History

Established in 2010.

The Gracie Barra School of Whittier was founded in Sep 2010. Our school is the result of the efforts of Prof. Marco Feitosaa, a 3rd Degree Black Belt under Master Carlos Gracie Jr.

We offer world-​class level Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu instruction for individuals, families, and Law Enforcement officials of South Los Angeles and is a reference for fitness, character development, self-​defense, martial art, and Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu training for the communities of Whittier, Hacienda Heights, La Mirada and La Habra.

The Gracie Barra Whittier classes are aligned with the Gracie Barra Program Structure developed by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. to meet specific learning needs from people with different ages, gender and levels. Our clean, friendly, and progress oriented environment allows the students to have a challenging, inspirational, and warm learning and training experience that always make them feel like coming back.

Gracie Barra is the real deal! I have been training here since January of 2015. Professor Pedro Rodrigues knows his stuff and we’re damn lucky to have him! The adults that train here have a lot of talent! Come roll with us.. . the program incorporates specific and high intensity training. We have people here with all levels of skill. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, this school has someone at your level. If you’re just looking to lose weight, I started at 230 lbs and now I am a solid 210 dropping inches from my waste and I feel better than when I was in my 20’s. Come with a positive attitude and a desire to learn and this school will become your second home! So come on out; we’ll be waiting on the mat for you!

This is a great jujitsu gym!!! Professor Pedro is awesome and really knows his techniques. Great place for kids and adults. My 6 yr old has been coming for almost 3 yrs.
FYI they have kids spar Friday’s. Woohoo!!!

This place is perfect for all walks of life young and old, you learn self defense, respect and discipline all while getting an amazing work out. The boot camp class is great too. Muay Thai is super fun as well. I highly recommend you at least try a class you won’t regret it.

Gracie Barra Whittier is THE place to go for great Jiujutsu instruction! The instructors are very experienced and make learning the martial art accessible for everyone. Class always has a very positive vibe each member is encouraging and are there to learn. By joining this school I have always felt welcome and a part of the community. I would recommend this school to beginner’s and blackbelts alike!

Gracie Barra Whittier has a lot to offer. From its world class instruction and dedicated staff and coaches, to its accommodating mat space and well maintained facility, GB Whittier is an awesome place to learn the art of jiu jitsu. But what really makes Gracie Barra Whittier special is the family environment. Whether it be the Kids or Adults, the family atmosphere permeates all classes. Students train hard and take classes seriously, but there is always a sense of respect amongst teammates. Even the kids display a great sense of discipline and camaraderie that is beyond there years. So if you’re looking to challenge yourself, learn a new art and get in shape, be a part of a new family, and most importantly have fun, come try a free class because Gracie Barra Whittier is the place for you!

Finding myself getting older (47) I decided to try getting into better shape doing something a little more than just going to the gym. I thought BJJ would do the trick but I thought it might be a little intimidating since I didn’t have much experience. After training there for almost 9 months, I absolutely love it… I’ve lost weight and feel in great shape… and everyone there has been great to train with! and it wasn’t intimidating at all as I felt very welcome and comfortable there from day 1.

joining Gracie Barra Whittier is by far the best decision i had made in years, since i had join this family i had grown as an human being, there is so many students (BROTHERS AND SISTERS) from diferent backgrounds the vibe is great there is always a black belt professor or a very capable purple and blue belt intructors, no like other schools that have more intructors than students wish affects the learning LOTS of mat room, clean and maintain facility lots of parking lot family oriented great classes for kids, i love the fact that as member you get unlimmited training hours morning and afternoon hours are the best, also you can visit other Gracie Barra schools with out charge, long story short if you want real Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Whittier Ca come down to Gracie Barra or find those wanna be MMA mickey mouse schools with blue belt instructor playing with sticks is your choice.

Gracie Barra Whittier is awesome I love being a part of this family. Professor Bruno is so great with the kids, they are always so excited to see him and makes learning so easy and fun for the little ones. The best part is seeing the progress from the kids as well as adults from the start, within weeks of training my 7 year old son was doing armbars, rear naked chokes, and triangles. I am a women and train here. I have never felt intimidated in fact there is much enthusiasm for more women to train. If you have ever thought about trying this sport out I would highly recommend and they offer a free lesson your first time so you have nothing to loose.
