History
Established in 1987.
The history of Wichita would not be complete without two names, Walter L. Anderson & A. J. «Jimmie» King. Anderson started our nations first hamburger stand «White Castle» in a rented, remodeled street car in Wichita, KS. King purchased the Wichita brand of White Castle in 1938 and changed the name to Kings-X. The public responded well to good food, cleanliness and reasonable prices, so the Kings expanded into full service family restaurants. «Jimmie’s» son, Wayne built and opened Jimmie’s Diner on North Rock Road in 1987 as a tribute to his father.
In 2007 another local entrepreneur, Jack Davidson purchased Jimmie’s Diner and one remaining Kings-X restaurant. The spring of 2012 marked the 25th anniversary of Jimmie’s Diner and a second location at Harry and George Washington Blvd was opened. The Davidson family continues the commitment of good food, cleanliness, reasonable prices and serving the Wichita area.
