History

Established in 1990.

John W. Davis, CPA, founded the firm in 1990 when the economy was in the midst of an economic downturn. Having worked in both a large and medium sized firm in the Burlington metro area, John saw that the accounting industry had been one of historical reporting and tax preparation versus a more proactive and strategic approach. With this in mind, the practice was founded with the objective to focus on budgeting and planning.

In 2005, Bret Hodgdon, CPA, was admitted as a partner to the firm. Bret leads the Audit and Accounting Department and leads all financial statement engagements. In 2006, the firm was renamed to Davis & Hodgdon Associates.

Memberships: Vermont Society of CPAs (VTCPA) and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA), past chair of the Lake Champlain Workforce Improvement Board member, South Burlington Rotary and Vermont Business Roundtable
