Adjustment/​Fitting of your glasses

Eyes Exams-​Exams for myopia, extreme Astigmatism, children’s exams.

Retinal Examinations-​including but not limited to detection of macular degenaration. HBP, Diabetic, anvirism, tumors.

We are open Monday through Saturday.

Maintaining healthy eyes requires a yearly vision and eye examination. The Center for Disease Control,(CDC) says the best preventative technique, for an adult, is a yearly eye examination.

Dr. Galvan has been practicing in Whittier since 1981. Dr. Galvan received his Doctorate Degree from Pacific University College of Optometry, located in Forest Grove, Oregon. His Bachelor of Science degree is also from Pacific University. He is in private practice, and is a participating provider for several HMO’s, including but not limited to Medical Eye Services, Vision Service Plan, and Blue Cross. Dr. Galvan enjoys practicing in Whittier, and supports his community in several different ways. His practice has been recognized for being «cutting edge» and possessing state of the art technology and diagnostic equipment. Dr. Galvan fits all types of specialty contact lenses. Another large sector of his practice is devoted to children’s vision.

Be ready to wait a while if you have an appointment — I waited 1 hour 45 minutes after my appointment to be seen by the Dr. It seems like they overbook their appointments. 2 other individuals were in the same boat as I. The irritating part was that the Dr was arrogant and condescending. Not going back!

We’ve been going to see Gr Galvan for at least 15 years. Even though we live in Anaheim we drive to Whittier because of the service we get from Dr Galvan and his staff. Went to see Dr Galvan for my post cataract surgery exam today. The office staff is always very friendly and accommodating. Dr Galvan examed my eyes and I have 20⁄15 distance vision! Very knowledgeable and great staff!

I took my younger sister in to get contacts, and we left with her in tears. Dr. Galvan did not have time to explain to my sister why she was unable to see clearly in her new prescription and or explain why they were «different» now. He brushed us off saying «we didn’t have the education to comprehend it,» then proceeded to explain how much schooling he went through.(As if we didn’t understand that he was a doctor). He was so disrespectful, condescending and rude.
As my sister was sitting in the chair in tears, searching for a solution to the mistakes he made regarding her prescription strength, he came back in the room only to say, «go see a different doctor.» I’ve never met a doctor that would dismiss a patient simply because he didn’t have time to explain her case. He was completely unprofessional.
The office staff was very accommodating and helped throughout the 4 hours we were stuck there. This is the only reason I gave one star.

The only reason this place even has a one star is because the staff was beyond friendly. The lady who sits to the far left, I unfortunately didn’t catch her name, was beyond helpful. HOWEVER. Dr. Mark Galvan was the rudest most unprofessional Dr. I have ever encountered. I understand a wait is to be expected upon an appointment, but TWO hours for an optometrist appointment, when I was the FIRST patient of the day is utterly absurd. I arrived when they first opened at 9:10ish to sit and wait 25 min before I was told he was running around 30 min late and to come back, or wait. I decided to go home and change for my 11:30 work shift I had coming up thinking I would have plenty of time to leave Drs, get lunch and head to work. After leaving the first time I came back around 35 – 40 min later which was around 10 and was then told to wait in room and that the Dr. Would be with me shortly. I sat in the room until 11 and there was still no Dr. It was then after a total of being there TWO hours I decided to leave since I needed to be in work in 30 min. I was about to give him a piece of my mind but my boyfriend beat me to it. He confronted Dr. Galvan and told him how unprofessional and rude it was to make me wait that long when he was just around the corner shootin the shit with another colleague or associate. I could hear him from my patient room the entire time. I understand there will always be a wait upon entering any kind of Drs office, but when that wait turns into two hours, especially being the first patient of the day, that is just not acceptable. Dr. Galvan should be ashamed of himself for not taking better pride in patient satisfaction, especially considering the snarky comment he made to us on our way out by saying he had better things to do like take care of his other patients. I hope you lose your practice and that your other wonderful staff finds a better working environment. I will definitely be taking my services elsewhere, as well as several other individuals who gave them their business in the past.

Dr. Candice Galvan is my optometrist. My daughter and I went in for a check up. And she is super friendly and great with the kids. Very informative. This optometrist is near me in the city of Whittier. I got my new prescription for my glasses, everything was good. I recommend this eye doctor.

I’ve been going here since I’ve been on my parents insurance plan. Have my own now, but Dr Galvan (both father and daughter) are extremely skilled and talented at their craft. My last check up with Candice only took 25 minutes of examinations to determine I needed a fairly stronger prescription. Once my glasses come in I won’t feel like such a danger in the road anymore. Dennis is always speedy processing the orders and can be counted on to help you with any problems and questions you have about lens and frames selection. Great job guys

Dr. Mark Galvan provides the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. He could tell that I was suffering from allergies just by examining my eyes and had the perfect remedy for my eye irritation. He is very cordial and makes sure he addresses all of your concerns. I am very happy I found him and have recommended him to my family and friends.

Yesterday I saw Dr. Candice for the first time. And let me tell you, boy was she wonderful! She took the time to sit and talk with me, to get important information from me as well as to make me comfortable with her. She answered every question and she really went above and beyond to help accommodate my requests. She was sweet, extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. I have anxiety issues when it comes to my eye appointments and it took no time for me to loosen up and become comfortable with her. Highly recommend and will continue to come back in the future.

I’ve been going to Dr Galvan’s office for 15 years. You get a very throough eye exam! While examing the health of the eye they can see red flags for other health problems that often can be caught earlier because of the thorough eye exam they provide. Very nice and helpful staff. I HIGHLY recommend them for your eye care!

The 2 stars is for the front desk staff. I was out of contacts and had placed an online order, it was 5 days before the order was to come in. I called hoping there would be a lens there I could purchase and the front desk Christine pulled my file and said there was absolutely nothing since they dont carry torric lenses. All I could say was ok. Unfortunately, the order I received was incorrect. So again I call the Dr’s office in hopes of some kind of help and spoke with Dennis this time, he pulled my file and I told him I didnt care if it wasnt the exact prescription or just a normal lens I just needed something to hold me over. Again, they said there was nothing they could do and had absolutely nothing there. Being such an established buisness and the Dr’s being so helpful, having this experience with the office staff was beyond dissapointing. I will be changing Dr’s because of the staff not the Doctors. Now am I still contact-​less and now Doctor-​less.

My father introduced me to Dr. Galvan when I was a college student and still covered under his insurance policy. After I completed my education and was able to select my own healthcare provider, I made sure that Dr. G’s office accepted my vision plan. Ever since then, I have been a loyal client/​patient at his office.
We all know that good medical care is hard to come by and when you find a competent/​compassionate doctor, you work hard to maintain continuous care! We only have one set of eyes and many people take their vision for granted. Sadly, I have been bespectacled since I was in Kindergarten! Later, I found out that my vision was far worse than I thought. It’s so bad that I can’t even get LASIK eye surgery since my cornea is too thin!
The amount of knowledge that Dr. Galvan possesses is quite impressive. He is able to present information to people of various backgrounds using layman’s language without insulting your intelligence. Dr. G has also provided many options for me when I felt uneasy about either the type of lenses in my frame or my inability to have LASIK eye surgery. He is very confident in what he presents to his patients, standing behind what he says and the products that he offers.
I’ve had issues with my lenses being made of a material that proved to be defective and the lab that they used remade my lenses at no cost. This has happened on two separate occasions, after the warranty was up! I cannot begin to explain how pleased I am to have been a patient at this office for over 15 years! I always return to to his office because they know me when I walk through the doors and they are always prepared to deal with my issues. I have specific people that I like to interact with when I’m here because they are already used to me. Plus, when I’m unsure as to whether the frame makes me look nerdier than I already am, it’s nice to have a second and third opinion from people who know my style!
No matter where I’m living in So Cal, I’ll always come back to Dr. Galvan’s office because customer care is of the utmost importance!

I was recommended to Dr Galvan in 1988 and have been visiting his office ever since. Now I see Dr Candice on a regular basis. Their staff has always been very professional, patient and thorough with their examinations and recommendations. Even staying late in order to accommodate my crazy schedule. I am all about customer (patient) service, and these folks have it!

I took my 4 year old son to see Dr Candice Galvan for the first time. She was very interactive and had a natural ability to make my son feel comfortable. She was informative and explained everything in detail. She was so awesome that my wife made an appointment with her and she said, «it was the best eye exam ever.» Karay was also helpful in helping my wife pick out glasses. I will be making an appointment for myself as well.

A few weeks ago I wrote a review and I wanted to update on how it all worked out.
A few days after my attempt to schedule an appointment, Dr. Galvan himself contacted me and was apologetic about the situation. I was able to schedule my appointment as well as one for my husband for a Saturday, just as I originally intended.
Of course we were not dissapointed. Great service and same great treatment I remembered.
We have since ordered and picked up our new glasses and are EXTREMELY happy with the results.
I wanted to say how much I appreciate the personalized approach we received from the doctor and the staff.

Dr. Galvan is an excellent, thorough, and friendly eye doctor, and he really took his time to make sure that my complicated prescription was properly diagnosed. He’s got tons of experience, and I had a much better eye exam there than I previously had at a JC Penney where there was apparently a newbie optometrist that got my prescription wrong. I’ve got a new optometrist — Dr. Galvan — and I’ll be sure to recommend him to others.
If I could recommend any areas for improvement, it would be for them to stock a larger selection of frames for men.

I went to this optometrist for years, until I lost my health insurance. He’s a great guy, very nice, and even though he only saw me once a year, he remembered what was going on in my life. So either he’s got a great memory or he takes notes on my chart, but either way, win.
I’ve never had any issues with my glasses or contacts here, and they seem to get orders turned around pretty quickly.
The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because no matter what day or time my appointment was, I usually had to wait about a half hour… even if I was the only person in the waiting room. So bring a book!

So far so good! Went in for the works. All the tests and eye exams came back good. Got fitted for contacts (1st time ever), no problem. Mr. Mark Galvan seems to be on top of his game. I have a follow up appointment for lessons on how to use and clean the contact lenses. Update to follow…

I made an appointment to get contacts for the first time here. They let me stay after the store was closed, due to my late appointment. Everyone there was very friendly, And I got great explanations as a first time contacts user the difference between all the contact lenses out there! Great place.
