Old Swedes Episcopal Church

I’ve been ranting a lot about how much Delaware sucks lately but this is one of the better things to do in Wilmington. You have to get past the corporate center and enter the more rundown area of the city but the trip is great for those interested in a short history lesson.
You’ll arrive to a small house, church, and cemetery that doesn’t seem like it quite belongs in the neighborhood. Ring the doorbell at the house and a tour guide will answer. Ours took us on a tour of the donated Hendrickson house, a walk through the cemetery, and a tour around the oldest church still used today (300+ years old!). It’s an intimate little tour with a local guide who tries to show you how people lived back in the day; they don’t seem to get too many tourists in the area and seem to just love their job.
Adult tickets are $ 4 and the front room of the house is used as a gift shop.
