Never thought I’d write a review of a DMV office… but here I am doing it. I have never had such a great experience in a DMV office. It was a Friday lunchtime and it was time for my 16 year to get his permit. This small DMV office is inside a mall next to Macy’s on Transit Rd. We checked in and were greeted with a friendly engaging young man who really took an interest in us being there. In a few minutes we were called to go through the paperwork and once again greeted with a smile and great conversation which made the «process» one that stands out from what I remember from previous DMV encounters. I wish all DMV offices were as customer friendly as this one. It really makes a big difference.

This DMV is pretty efficient and the line moves quickly. Finding the place however is impossible if you aren’t already familiar with it’s precise location. As I pulled into the Eastern Hills Mall complex, I saw a sign directing me to turn left towards the DMV, I turned left, saw a Sears and that was it. I saw no building for the DMV. At that point in time I had no idea the DMV was actually inside of the Eastern Hills Mall so I got someones attention who was driving and they too told me they had no idea where it was but that it was somewhere inside of the mall. Great. The last thing I wanted to do was park at the mall and walk around aimlessly. Finally, I grabbed the attention of someone else who told me where to park and that the department was right inside the doors. I was surprised that the DMV looked just like a store in the mall. It was a little odd. However, they have a customer service line to start at, just in case all you need are papers, it saves you a lot of time so you don’t have to wait on the regular line. There were only four or five people ahead of me around 2:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday. I needed papers to sell my vehicle and I was in and out in 10 minutes. The gentlemen at the desk assisting me with my paperwork were knowledgable and kind.

My friend Veronica asked me if she should do Coke. I told her, «Never… You Should Do Meth, Veronica.» Luckily, she realized I was joking. However the government didn’t, as they turned my advice into an acronym, and opened this place: the NYSDMV. Who knew.
This is my favourite DMV in the area because they were extremely friendly, and didn’t make me stand in line all over again when I didn’t have the vital elements with my paperwork for a car registration. I got a free pass to skip the line when I came back. And the line, by the way, is not horribly awful here. Not sure why it’s quieter than the other locations but I appreciated it.
Despite how friendly they are, it’s still an unimaginable rip off to deal with the DMV these days, so I’ll stick to a 3 star rating. But I recommend this DMV to people over all others.

There is a middle aged woman who works here that needs to be fired. She is nasty, and will do her best to make your life hard.
Everyone else is nice except her.
Make sure to use another dmv if you need to get something done quickly and not keep coming back to her power games.

Got there late in the afternoon, gosh, there were seven ahead of me! Kind of hard to know where to go until you see this small arrow pointing. Anyhow, got my form and wait number, now ten numbers down. No idea how that happened. Time to cool my heels and wait and wait. About 40 minutes till my number came up. I was chastised… put my clipboard in the wrong pile. sigh
I remember the County Clerk on TV asking us to please use the County DMVs as then some money stays in the County. Don’t mind doing that but hire some more staff so we don’t have to sit for an hour or more. The US Postal Service sure makes it easier.

Pleasant personnel and quick service — I was quite surprised!

I can’t believe I’m sharing one the best kept DMV secrets in Erie County…
Recently registered my vehicle at this DMV and had a pleasant, quick experience!
I got here around 12:30pm on a Friday afternoon and there were 6, yes 6, people in line in front of me. Service was so quick that I hadn’t even completed the first line of my form before my number was called!
Only took me about 35 minutes to get everything done. I love this place. And who can say they LOVE a DMV?
