Had the pleasure of visiting the awesome honey comb hideout on 12/05/2015…This quaint little spot offers what your looking for when it’s WINETIME… Jennifer recommended a delightful red and I must admit you should always listen to your bartender when they suggest something… I will definitely be back… thank you for a wonderful experience… sorry I don’t have a picture which I normally have but my phone was dead so no pic but you can best believe the next I will!

I am a fine diner. I have been to my fare share of ¾/5 star restaurants. I know good wine, food and service. This was not it. Came for my cousins 21st birthday. I called ahead to make reservations for our party of 7. We arrived at 6:30. We arrived, ordered, waitress was very kind but they seemed short handed. Only 2 girls I saw. The bar side was already pretty full. We sat on the other side. Large room, large table. Very nice. While being seated, over heard waitress say they were already out of water glasses –at 6:45-. So half of us drank out of pint glasses, other half water glasses. We ordered wine and appetizers. Soon after, the waitress informed us that they were out of salad, and ask to add spinach to make the 2 salads we already ordered– at 7:00– on a Saturday night– when salads are half their menu. For real people. We had to wait 45min-one hour and all our other food was gone but our cheese plate never came. We never got water refills till after we ask for the check. Apparently our waitress was new, she really was a sweet heart. However, the other waitress threw her under the bus about the cheese plate. We ask if they were going to comp it. She said no. We ask to talk to a manager, cause, you know, turning 21 happens once and our experience was less than great. We chose something classy, a wine bar for the party, and we were not feeling like we thought we should for dropping $ 32 on bottles of wine. She ended up calling the manager, because they were gone, and took 10% off all our bills. Over all wine was wonderful. The food seemed lack luster for price and strange. Margarita pizza served on almost a flat bread cracker? Small French bread pizza? Regular old lame tortilla chips served with an –out of this world hummus-! I can’t speak to the cheese, meat, bread and fruit we were suppose to get. Everyone else’s looked great, on my way to the bathroom. That hummus was divine though– deserved way better than tortilla chips. Serve bread people! We’re drinking! Seems like they have some good things going like atmosphere, but could be WAY better with a little attention to detail, TLC, and remembering that the customer is always right. There were 5 families represented in our party tonight. Most of which will never return simply for the fact of how we were made to feel. When you screw up, just own it, and compensate. Don’t make excuses. I just want you to make me feel like you value me in your restaurant. Pretty expensive for the service and portions… Jury is still out if I’d ever go back.

Great little wine bar in Willoughby, had one of my favorite pinots –Hobnob — available by the glass. Definitely a great place for a drink before or after dinner — great atmosphere and really helpful staff.

I love tapas and wine bars and I’m so glad that Corks is right in the middle of downtown Willoughby. I am particularly fond of their fruit and cheese platters. They always have a great selection of cheese that taste fresh and not freeze dried or stored in the fridge for weeks like other hole in the wall places might serve you. I visit Willoughby a couple times a year on business trips from LA and Corks makes me feel right at home on those weeknights that I’d otherwise be spending in my hotel room. My last visit I ended up talking to one of the owners and she took a photo of me which ended up on their Facebook page lol. They’ve got some great weeknight incentives too. Buy one bottle, get next one half off. Happy hour prices, etc. I only wish that they expand their menu a bit. I typically just order one of two things, the cheese board or the pita and hummus. They need some more meat dishes on the menu!

Last week, when I was in town, a friend and I went out to here and was pleasantly surprised. Not that I expected it to be bad, per-say, but I’m not too familiar with my hometown area(since I started driving once I moved to Cbus) so I wasn’t sure what to expect. We stopped in to split a bottle of wine and ended up with the Pino Noir by Hob Nob which was quite good I thought(but I like my wines on the drier side). I was kind of out-of-it due to my grandmother passing a few days prior and had to remember the«formalities» of ordering a bottle of wine(i.e. the showing of the bottle, the taste-test, etc.). The environment is extremely cozy and definitely has a level of intimacy that would be perfect for a date scenario. There were more older and(seemingly) very established(financially) clientele in there that were all dressed up but other than that it was fine. To each their own, ya know? As long as they weren’t going to bug me for not being super spruced up then I’m okay with that. It was a great place to sit, have a drink and talk. Staff was very nice as well even though I only interacted with one bartender. I’ll definitely put this in the take-your-future-date-once-you-find-one-here list :)D

Friendly service, great food and a cozy atmosphere… Tables are a bit small though if you order food, more tailored just for drinks!

What kind of idiot orders a martini in a wine bar? That being said, I’ve had wine at Corks many times in the past. The wine is great — the martinis — meh. But that’s to be expected, right? The atmosphere is cute and cozy and various small plates are available to help reduce the effect of the wine. It’s a great place to go and chat with a friend or to take a date. Surprisingly, they have a tv at the bar, so if you’re into watching sports, you can do that, too. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and are looking for a nice laid back vibe.

The charming, historic downtown Willoughby begs for a little wine bar just like Corks. Darker lighting, a large wood bar, seating at highboys, lowboys and tables abound lit by candlelight. There are little corners for dates and larger tables for groups, as well as a second room for private parties. The wine selection is nice and decently priced(glasses around $ 6.50 — $ 8) and they have some lovely appetizers as well(baked brie with fresh fruit is great for sharing). With nearby parking in the public lots this is a great spot for a rendez-vous!

Downtown Willoughby reminds me of a college town without the college. How did they manage to keep their downtown alive? Corks is a cozy little wine bar with some apps and small plate options. I like wine bars, and I have never had any experience here to make me dislike it. 4 stars by default!
