing is is my new favorite kind. The plantains were great, and so was the potato. I should’ve asked for Snapple instead of the large bottle of Pepsi since my family doesn’t drinks soda. I highly recommend this spot, five stars !

Mostly bad if you know what the dishes should taste like. I was most disappointed with my $ 3.75 side of sorry-looking, pasty white arepa with a limp link of chorizo thrown in it. Whatever dirty thought you might be imagining right now, it was that bad x2. My colleagues thought their other dishes and platters were fine, but I think this restaurant has passed the point of redemption with me. Scratching off another potential delivery spot in the sad, wasteland of a work neighborhood that is Whitestone.(Date of meal: April 2015)

Very good Spanish food! This is a casual Columbian restaurant with many authentic dishes at reasonable prices

I don’t know where the bad reviews come from. In my experience so far it’s been good food with more than decent wait time. I’ve ordered the yummy chicken rotisserie many times and arroz con pollo. They give you a HUGE portion good enough for at least 2 people. Yummmmmm. :))

After a birthday surprise trip to PR; I had a craven for Spanish cuisine. Never in my wildest imagination that I would find such a good meal a few blocks away!!! I’m hooked and there goes the diet. I’m living life to the fullest now.

Ordered via seamless a flank steak and got some pulled pork looking slab of meat. I could literally peel it string by string like it was cheese and it was dryer than a Dane cook stand up show. Horrible. I guess the sweet plantain and rice deserve a star, the spicy sauce is pretty good too so let’s make it 2 stars. Avoid this place

Excellent spanish food find in Whitestone. Completely unexpected treat. The rotisserie chicken is delicious. The typical Columbian dish ‘bandeja tipica’ is a must try.

I made this order over seamless. I waited over an hour and I didn’t receive anything. I decided to called the Resturant to see what happened. They said it was already on the way. Then they called me back 10 mins later saying that the delivery will be leaving in 10 mins. I told them to cancel the order. They called me back twice more harassing me to accept the order. I refused. I really wanted to like this place but they wouldn’t give me the opportunity to even try. How could you make someone wait an hour and a half for food.

I was looking for the opening of this place. What a MAJORDISAPPOINTMENT!!! First time I went had to wait 20 minutes just to order. Then had to call the waiter and ask for our drinks, the meal is nothing special. It’s not my surprise of the extremely bad and mediocre service since TIPS are INCLUDED with the bill regardless of the amount of people. Second time I order on line and the order went to the other HORRIBLE location in Whitestone, but the good part the owner delivered the food. I have to give something positive to them. BUT I couldn’t pay for the food in bayside since the order was place to Whitestone. third time this is the last time I would EVER order or eat at that place!!! I placed the order online and it goes to pay there. I click cash the default thing to do. I choose to pay cash or credit. Well to my surprise they didn’t let me pay credit card. The cashiers had a terrible attitude and that’s not my surprise! Seriously. Even the manager spoke to me on a broken English pretending to be fluent in English when clearly she doesn’t know. And I follow her conversation in perfect Spanish since I’m also from Colombia. What a bunch of ignorant a rude people!!! I’m totally allowed to speak that way about Colombians since I am and I worked in the service industry and the CUSTOMER is ALWAYSRIGHT!!! But I guess they don’t know about it. I don’t wish any harm to any body but I hope they go with the same luck they did in College Point. The closed! Waste of perfect real state for a much better food and service! Good word of advise go somewhere else. Even 5 de mayo with their over price bland food, or Chicken Lovers. A hall in the wall where the food is Extremely Fresh! Consistent flavor and the service is IMPECCABLE!!! I think 1 start is way too much for this horrible place!!!

The food was good but took a long time to come. Probably waited about 20 minutes at the table for it to come. That waitress though needs to work on her serving skills. She did not bring us menus when we walked in or even make sure all of us had forks and napkins at the table. We actually had to get up and grab our own menus and extra forks. She did not greet us and was not friendly when ordering. Other than that, the place was ok.

I am downgrading them to 2.7 stars. After recently ordering take out again we were a bit disappointed with how non-savory the meat was. We ordered 2 ‘à la criolla’ dishes and it just looked like the meat was floating in a watery soup– not at all what we were expecting. On the plus side, they are pretty quick with their service.

At first I was skeptical because before I had dined at Mr. Pollo I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences with Colombian food. This establishment changed my perspective forever! Before I used to be afraid of choking to death on chicken bones. As many places I’ve tried before seemed to want to kill their customers by adding bones to the chicken and beef stew. Not this place! I’ve tried most of their menu without disappointment!

I like this place a lot, the food is decent. Their skirt steak is good and I like their empanadas. I mean I’ve had better but it’s good for this neighborhood.

Came here last week to pick up some food. My boyfriend wanted a hearty meal and this was what he was craving. He ordered the Typical Platter for himself and the steak and onions for me with an extra side of Maduros. My steak was OK, although it was a bit different from what I am normally used to. There was literally an entire onion(large onion at that) on top of my steak. I ended up basically throwing them all away, it was way too much. And my steak was swimming in water/sauce. I actually prefer it to be a bit drier. Or not swimming. The maduros were DELICIOUS!(that is flat out my favorite, I can eat plates of them). And the rice and beans were really good too. I liked the food, but will definitely order something else the next time I am here.

Decided to order from MR. Pollo on a lazy Saturday night. It was a nice change from the normal take out options. We placed an order for delivery and they were really pleasant on the phone, letting us know that the order would be about 40 minutes or so. They were right on time if not a few minutes early. My GF got the ½ chicken platter that came with a side salad and rice. She enjoyed her meal and said that the rice was really good and the chicken was good too but a little dry. I on the other hand let my inner fat kid out and got the Typical platter. It has grilled beef that was seasoned perfectly, rice and beans(with a nice hunk of pork in the beans), a fried egg, a sweet plantain and a monster Chicharon.(that’s pork rind for those not in the know) It was a two whole pieces not the little nuggets so I was able to tear into it like a caveman… a fat kid cave man. I will definitely be back to this place The service was great and the food was even better. I recommend this place to anyone who like good food at a great price, you won’t be disappointed.

This place is close to my old Queens condo and I have eaten here over 6 times when in NYC. This restaurant is a pure mom & pop operation, and the food is home cooking. The chicken, beans and rice are so good that if they were able to franchise this concept, they could become multi-millionaires overnight. I have not found a taste as good anywhere in California, especially at such a great price. They are sitting on a gold-mine and don’t know it. Service is mediocre – the woman,(possibly owner) who is mainly there almost seems angry at you sometimes, especially if you come in while she is trying to do paperwork at one of the tables. The place has no personality, is kind of depressing, small, and I take it home most of the time. If you are coming here – it’s for the food. That’s it!

A couple of my friends around Whitestone have kept on telling me how great this place was and how awesome the food was, so my buddy and I finally stopped by today and got some food to go. The inside of the place is nothing to write home about. A few tables and chairs and some decorations and signs along the walls. The place is kept immaculate though, even behind the counter. The lady behind the counter was also really nice and even added both of us to their delivery system, so whenever we’d call, they have all our info ready to go. Since it was my first time in the place, I went with what my friend had, which was the Mountain Platter. The name definitely fits the plate, cause they give you a shit ton of food. My friend got the chopped meat and I got it grilled. Basically, they give you everything in this platter: beef, eggs, beans, pork rind, sweet potato, sweet plantain, rice, avocado and a corn cake. My friend explained to me that you have to chop everything into pieces and add the bean stew to it and mix it all up. At first glance, I thought this might be bad, but turns out, it was AMAZINGLY good. With every bite you taste a little bit of the egg, bean, pork, plantain, avocado, etc. I was really surprised that Colombian food tasted this good! Neither me or my friend could finish the whole platter and both of us had decent sized leftovers for the next day. If you are from Whitestone or Northern Queens in general, definitely try this place out! If you are sick of the same old routine of italian, greek, chinese, japanese, pizza rotation, definitely check this place out. Cheap prices, good eats — can’t go wrong.
