Comfort Suites Bypass

Location is great for all the Williamsburg area attractions. Lobby area is beautiful. Hotel has a modern theme that continues into the guest rooms. All areas are very, very clean. Indoor pool and hot tub, although very busy, are a nice plus. Game room was small, but our family spent some time one afternoon and enjoyed ourselves, no one else was in there at the time. Housekeeping was wonderful, kept our room clean, and left fresh towels every day. Having the sitting area in the suite with microwave and small fridge was great. Our family had the room to spread out a little, make popcorn, and play games. We requested a room on the first floor, and the hotel fulfilled our request. The only con to this was one night, the people in the room above were making loud running and jumping noises, there must have been kids. It disturbed my husband’s sleep that night. The breakfast was just ok. The eggs were instant, my husband ate them, I didn’t like them. They also had a waffle making station, but it was always too busy, but that was my decision not to wait. Some mornings there was biscuits and sausage gravy, my husband liked that. Otherwise there was fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, sometimes donuts and little Danish pastries. The coffee and hot water for tea was available at all times in lobby, which was great to have. The bold coffee was much better than the regular. The beds and linens were very good quality, and comfy. Location was also within walking distance of some restaurant options. Overall, it was a great stay, and we would stay at this property again.

Beautiful lobby, decent water pressure, nice staff! Perfect location, comfy beds which are poofy topper over hard bed; lots of thin fluff pillows. The tv kept blipping out. You could walk to Golden Corral. They have a pool which I did not use, a very nicely appointed weight room including a recumbent bike and a nice heavy duty treadmill. The best part was they had a game room! Ms. Pac-​Man, air hockey, billiards, and a couple of other games! This made for a very nice memory with one of my kids that night. I love hotel eggs! This hotel, however, they
were grainy and not very good. All of us agreed that juices were all kind of off and tasted kind of sour.

We stayed here for an overnight trip in Williamsburg with our son. Our entire experience was overall amazing. Check in was fast and efficient. Miriam was the one who checked us in and she was one of the friendliest people I’ve ever encountered. When we got to our room, we were amazed at how clean and fresh it was. No musty hotel smell that we get elsewhere. We had a minor issue with getting our AC to work, but my husband called the desk and once again, Miriam was so nice. She walked us through getting it to work and in less than 3 minutes we had air.
There were a few negatives that are the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. We went with our 7 year old son and he was excited for the game room. It was incredibly small and HOT! Another guest had a great idea to leave the door open to allow air flow. Otherwise we were miserable. There is a pool table, air hockey and some arcade games. Problem is that if someone is playing air hockey or pool, there is not much room for others to play arcade games. The prices were good though and we killed about a half an hour in there.
The pool was the other concern. The water was extremely cloudy and we were sticky when we got out. They were very busy though, but I’ve been to busy pools before that were clean. The biggest complaint was that they door leading from the hotel to the pool was unlocked. There was a sign saying so. Therefore we noticed several people coming in and when they left, they went through the door to the parking lot and walked over to the Sleep Inn across the street. They have a pool there, but it is smaller. When we went down to the pool about 9:30, there were 4 men in the hot tub drinking beer and they left after about 20 minutes to go across the street. This was a security concern to me.
We did not eat breakfast here because we slept in (thanks to Miriam again giving us a late check out! She’s my hero!). We ate at the Cracker Barrell that is within walking distance to the hotel. However, the dining area appeared very nice when we got some paper plates for our dinner. The little shop they have to purchase snacks is very reasonably priced for a hotel also.
Check out was efficient and the guy had a smile on his face and told us to have a good day. Everyone was very friendly, which is a nice change.
Others stuff: Free WIFI worked with no problems and was fast. Shower pressure was excellent. Good selection of TV channels, beds were super comfy.
We usually stay at the HIlton Homewood Suites, but it was out of our budget this trip. I have to say that aside from the pool, I think the Comfort Suites was actually better than the Hilton for a much better price. We will certainly be staying here again on our next trip through Williamsburg.

Booked this hotel after reading reviews on Unilocal,comparing distance to Colonial Williamsburg, and comparing prices of other hotels in the area. Booked a standard room with a king sized bed, and found the rate to be really reasonable (if not on the cheaper side). The hotel looked exactly as it was depicted in management’s photos and the room was tidy and open. We stayed for a weekend and ended up using the pool, hot tub, and game room. Everything was clean and easily accessible. One evening we ordered take-​out and it was brought up to the room, which was especially convenient. Both mornings we ate the hotel breakfast and it had both hot and cold options. We found it to be plenty (eggs, potatoes, sausage, baked apples, cereal, waffles, yogurt, muffins, bagels, toast, oranges, apples). The front desk staff was also friendly and helpful. We were really pleased with our stay and would like to stay here again on a return trip to the area. Great price, great room, conveniently located, nice amenities.

My family travels to Williamsburg at least twice a year and we’ve tried quite a few of the hotels both old and new in the area. This is our first time to Comfort Suites and we were not disappointed. I asked in the check-​in notes if the person checking us in could tell my mom Happy Birthday. Miriam at the front desk not only said Happy Birthday, she sang the birthday song. My mom was surprised and it made her feel special.
Beyond the great customer service we were also impressed with the modern décor, the cleanliness of the common areas and hotel rooms, the perks of the gym, game room, indoor pool, and the decent breakfast included in the price of our stay. With my AAA discount the price of our rooms was good for the area. Also, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is a nice size.
The only thing I noticed that could be improved (which is an issue in most places I’ve stayed) is that the door to our room and the wooden headboards could have been cleaner. Maids seem to have a blind spot for walls *shrug*. But that was such a minor thing and wouldn’t keep me from coming back to stay at this Comfort Suites again.

Excellent hotel and staff. Front desk is wonderful and would definitely stay here again. Very close to Busch Gardens/​Water Country.

This hotel was awesome. I found it via high ratings on Unilocal.Really affordable for a luxury hotel room, huge and came with a jacuzzi tub for just about $ 100! Also the full hot breakfast was really good and did not skimp. Closeby to all the Williamsburg attractions and more pancake houses than one could ever possibly want. The hotel location was a bit hard to find late at night but other than that– perfect!

NOTE: This used to be the Days Inn but changed name about six months ago. I stayed here in 2014 and 2015 under the Days Inn brand.
Really nice hotel at a good price. Interesting interior and theme carries throughout facility… a very modern décor, IKEA like but upscale and the look is both comfortable and attractive. Rooms are logically designed, neat and use of modern future makes space seem large. Bed was really comfortable, bathroom well appointed. Staff was very friendly and nice and helpful.
Only minor issue is breakfast offering was skimpy. They only had apples as lone fruit, multiple waffle irons was nice (however no syrup of any kind to be found)…perhaps this improves in «busy season».
Overall a great location and a nice stay both times.

Hotel was clean, modern, and spacious. The staff was ok, but not warm and friendly. There was a family reunion going on this weekend so it was noisy in the lobby most of my visit. We arrived at the dining room at 10:10 and breakfast was completely gone and the staff was cleaning up. Be sure to make it to breakfast well before 10am if you want to eat. The room was super clean, but the comforter was dirty with stains. I would’ve given them 5 stars if the staff was more friendly and the comforter was clean. I loved the modern interior design, very nice!

Just a little difficult to find. Not on main road. Needs better signage.
This place is great. For $ 100 the two of us had a room that would sleep six. Two queens and a fold out sofa. Small fidge, microwave, flat screen TV and coffee maker. Not only was the room clean, it smelled clean. The sheets were freshly washed and crisp. They could even have been new. The continental breakfast left something to be desired but it was wasn’t crowded and the food was edible. I would stay here again. Of all the places I’ve stayed in my travels, this is one of the best.

We stayed here on our honeymoon. We had a suite with a king sized bed. The bed was so comfortable. I don’t think I’ve ever slept so well in a hotel! The room was spacious with a couch. Television picture wasn’t great but we only had it on for maybe 2 hours. Bathroom was nice. We didn’t have one of the whirlpool tubs but it was spacious anyway. We didn’t have room service come in until we left. Room doesn’t have a safe which is a downside. Hotel staff as very friendly. Continental breakfast was good but sometimes over crowded that we has to go out for breakfast. The only real complaint I would have is when they put a family in the room next to us, it was very easy to hear them. So much that they woke us up. Overall a good experience and would stay here again.

We a bit worried when we arrived, because it took awhile for someone to show up at the front desk to serve us. But even just walking into the lobby, you know that this is going to be a nice hotel. It’s very chic… the black, silver and red décor are so unusual for a chain hotel. It really awed my kids and they thought they were at a «fancy» hotel. Thankfully, the prices aren’t fancy!
Our room was immaculate and just what we need for our three night stay. We had a room with two queen beds, a small divider and the double couch. We were really only in our rooms to sleep, so with five people, it worked out nicely. The toiletries in the bathrooms were nice. Everything was spotless, we had tons of towels, the A/​C worked properly. I check all the beds of hotels for any unwelcome critters and these beds were amazingly clean. The lobby is beautiful and there is a small pantry to purchase items, as well as lots of literature for sights in the surrounding area.
The pool is clean and a decent size, and there’s a hot tub as well. One of my least favorite things is that there was a high school trip from California staying there and every night the students swarmed the pool, jumping in, being a bit dangerous (especially with small kids around) and there was no chaperone in the area with them. I know it’s swim at your own risk, but I didn’t think the risk would be a 200 lb HS Junior about to fall on my kids head. :)
Breakfast was very tasty, but very, very crowded. The two waffles machines always had a looong line… and lots of the food ran out quickly. The staff seemed like they were trying hard to keep up, so I guess it’s just a small-​ish space with a huge influx of people at one time… but it made breakfast a bit chaotic. Also, please serve bananas! They’re the most portable (probably most liked!) fruit… but all they had were oranges while we were there. Overall, the breakfast items were fresh and tasty enough to fill our bellies up until lunch time.
We didn’t eat at either restaurant… but Cracker Barrel and Golden Corral were basically in the same parking lot, so you could walk to them with ease.
I highly recommend a stay here for Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. We loved our stay!

A little surprised to find this modern hotel tucked away indiscriminately in the back, not visible on the main road. The artsy lounge would have been inviting if it had a warm fireplace and perhaps not been quite so desolate. The art on the wall with the hand coming out of it holding a flower was a little eerie.
Service… was intermittent as best. The dude working the desk on Monday night was less interested in his job, though with business that slow, I guess who could blame him. Although when our toilet got clogged we were delivered a plunger and left to deal with it ourselves. So much for service, probably out of his «job description.»
The room itself was quite spacious and had a separated seating area and a firm king sized bed. They included a small fridge, microwave and a flat screen TV. The walls seemed thick enough not to hear the neighbors or the people traversing the hallway. The amenities downstairs looked nice though we didn’t use any of them. A decent gym room, swimming pool and spa, and a game room with a billiards table and a few arcade games and a tiny cubicle constituting as a «business area.» Couldn’t get any internet connection though it advertised free wifi.
The free breakfast included the adequate waffle maker, eggs, sausage, bagels, coffee, yogurt, cereal, bananas, etc.
Not a bad find.

Great Hotel!!! Very modern and clean. Friendly staff. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are a plus. We stayed at this particular location to keep from commuting while on the peninsula for a few days. Best idea ever. Close to work and very nice. Will defiantly be returning for a weekend get away.

This seems like a pretty new hotel that has weathered its first year pretty well. My wife loved the place and was taking pictures of the lobby. The room was quite spacious with a sitting area and a king sized bed, with a very firm mattress. Included in the room was a small fridge, CD radio and a flat screen TV. The breakfast included certainly is not top of the line, but definitely adequate with the obligatory waffle maker, eggs and sausage. For the price, these features would always deserve a 5 star rating.
However, there we a couple of things that required the adjustment downward. First, I am allergic to down and requested that down pillows, etc be removed. No such luck that I should see the change. minus a half point. Another negative half point was for the noise of the Fridge. It was significant enough to disrupt my sleep. The final half point deducted for was less than dependable wireless. When it worked, it worked well, but far too frequently we were disconnected and had to configure the laptop one more time.
The next time we head that direction, we’ll certainly consider giving the Comfort Suites another shot!

Bottom line: If you have a large family and don’t want to split them up between multiple rooms, this is probably one of the best deals in Williamsburg. For smaller parties, you’ll find plenty of room to spread out and a restful night’s sleep.
Location: ⁵⁄₅. convenient to the Williamsburg Visitor Center, William and Mary, restaurants, shopping, and drug/​grocery stores.
Room: ⁴⁄₅. Attractive and spacious, with plenty of electrical outlets. However, hair dryer in bathroom triggered the circuit breaker on the outlet and we were unable to reset it. Another outlet in the living area had a short. Also, one of the casters on the roll-​out large work table kept coming off. Hands down the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in – we went home and ordered the pillows and mattress for ourselves. Key cards for all four rooms in our reservation kept blanking, even though they were kept separate from credit cards and phones.
Cleanliness: ⁴⁄₅. The only area that needs more attention is the pool area.
Noise: ⁵⁄₅. Our room was next to the pool and the staircase, but we heard NOTHING at night, and the hotel was fully booked with lots of large families.
Breakfast: ³⁄₅. Hotel offers both hot and continental breakfast options, but in peak vacation season the seating area fills up by 8 AM and the lines for the waffle irons are long. Waffle batter frequently runs out. Several coffees to choose from, but we always bring our own and a French press.
Amenities: ³⁄₅. Standard cheap food service coffee in room. Good size microwave and refrigerator allowed us to pack lunches every day and save money. Pool is way too small for the number of people who use it during peak season, and kids kept cannonballing into the hot tub. Complementary pool towels were small and didn’t really absorb water. «Business center» computers always monopolized by teenagers playing games. Not enough luggage carts – only one or two for a hotel full of suites.
Service: ²⁄₅. Waited 15 minutes on arrival for the desk attendant to come in from his outside smoke break. We arrived three hours before check in and were told to come back after 3, which is not surprising, but when asked what we should do in the meantime with 4 kids and two cars full of luggage, the desk clerk had absolutely no suggestions. Staff can be difficult to locate when you need them. We requested use of the breakfast area one night to eat pizza with our party of 16 – and we offered to clean up after ourselves – and the desk clerk wanted to charge us to use the space.
Value for money: ⁴⁄₅. Paid $ 90/​night with an organization discount. Price included breakfast and the refrigerator allowed us to pack lunch, so we were left paying for only meal per day. Still, for $ 90, the service could have been a bit more accommodating.

This brand new property is centrally located in restaurant row. There are many hotel choices in Williamsburg especially with the low occupancy rate in mid winter but this property really stands out among others we have visited.
There is a breakfast buffet if you just want to venture downstairs after waking up; and a heated pool. There is no restaurant in the hotel.
The décor is retro 70s but very subtle grey, black and red. I didn’t like the red in the hall carpeting but the color scheme overall was quite retro yet modern.
We had two beds in our room and our friends shared a room across the hall. There was corian everywhere even in the shower enclosure. The bed was wonderful but I deducted one star for the low thread count sheets and hotel 1888 standard towels. With all the money thrown at this hotel fluffy towels and a high thread count would have been appreciated.
Rates were on sale at $ 89.95 per night. Parking was shared with another hotel but was adequate each night.
