Utopia Bagels

Utopia Bagels is the BEST! Hands down best bagels around. I have been going to utopia bagels since I was in the carriage, and am still going at 26! Their bagels are perfect-​not doughy, not tough, not too chewy, just perfect. Their cinnamon raisin with cream cheese is my all time favorite, but I also love an everything bagel with chicken or tuna salad. Their tuna is addicting! So so good! Their bacon egg and cheese sandwiches are also perfect, especially hungover! They also have so many new menu additions now that they renovated. Aside from the aesthetic improvements, they now have more spreads and such… you can even create your own salad now!
I hope this place neverrr closes because I don’t know where I would find a bagel like this again.

The renovated space is great. Employees are very friendly and parking is not hard at all. It’s just not ess-​a-​bagel.

I always stop here when I come to visit my family. I no longer live in NYC and I miss pizza and of course a real bagel. I get them here. I have brought these back for co– workers and they always ask for them when I go. I’ve waited online when the line went out the door and they move quickly. I adore the sesame and egg bagels. Their bagels have a fabulous crust, got good bite and the inside is soft and yummy. ive never had a sandwich here but they have a good selection on the boards. I also recommend the crumb cake. Piled high and moist and delicious. One of the best bagel places in Queens if not THE BEST!

They have low carb bagels and freshly sliced lox. What more could I ask for from this neighborhood gem?!

Great flagels but in a limited variety… but this is the best place (hands down) for a bagels in the area… my favorite bagel spot is Gabbys Bagels in Woodbury, and compared to them, Utopia doesn’t pay as much attention to detail when preparing the bagels and schmears… nonetheless, good bagel spot, no doubt… if they were outside of NY, i’d be more than satisfied by the quality, but fortunately the options in NYC/​LI are vast and impressive.

I want to tell you this place sucks so bad so that everyone stays away and it can be mine alone, but alas, that would be a big lie. This place is amazingly amazing.
The bagels are fresh, the employees are efficient and very friendly and you just hate leaving. Its a vibe. No parking your butt here and being a Wi-​Fi mooch. This is a place for eating fresh food and having conversations. All ages and many regulars visit here and never a complaint about lines or food. Thats because its great and people love great.
This was my second honey bee sandwich and it was as good as the first. (No bees were hurt in the making of this sandwich).
If you park on a side street you will not need to pay the meter. Also, if you visit later in the day… say after 2, the line is much less.

Utopia Bagels recently renovated and expanded, but it’s still insanely crowded on a weekend morning. It took us nearly 30 minutes to get some bagels this Sunday, most of it spent in a long line that wriggled its way through the store and then out the door. Still, the wait it worth it.
Bagels are synonymous with New York City, but it’s getting increasingly hard to find good ones in the city. Utopia still makes them fresh, now in an elegant open kitchen, and they are some of the best I’ve ever had.
My personal favorite is a simple bagel with butter — preferably with sesame seeds but I’m flexible. This can be a bit of a trick. A bagel with cream cheese only needs to be warm to be good, but with butter it needs to be hot. This means either getting it really fresh or toasting it. I’ll usually settle for toasted, but a fresh, hot bagel with butter is like nothing else on earth. Simply amazing. I had to settle for poppy seeds, but it was still worth 30 minutes. So good I decided to order two.
Unlike some Manhattan places, they’ll toast a bagel here if that’s what you want. My wife got a french toast bagel with strawberry cream cheese that she said was excellent.
Lox is never cheap, and while the prices here may have gone up a bit, a bagel with lox here is still a good bargain compared to most places. My son had a plain bagel with lox and said it was amazing.
After the new expansion the drink selection here is top notch as well… there’s a long row of glass front coolers with a really wide selection of cold drink options — plus coffee choices as well.
Don’t go if your in a rush, but if you have the time Utopia Bagels are worth the wait.

The service here is absolutely horrible. The bagels and sandwiches are good… Not great. The prices are ok. The place looks cool. But the service is horrible, anytime of the day.

Thankfully I went on a weekday morning where it was not that busy. They have the most freshest bagels ever! Their lox and scallion cream cheese on everything bagel is seriously bomb. A little pricey though I spent about $ 30 for 3 bagels and 2 coffees. Overall I do recommend!

Really nice store. Clean and organized. I can find whatever I need from there! Visited on last Sunday morning and had a wonderful Texas Melt Bagel, also tried Lox Bagel. They all tasted good!!! Also bought corn, lemon poppy muffins, and cannoli. Cinnamon raisin bagel also tastes good!

I’ve gone to bagel heaven and back.
Handmade, fresh bagels on the spot. Reasonable prices. Tons of parking nearby. What more can you ask for?
On weekends, the wait can be kind of terrible but let me tell you, you will not be disappointed. Favorite bagel place in Queens to date!

Literally Bae– Goals (you see what I did there)

Utopia bagels is legendary, and bittersweet. the bitter part is the horrendous line you have to wait on. the guys who work here need to pick up the slack and run it faster.
they recently renovated and the place look fabulous. there are more seats to sit and it finally looks professional. they even sell their own gear– hoodies and shirts!
the chicken grilled is my favorite. the tex mex is good for those who like spicy stuff.
the BLT is always a classic, you can’t go wrong with anything here. best bagel spot in the universe. fight me on that one.

I love bagels but I really love Utopia bagels. They are fresh and chewy. The selection is great and the bagels are so fresh that some of them are still warm. They are so good they don’t need toasting. They have those tiny little blisters on the crust. That means they were properly boiled and baked. During my visit to Queens I had an onion bagel with scallion cream cheese and a bialy with plain cream cheese. Utopia bagels knows that cream cheese needs to be kept at or just slightly below room temperature. If not then it doesn’t have the proper consistency and flavor. They have a nice selection of smoked fish and salads to go with the bagels. Their rainbow cookies were very good too. I’ll be back next time I’m in Queens. I schlepped a dozen bagels on the airplane back to St. Louis!

Probably one of the best bagel shops in queens. Came back here for the first time, after they finished their renovations and I really liked what they did with the place.
The line here can get long on the weekends, but people come here and wait knowing it’s worth it. They have a huge section of not just bagels, but baked goods and sandwiches you can order as well. The bagels here are always fresh and made onsite. They have a wide selection of drinks as well and plenty of seating room.
I came here recently and ordered the chicken time on an everything bagel. It was chicken salad with bacon on a toasted bagel and it did not disappoint. My friend ordered the lox with cream cheese and they were generous with the lox here — not packaged either! Can’t wait to try their flagels next time.

After waiting on line for 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon, sorely disappointed! Ordered a toasted sesame bagel with butter. I got a burnt sesame bagel with butter. If it wasn’t so cold I would go back and ask for a new one!

Best bagels EVER! have yet to find a better bagel place. Didn’t give it 5 stars because it gets chaotic in there and the staff isn’t always so friendly.

Upon reading all these wonderful Unilocal reviews I decided to pick up some late breakfast.
I ordered the chicken time on a poppy seed roll which was a great combo of chicken salad and bacon. Also had the lox spread on an everything bagel; the bagel had great taste and texture but the lox spread was a bit too fishy for my preference. I manage to grab a container of rainbow cookies as well which were very yummy.
The line was ridiculous at 8am on a Saturday morning, it was practically almost out the door. You would think with so much staff that things would be moving along a lot quicker, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Honestly the best bagels I have ever eaten. The place has been remodeled and provides much more space for the hungry customer.

My favorite thing to order at Utopia bagels is the french toast bagel, lightly toasted with butter. It is sooo good. This place got me through my mornings when I was in high school. Back then I would constantly have their sesame bagel with cream cheese. They have great bagels and their cream cheese is always fresh. I have also tried their tuna salad wrap which is delicious. Great neighborhood spot.

Probably one of the best bagels in NYC. The bagels are chewy and have the right amount of crisp on the outside once toasted. The toppings are a little light, but not bad. Parking is easy, but there is usually a crowd, so plan accordingly.

My favorite bagel place of all time. There is always a line but sometimes you get lucky and there’s no line. That’s when I run to the store lol. I get the everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese. Their vegetable cream cheese taste freshly made and has an abundant amount of vegetables. Their bagels are crunchy yet soft enough. Each bagel is fresh and it’s all made in the store. I always crave this whenever I’m nearby. Even their sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel is amazing here.

I ordered sausage egg and cheese bagels sandwiches. Everything is fresh and service is good. It’s kind of one to one serve to the customer. The only problem is not very organized. People were confused about where is the line started for ordering, and where is for pick up. I was waiting on the line, and ppl told me the line is from the other side, when i moved to the other side, ppl told this is not the line! Everything is perfect, but waiting line needs to be organized!

Utopia bagels are the perfect combination of soft and tasty. Whenever we’re headed for the beach in the summer. Utopia bagel is the first stop to get a ham/​bacon egg and cheese and some coffee or nesquik. They’re sandwiches are always made to perfection and their salads are noteworthy as well. The chicken salad is what I favor most. However, it can sometimes be on the peppery side. Definite must try for bagels in the area!

My boyfriend recommended this place to me and was raving about it being the best bagels he ever had. So I had to go find out for myself. First off it is a popular spot because the moment we walked in a herd of people came after us and the line was so long. So I would recommend going early and it also helps that they open early haha. The space is very casual looking but also neat in a way. I love the huge woodening tables and the stolls. The color scheme is nice, they have a huge selection of drinks on the right side of the entrance. All great drinks to go with the bagels. There is a wide selection of cream cheeses which is very exciting because I plan to try like all of them haha. I got the most recommended bagel from Unilocal which was the sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel and boy did that deliver. It was made fast and so amazing. The flavors were popping the egg was cooked really nicely everything came together in the bagel. Great blend of flavors. I also got the lox with egg bagel and scallion cream cheese. It was really tasty. The lox is salty but I like the blend of the scallion cream cheese with it. The food was made to order and the staff is super fast. So even though there is a hug line, it s worth it. The bagels on total were a bit pricey but it is worth going every so often to try different bagel places. Highly recommend going!

Hands down the best bagels I have ever had. So moist and fresh and delicious… it doesn’t get better than this.
Every bagel is fresh and sometimes they are even hot because they just got out of the oven!

I’m not sure how they do it but the bagel here was amazing. They give a good amount of lox and it wasn’t overly expensive. I think it was pretty good price for all! I will def be coming back!

The new layout with longer lines and cash registers that do not show price to the customer make it much easier to say no to this place.
Why they did not create a line for people who want bagels only is mind boggling.

Be careful– will ruin any and every other bagel for you.

Utopia bagels is my hometown bagel spot. I don’t come that often anymore since I have moved. The other day I stopped by and I sure do miss this place. I ordered the whole wheat everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. The bagels are freshly made throughout the day. They always have fresh bagels because the lines are crazy in the morning. Their egg white wraps are also amazing for breakfast here and their tuna salad is really good too.

What, my friend’s husband stood on line for an hour this morning to get this for us. It went around the block. It came super warm and fresh. Friend thinks they must put some sticky rice in the batter cuz it’s just so darn soft and chewy. I had the everything bagel with veggie cream cheese.
I’m on a healthy carb thing but man did this throw a wrench in my plans. But it was so freakin worth it.
Gonna bring my husband here the next time we get to eat brunch.

Best Bagels in town! I’ve been coming here over 20yrs and have not found any other bagel place that compares. The long lines prove they are in demand. Bagels are made on premises and go so fast that warm batches seem to always be available when you arrive. If you are a bagel lover this is the place to go. Besides fresh bagels, Utopia Bagels offers typical deli items, and great breakfast sandwiches.

If you see a line outside the store, you know there’s something special about this place. Utopia bagels has got to be one of the top shops in all of NY. Their bagels are the finest example of the perfect bagel. A must try for bagel lovers!!!
For your health nuts, I recommend the low carb bagel. I don’t know the macros of the bagel but I sure know it’s delicious! I’m a huge fan of their low-​fat scallion cream cheese.

As a customer who usually likes to place semi-​complicated orders, I’m always a bit put off by employees that assume they can remember yours without writing it down. Even after I suggested he grab a pen and paper, and him insisting he didn’t need to, he returned to the counter several times to clarify which ingredients were going where. Really?
Apart from that first impression, Utopia is hands down the best bagel spot in my neighborhood. The bagels themselves are a bit larger and have a better texture than the ones from other local shops. They do not skimp on spreads and meats at all, and prices are generally cheaper than their competition. They also offer hot sandwiches and pastries that are freshly baked on premises. I foresee myself becoming a regular~
