The park has been home to the baseball and softball programs since the late 50’s started with the help of the local Lions club and the generous donation of the land by the Krueger family. The park has 3 baseball diamonds and 1 softball diamond. In recent years the present Mayor has attempted to push the baseball program out and eliminating a place for the children of the community to play one of america’s favorite past time. The league has always maintained the diamonds from mowing to fertilizing grooming with the help of the sheriffs work program but recently the mayor has put in place requirements that anyone using any motorized equipment at the diamonds file for an additional insurance rider although the Little League has insurance that covers any volunteer. making this difficult for no reason. The mayor also authorized the removal of fence without communicating with the baseball volunteers or having a meeting with his board to approve the use of taxpayer monies to be used for this purpose. In fact at a village meeting was questioned on who authorized taking down a fence without following the appropriate protocol and he admitted it was him. He also admitted in the same meeting that he took the fences and gave them to one of his long time political supporters again circumventing the proper protocol for removal of properties with any value. The Dog Park is a nice addition to the park however the mayor once again has put another burden on the baseball program as the utilities both water and electric are paid by the baseball program and the water supplied to the dog park is paid for by baseball. all of this was done without any communication with baseball. The nature trail is completely overgrown and very rarely is there anyone there using it because of the condition. They did build a covered pavilion with a bench and sidewalks in front of the public works garage that looks directly into a residence and not the lake another waste of tax payers money. The league has recently seen a HUGE resurgence in support and raised monies to put a fence back up and soon there will be another mayor that hopefully has the true interest of the community at heart instead of his and his wife’s personal agenda… its just a shame that the youth of the community are taking the brunt here.

This park consists of a softball field, a couple of baseball fields, an outdated jungle gym and seesaw, a a nature trail, and a new enclosed dog park. The good: The dog park is pretty cool. There are separate sections for small dogs and large dogs so the small dogs don’t get trampled. The small dog section has a little obstacle course of sorts that reminds me of dog shows. Both sections have a few sitting areas and a basket filled with an assortment of toys. There’s a new baseball diamond with covered dug out. The bad: The softball field and old baseball field do not have covered dugouts. The jungle gym is very small. The ugly: I’m not sure how well kept the nature trail is, but the entrance appeared a little over grown. There’s some poison ivy in the large dog enclosure so be careful.
