Had the most lovely after work drinks with bartenders Blake, Nicole, and Harlen(sp?)… Lively conversation, air conditioning, free popcorn, TWO bathrooms, definitely something to write home about ! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a casual drink, relaxed date, catch up with friends, etc.

chill & cozy for happy hour slightly too expensive for other hours however, i am always buzzed enough by the end of happy hour that i no longer care abt how i can’t afford it by the time regular hours resume, and the old bay they offer for the popcorn is always a sight for this maryland girl’s sore eyes so well played, g&j’s

Went in there with a friend from out of town to get a drink after dinner. Were aggressively ignored by both bartenders who were just standing there pretending to be busy on their phones. I live around the corner and have been in many times and have never been treated so rudely.

Wow! Where should I start? First and foremost I understand that its a busy bar but we were a party of 3 looking to have a drink or two. Asked the bartender dude what drink he recommended and his response was simply«order a fucking beer because I dont have time to make a drink am too busy» wowwww just wowwwww this was the response I was given by the bald white dude with a beard I dont want to say its racist but I am hispanic and my two female companions were as well. Never coming back here not even to give it a second chance not to spend my hard earned money!

Would give it zero stars if it were an option. This was absolutely the worst service I had ever seen in my life. I’m not one to complain but tonight was the icing on the cake. We walked in(we were 3) and the place is packed seemed like a good sign until the bartender some dude with a red beard and no sleeve shirt asked us for Id. No biggie. One of my companions asked him(guy with red beard) for a drink he said«pick a fucking beer b/c im too busy to make a drink». WOW! Never had I ever heard such rudeness come from someone who works in a social field. Like dude WTF if you’re so miserable please QUIT! NEWYEARNEWCAREER!!! Will never be back and make sure to tell all my friends to tell their friends to tell their friends not to go here!

This is a bar I was fairly sure didn’t exist in this neighborhood. I don’t mean to say that I was convinced George & Jack’s was a figment of someone’s imagination.(Then again, who’s to say that we aren’t all merely lines of code in Keanu Reeves’s mind?) I just didn’t realize that there was a comfortable, uncrowded bar a block off Bedford that had great service and surprisingly affordable prices on an excellent and varied selection of beer. At least the bathroom smelled rank, otherwise this place would be entirely too good to be true, and I really would’ve been worried that I was going crazy.

I agree with what others say; over emotional and unprofessional bartenders make the place look bad. I personally would never want to go back just cause of this one uptight bartender. He was very smug and full of himself. Very unprofessional bartending service. *update* I have gone back to the bar a few times recently and haven’t seen the rude bartender again so I assume he’s been fired. That was a smart move. Other than that one experience George and Jacks is a fine bar and I would not want to shame it with low ratings just because of one immature employee.

This place is only getting 1 star because of the way the bouncer treated my friend at the door. The bouncer must be 6−5″ 300+ lbs. My friend is maybe half his size. Not sure how the scuffle started, I heard it was something about using the bathroom, or some other non-sense. But the crap that was coming out of the bouncers mouth made me wonder what they’re paying him to do here. I immediately had flashbacks of what happened to the guy who was put in a coma at Charleston. I began to fear for my friends safety. Luckily the bar tenders intervened before it escalated. Nevertheless, it was enough to kill the good vibe that we may or may not have been having. I also wasn’t impressed on how they treated certain customers here.

This is the perfect neighborhood bar. I’ve lived in all sorts of cities here and abroad and this is by far my favorite go-to spot for a nightcap, a night-starter, and everything in between. Graham is my bartender and he is the man. Chill music. Chill neighborhood vibe. Good beer. Low prices. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Best bar I’ve been so far. Nice music, nice people, nice vibe. I’m not a person who really loves going to bars, but this one is the exception. Will come back for sure. 100% recommended.

Great bar — nice mix on tap, good music and laid back vibe. The perfect place to hang out. Plus dogs are allowed to Seder at the bar.

Following a delicious dinner at Juniper, a friend and I made our way to George & Jack’s Tap Room for a couple of rounds of drinks. Even though it was a Friday night, we were able to grab two seats at the end of the bar. The bartender was both friendly and helpful, and the brews were refreshing. And as it never got too crowded– or too loud– we were also able to enjoy conversation and take in the scene. Furthermore, the bathrooms were clean! As good as it gets!

Great wine. And a juke box. I wish they still had darts. George is a babe. They let dogs in here, and most of them are cute. People should be required to bring their dogs with them when they do afternoon drinking.

My favorite sort of bar is a dive and here it is. This place has that great divey feel, without being borderline gross. Lots of dives will just say«screw it» and not care. You can always tell by the bathroom. We came, and they playing Johnny Cash, +1 stars. Lots of beers on tap and a bartender that actually was educated on said beers, +2 stars. Pac Man machine in the corner, +2 stars. Come here and drink.

This is a very welcoming bar. The portraits of the owners’ dads — George and Jack — are a beautiful way of inviting a patron to drink beer while being respectful. In addition, they garnered Graham, who is one of my favorite local bartenders. This is a nice place with a great beer selection.

George & Jack’s is the kind of bar that just gets it all right. It has a casual, lived-in elegance about it. The music is always good. They’ve got a solid assortment of beers on tap, with something for every palate — even mine, and I can be kind of a jerk when it comes to beer. The staff is friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. It’s a neighborhood bar that’s worth leaving one’s neighborhood for. I’m just lucky that I don’t have to.
