Animal Care Clinic

I had one charge issue with this comic last year, but they ended up dissolving the charge. I find this vet to be awesome — He is generally punctual, if not a few minutes early. He really takes his time with my dog & genuinely seems to care about the animals. Further, the guy calls to follow up for any non-​vaccination appointment. Personally, I find this to be very above & beyond & am always grateful that the guy takes the time to do this. I’d highly recommend this clinic (my reviews tend to only be written when something sucks, but I had to do this 5 star review after another check in call from this guy… and on a Saturday).

Excellent service and knowledge even in the face of significant the uncertainty. First time I’d seen nursing staff at a vet, and it made the whole experience go smoothly. Sure they were displaying high end nutrition product, but I didn’t see any video nor any egregious promotions.

I purchased a dog at Critter Cabana, which offered a free puppy examination for the dog. Their health guarantee was that if underlying issues were identified on the puppy that would cause a severe financial impact later down the road, that the dog could be returned for a full refund, or they’d give half the cost of the dog in a refund if we chose to keep the dog. But it only extended to that first exam.
First off, I was in to «see» Dr. Rachel. I spoke with her for about a total of 5 minutes, which was the entire amount of time she spent with the dog examining him, trying to sell me on Sentinel and their puppy package, and talking about getting the dog fixed when he hits 6 months (preferably later).
I mentioned I was particularly concerned about possible knee problems and hip problems and asked her to check, and I also mentioned that the puppy was severely itchy everywhere.
After about 3 seconds of focus on each knee, she moved on without saying a word, and mentioned that the itchiness was probably due to fleas, but did not check the coat, the skin, or any itchy parts; she just assumed.
I was not given an opportunity to ask any questions. My concerns were not taken seriously. As this was my one and only chance at identifying possible unknown health issues and receiving reimbursement from the store in which I bought the dog, I guess I should have been more adamant that that they do their job on this «complimentary vet exam.»
Sure, the staff was very friendly, but in a friendly we-aren’t-making-money-off-of-you-and-we’ll-flaunt-it kind of way.
1 month later I took my pup to a new vet (Village at Main Veterinary Hospital — Dr. Rachel Cobb) where it was discovered that he’d been living with a skin bacteria that had been making him miserable and could have easily been identified if the other vet had simply looked at his skin. He also has 2 luxating patellas. So now, down the road, my dog is going to cost thousands, and I could have identified this sooner and held the seller responsible had Animal Care Clinic done their job.

My first impression of Dr. B. Husband was not good, and I see I’m not alone. I found him to be judgmental and condescending. Perhaps it was because it wasn’t a face to face visit but done over the phone. In any case, I had further questions but didn’t want to have any more communication with him. They have four vets working there and I can’t comment on the other three. It seems other reviewers like this clinic but I wouldn’t go back there. This has never happened to me with any other vet and I’ve had dogs and cats for 30 years. I was also given a hard sell on their insurance program. A monthly fee? Why would I do that?
Luckily, there are other vets in the area to choose from.

Animal Care Clinic is my number ONE choice for all the veterinary needs of my cats and dog. I’ve tried other clinics but ACC is by far the best. Not only is the service good and prices competitive but I never feel rushed and have gotten excellent care and advice every time. From routine visits to emergency visits (surgery, etc.) and pet teeth cleaning I can’t say enough. I recently learned that their dog boarding, cat boarding and pet day care facilities are highly rated too. Here’s a cute, short video of kitties in their kitty condos:

I recently purchased a kitten from a local pet store. The store said they’d pay for the first visit to a vet and this was the vet they recommended so I decided to use them.
The waiting room was clean and looked nice and presentable. The front desk ladies were also nice and kept assuring me they’d be right with me.
I was a new patient but only waited a few minutes in the waiting room before I was put in one of the exam rooms. A nurse came in quickly and started getting my information. There were some pamphlets given to me regarding pet insurance etc but no one was super pushy about any of that or the vaccines or food etc. The nurse was sweet and asked me questions about my new kitty and seemed very gentle and kind. I will say that the exam room floor had different animal fur all along the edges. I totally understand since they probably don’t have time to sweep it in between each animal but while my kitten was roaming the floor she collected quite a bit of fur from other animals on her which was a little gross. The one other thing that kind of bothered me is that there were numerous interruptions while we were waiting for the vet (this isn’t the part that bothered me) but not one of them knocked before coming in. They just bust through the door. They indicated it was okay for me to have my kitten on the ground and she was curious and kept wanting to go by the doors… if they had opened it while she was there she would have been knocked in the head or possible escaped out into the office. It just seemed like a little knock and a pause would have been good so I could collect her. So instead I kept picking her up and putting her in her carrying cage so that she wouldn’t get hurt while people kept coming in and out.
Really, that’s a minor and my only complaint. The vet was super nice and was informing me of information about my kitten while she was doing the exam. They didn’t seem put out when I asked a few questions and were very nice. Aside from the waiting in the room for a few minutes, the whole thing went pretty smooth. I have an appt. in a few weeks for more shots and I definitely plan on making this my kitten and future pet’s vet clinic.

We have been taking our cat, Edgar, here for his whole three years with us, and we are always impressed. Edgar means the world to us and when we take him to the this clinic, they treat him the same way. Whether it is a routine check-​up (they send great email and mail reminders) or an emergency (they saw us just 20 minutes after I called one Saturday morning), we always feel like our whole family is treated great at the Animal Care Clinic.

I think the prices are fair for their service.
Always very clean.
They offer boarding for when we’re traveling.

They may be decent vets but the whole office is one big commercial for a particular brand of dog food. Seriously– a TV in the exam room showing a dog food commercial on a loop– the TV marked with the dog food brand logo. They even give you a paper ad for the dog food when you leave! I wasn’t surprised to find out in their newsletter that two staff members flew out to the dog food company headquarters recently –free trip from the company?
I was so turned off by the blatant marketing. How can I trust the recommendations of this office when they are not being objective? I wouldn’t be surprised if they also pushed the specific vaccinations, pet insurance, and medications due to backing by those companies. Shady. I looked up reviews of the dog food in question just to see if it was really magnificent stuff and it got crappy reviews. When I told the vet tech that I wanted a dog food that wasn’t full of fillers like corn, etc. she told me that the corn they use at this dog food company is ground up really fine so that it’s not a filler, but instead is a protein. What?
The visit was rushed– I told them that it was our first time owning a dog, but they didn’t talk with me about basics or ask if I had any questions. The vet was nice, the vet tech was condescending, and the front office woman was very efficient and friendly. Still, I won’t be going back.

I first took my miniature dachshund to Dr. Brent Husband (Dr. B., as we fondly called him) when I first lived in Wilsonville several years ago. The doctor was and is always very kind and knowledgable; he explains things in a manner that is not condescending or shrill. Sadly, I no longer have that little guy or his brother, but I do have one remaining brother of the pack and still drive from NW Portland to Wilsonville just for my current dog’s care.
The staff is always pleasant and will always try to help you out. One morning, I was waiting to drop-​off my dog for boarding when I moved back to Oregon in summer 2008. The girls had gotten coffee, and when I came in, they told me they saw me waiting in my car and if I just knocked on the door — they would’ve gladly taken him in prior to opening the office.
The office is always spotless and it just seems they genuinely care about animals and the people who love them.
