Our cupcake bakery offers an array of flavors, textures and designs to compliment any occasion.

History

Established in 2011.

We have spent the last couple of years working towards perfecting our cupcake recipes. We strive to create the kind of product we’ve dreamed about having in our neighborhood and yours. We still bake everything fresh in small batches, using only the richest and finest ingredients. We continue to offer a gorgeous selection of delicious cupcakes and awesome cookies for your special occasions. And, of course, we’re always happy to talk with you about custom orders for birthday parties, weddings and that anniversary you forgot was right around the corner.

Julie and her good friend Liz have been baking for most of their lives. They enjoyed baking, decorating and sharing their treats with everyone so much that they decided to open a cupcake shop in Whittier and all the pieces fell into place as Julie worked diligently to get the shop open. I love this place! Their storefront is so cute as well as the interior. I’ve tried several of their cupcakes and they were all pretty good. The cookies and cream one is my favorite, along with the pumpkin patch. It’s a short walk from Whittier College where I go to school, so I’m a fan of them. I’m almost positive they give Whittier students discounts too, but can’t remember what it was exactly. Be sure to ask, a lot of stores and shops in Uptown give special offers to WC students.

2 and half stars. The cake pop was very good but it is not cake like it’s more like fudge brownie! Good thing I love fudge brownies lol!
The pbj cupcake is the best that iv tried, and iv tried cookies and cream, Reese, and cookie dough. All of Their cupcakes are super, super heavy!!! Cookie dough was just gross and extremely thick not a cupcake more like a muffin! Will probably not be coming back here rather take a drive to OC for better cupcakes.

Oh my gosh where do I start?! These sweets are to die for! Delicious! Sweet expressions catered my brother’s birthday and everyone was wanting more. All I can say is amazing! Definitely having them cater at my son’s birthday:)

Love the cupcakes here. Julie and Amanda are both very nice. The prices are reasonable. I just ordered all of my wedding cupcakes from here and we picked snickerdoodle, lemon drop, reverse resses, and razzle dazzle.

Awesome cupcakes! But i think the Reverse Reeses needs more peanut butter and less chocolate. I hope they’ll make one and call it peanut butter lover’s. Chunky Monkey is my favorite. Moist, and perfect banana flavor. Icing is very sweet but I think icing is to please the eye more than the palate anyway. I always take 80% of the icing off before I eat them.

Glad to find a cupcake place not a drive to Los Angeles. Nice little shop in downtown Whittier and a good place to walk around.
The only thing that bothered me was the frosting was too sweet. I’m not sure if it was just this batch. But it doesn’t turn me off to the place. Loved the What’s Up Doc carrot cake the frosting wasn’t too sweet on that one.

Sugar Expressions has really good cupcakes and their customer service is awesome. Just a good place to visit when you’re in the mood for some sweets.
My daughters are big fans of their cookies n’ cream. They’re carrot cake cup cake is really good.
If you’re in the area definitely give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.

I was walking in Uptown Whittier with the bf just hanging out and this caught my eye! Cupcakes! My oh my!
I walked in without thinking twice and ordered half a dozen.
Half a dozen for $ 16.
I ordered the revered reeses peanut butter cup (so delicious! and moist)
carrot cake (Love it! Not your average carrot cake)
Red velvet (eh it was okay)
Chocolate chip cookie dough (my bro made the cupcake his b**ch…he loved it)
I ordered one with a strawberry on top with pink frosting. I don’t know the name… but it was yummy.
Lastly, I ordered Snickerdoodle… it was yummy… too must frosting.
Each cupcake costs $ 2.75 which is pretty cheap to me since Sprinkles is $ 3.50 and tinier.
Sugar Expressions: If you are reading this, could you possibly put less frosting on the cupcakes? It’s toooo much frosting and I end up throwing it away!
Will be coming back… haha Of course. i’m going to day with my mother! You better have the reeses cupcake!

Sugar Expressions is right off Greenleaf just passing Philadelphia! There is some street parking right in front. The inside has quite a few tables to enjoy your cupcakes.
Brought in my 2 yr old niece to grab a couple cupcakes. She said she wanted a pink one and I planned to grab a red velvet for my son. So as we walked in we were greeted right away. The ladies behind the counter were setting up cupcakes and cookies in the display case. They all looked so yummy!
As I checked in I noticed that there was a check-​in offer, get a free cupcake with purchase of one and a beverage. SCORE! So we got the chocolate raspberry cupcake for her (since it was pink) and Big Red for my son as well as a hot chocolate all for $ 4.25, not a bad deal!
We took the cupcakes home and whoa! The frosting was soooo sweet! So the chocolate raspberry is obviously a chocolate cupcake with raspberry filling and frosting! The cupcake was a little dry but still tasty. I wanted to try the red velvet but my son gobbled it up. No complaints on his end.
Good cupcakes and decent price. 3.5 stars!

Today I went this afternoon. I was using check in offer Get one free cupcake in order must purchase beverage and one cupcake. Which mean got two cupcakes madness minty and reverse Reese cupcakes. I was very disappointed how the taste was. The Madness Minty topping taste good but frosting was too much sweet, taste weird and DRY. Also the Reverse Reese cupcake I dislike either. I didn’t finish both cupcakes. What a waste!
Last time I went there beginning of Jan 2013 I ordered Pink Champagne cupcake taste good and moist.
I was disappoint how my cupcakes turn out today. The staff were friendly and not bad atmosphere. The mini cupcakes was kind of overprices. I wouldn’t go this place again.
I like Dots cupcakes in Pasadena the best!

I ordered a dozen cupcakes for the family and most were really good. Now, I like a solid cupcake but a couple of these selections were too dense. The flavors were tasty — and the frosting really makes the cupcakes here — but there is a fine line between cupcake and rubber biscuit and Sugar Expressions is walking that line.
Plenty of variety adds to this places allure: Cookies & Cream, Carrot Cake, Red Velvet, Chocolate Peppermint (seasonal), Peanut Butter & Jelly… and the list goes on.
I’m still thrown off by this Unilocal «deal» — the dozen I ordered was the same price in store without buying the deal on Unilocal,so buyer beware.
Service was great. Storefront is adorable. I’m sure I’ll be back (just crossing my fingers that the cupcake consistency next time is more, uh… well, consistent)

It’s been a while that I’ve been craving some cupcakes and when I found this on Unilocal I got excited. When I came in it was quiet, nice, and clean. I was pleasantly overwhelmed by the options they had of cupcake flavors. They also had the option of mini cupcakes to choose from.
I ordered the Cookies ‘n’ Cream for my girlfriend (which she loved) and snickerdoodle for myself. The snickerdoodle was good but I wouldn’t have minded a bit more flavor. It tasted too much like any other baked good. We both agreed that the frosting to cupcake ratio was kinda off, with too much frosting for the cupcake.
I really liked the nice boxes they packed the cupcakes in, which my girlfriend later took advantage of to give individual cupcake presents to her coworkers. It’s a great place to buy well prepared and packaged baked goods for family, friend, or events.

So I decided to give this place a second shot at redemption. A few months ago I came and bought the chocolate raspberry cupcake with the raspberry filling. Being a the chocoholic that I am I figured this would be a no brainer so I went with the chocolate option. The cupcake was dry and that was a total upset. I didn’t care for the raspberry filling, it was too sweet for my taste and the icing did not taste like raspberry and it was too sweet as well. I felt I had to give this place another try before I went on a rant.
Now today I tried their «chunky monkey» cupcake. OMG! One bite in and I was in banana peanut heaven. I knew I was done for after the first bite. I devoured that sucker in a manner of seconds! First let’s talk about the icing: light frothy with a subtle hint of peanut topped with a banana chip. The slight trace of peanut had somewhat of a Mexican marzipan candy flavor to it. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s a small round pressed powdery type candy called «mazapan». It’s flavor is not as strong as the candy but it had similar notes and that’s what made it unique and tasty.
Now for the bread: banana, banana, banana! Tasted just like banana and it was soft and moist. A little dense where you will need something to drink in the end, but hey I’m not complaining because the flavor was all there.
I bought a chocolate oreo cookie one as well but thats for later. I may just review that one after the first bite…

That being said, frosting can make it or break it for me in regards to cupcakes. Isn’t the frosting the whole point of a cupcake? =)
Sugar Expressions is cute cupcakery in Uptown that sells wonderful looking cupcakes for $ 2.75 each. The mini ones are $ 1.75. I bought 3 and got 1 free through the Unilocal check in offer. But you need to purchase a drink too.
–Chunky monkey (peanut butter frosting over a banana cake): FABULOUS. The frosting tasted like reeses pieces (one of my favorite candies!). Soooooooo heavenly and not over sweet. The cake was moist. There was a good frosting to cake ratio.
–Raspberry chocolate (raspberry frosting over chocolate cake filled with raspberry jam): loved the cake! moist and the jam was a good amount. Went well with the cake. The frosting was meh. Didn’t taste too much like raspberry and was a little too sweet. I honestly could have done without it.
–Snickerdoodle (cinnamon frosting over cinnamon cake): I didn’t like this one. It tasted like white cake and regular butter cream. The cinnamon was barely there. Way too much frosting and it was too sweet. The cake was also dry. I wouldn’t get this again.
The last one I bought was a lemon cupcake. But I gave it away. All the cupcakes here are heavy and a bit dense. So they aren’t skimping on the batter, that’s for sure. =P
Cute interior. They have a room in the back to celebrate birthdays. Service was really friendly and helpful.
I’d come back to try other flavors. There are so many! The flavor of the month right now is orange. They also sell cake push pops! Cute idea.

Amazing… tasty…cant just have one :)
I’m always pleased every time i come and have some of there cupcakes, they are always so tasty. The assortment of cupcake they offer is great, There «What’s up doc» cupcake is so moist and flavorful. You cant go wrong with any flavor. When you are in the mood for some chocolate you cant go wrong with there Tuxedo.
Living only 5 min away i know i will stop by every time i have a sweet tooth!

Jus dropped in by today! I can’t believe the 2nd to the first review gave this place a horrible review. That sucks! She’s was totally wrong about this spot. The cupcakes were deliciously amazing! She was jus sore for her bad timing and not having cash on her! ^_​^
ANYWHO! They were bomb! They weren’t dry, or hard as a rock like some places! They were jus so amazing that they will blow your mind! Lol. Maybe I’m giving them too much props but I work at a bakery and I know what’s Damn good bread and this place was bomb!
You gotta come down! Enjoy!
