Music Revolution

Should be called smoke shop revolution, nothing about it has to do with music anymore.

Been going to music rev for years! Always have the latest upcoming concert tickets and great smoke products. I went in to buy a CD for a gift – didn’t have it, but were able to order it and have it within a week since most people stream their music online for free these days. Including me lol. They have a mini vinyl selection for all you vinyl lovers – said they were getting more soon & guy said to come back for 10% off which was dope. Always getting my family/​friends gifts from here. A definite go to spot. been in the business for over 40 yrs so they know what they’re doing. Check it out during holidays too they have good sales: D

This use to be the spot back in the early to mid 90s. I remember seeing Cypress Hill shopping for records here, B real and Sen Dog. The smell of patchouli oil always takes me back to music rev. I know that the old dj that use to work there now is a dj on KDAY. But back to the music part of this review. The vinyl days are over in this store. Only known for its «stoner» gear now.

This place isn’t just a store… its an institution! A legacy! Love music revolution ever since growing up. I hear they just celebrated their 40 year anniversary! Awesome.
As a youth this was the only place I came for my festival /​event tickets. We used to all pile up in one of our cars and head over to Music Rev. Ah, the memories.
Check this place out. They got tons of dope gear and snapbacks, smoking accessories, and of course — music! They’re willing to special order anything you need. Anthony is always super polite and helpful — thanks bud!

Hmmmmmm… very confused… walked in to buy the MADEON «ADVENTURE» album because the sign says «music revolution» thinking it was any other music store even thought was aware of the smoke stuff… I walked in and its 85% Bongs and other smoke stuff 10% Clothing and 5% music… the dude offered me to have them special order the album but I could just do that from home if I wanted to. Just… change the sign because there is definitely no music there.

Called earlier today asking for tickets to see Dj Snake @ The Observatory, the lady said yeah they have them in stock, so im all worked up and excited considering the fact that the tics are sold out but you can still find some laying around through some vendors. Called back again saying «How many tickets do you guys have for Dj Snake because it is rush hour and I do not want to make the drive from Long Beach to there during this time» She replies with, «We have about 5 – 10 tickets left.» So I’m like sweet! I’ll head there right now since the tics are so in demand and scared of them being sold out. So I take the drive there during rush hour, about an hour drive just to go 11 miles. Get to the store all hyped on scoring some tickets. Cash ready waltzing in and said, «I called earlier for the Dj Snake tics» then she says oh yes 2 tics for Dj Quik will be 70 $. At this point my heart dropped and I told hear oh no Dj Snake is what im looking for then she goes on the computer, «Ohhhh I thought you said Dj Quik over the phone, sorry we’re sold out of the Dj Snake tics» Then continues on ignoring the fact that I called twice, stated clearly what I wanted, making the drive there and back was already 2 hours of my time wasted. I would possibly consider it an honest mistake on her part, but I did call twice: The First time asking if they had Dj Snake tics, and the Second time asking how many of the Dj Snake tickets did they have. Stating the name clearly on both calls, while over the phone the background was dead quiet and when i walked in there were only 2 customers just browsing not talking to her. This just really pissed me off, loyal customer of Music Revolution for about 4 years until now. Sorry was all she had to say. I regret walking out the store without saying a word, at this moment I feel like I should’ve yelled at the whole place, shame on me for that, but most of all shame on Music Rev for causing this horrible experience.

This place may have the «Music Rev» sign outside, but it is definitely NOT Music Rev. Haven’t been here for a while because I had no need for new vinyl, but I recently bought a USB turntable to start converting my collection and thought it would be cool to start buying vinyl again as a hobby. Decided to stop by good o’le Music Rev, at first I was surprised to see that they moved across the street next to Chris n Pitts. Then I was shocked to see how small it was now, no bigger than a liquor store. Then I was supremely disappointed to learn that they NO LONGER SELL VINYL… very sad day for me… the Music Rev that I knew and loved is dead and gone, this place is nothing more than a smoke shop with a few T-​shirts and three racks of CD’s…very sad… R.I.P. Music Rev.

In an era of digital music I can still come here and buy an old school cd from Dr Dre, The Beatles, some Teena Marie and maybe a cool Jimi Hendrix shirt. They moved from across the mini-​mall to a spot in between the Kragen & Rite-​Aid. They still have the typical decent service and excellent parking.
They have a huge section of posters which have all types of music stars, sorry no Justin Beiber. They also have inspiration, political and cultural posters inlcuding the Native American 10 Comandments. They have clothing, incense candles and more adult items like pipes.
They usually have all kinds of fliers and announcements for parties in the front area. I will probably be back to get a couple of posters, unframed.

There is alot of underground and local hip hop acts products sold here. Incense, some graffiti art supplies. They have posters and shirts. You can also buy tickets for shows like Roch the Bells and such. I usually stop in back to see all the waterpipes and trip out on all the odd things they sell.

Great spot! Great music and great shirts… go here for all your classic or indepedent hip hop cd’s, they have all them good ones u can’t find anywhere else… the shirts are also unique altho I have noticed a decrease in selection. :(. Also has a lil nice tobacco shop inside.
