Be warned, this place is a joke! If you a looking for a nice campground, or a campground at all, look else where. My family and I wanted to go on a nice 2 night tent camping trip, not being from Illinois we did some searching for a campground not far outside Chicago that had vacancy on the 4th of July weekend, and found this place. When we arrived, it looked nice from the beginning, but we quickly found out this place was not worth the money spent. Upon walking around we realized that 99% of the trailers that were there, are there year round and many of them appear to be permanent residences. It may be ok if you have a trailer because you have water and electric hook ups, but if you are planning to tent it, good luck. For us tenters, there is no water source, so you have to bring you own, the«bathroom”/“outhouses» in the park are porta-pottys that do not appear to get emptied; and the showers, well there are only 2 of them for everyone in the park and your hot water will last you maybe 3 – 5 minutes but beware of the mold and the fact that the showers do not look like they have been washed in a couple years! Needless to say, we realized that we could not stay a second night because it was unlivable, even for 2 nights. So we followed suit with everyone else we saw there in tents and left after one night. The problem was, we paid for two nights — $ 25 per night. When we asked the office about a refund for us leaving a night early, they told that they«do not refund rent»… RENT?! We did not know we were paying RENT, we thought we were paying for a camp site. And if the fact that we noticed a lot of other tenters leaving after a 1 night stay was not enough. no wildlife even wants to stay at this park. We saw 2 bird, a frog and geese… no signs of any other wildlife. This is seriously not a legitimate campground and needs to be inspected by the state!
