Prestige Moving and Storage

I just had my fifth move with Prestige Moving and it was as seamless as the first one! Humberto and the crew assigned were awesome, very meticulous in wrapping and securing all of the items… and they handled the storage of excess possessions in their vaults quite nicely, too. I don’t often take the time to post consumer experiences but feel that anyone looking for a professional, honest and value-​added experience would be well-​served by Prestige Moving.

This is the second time I have used Prestige Moving and they were wonderful. They were timely, professional, and easy to work with. They quoted me a price and that was consistent with the final bill I paid. They were timely and my items were delivered even more quickly than expected! The driver was very nice and called me with updates. I would definitely use them and Allied again!

Multiple delays on my shipment. The president (Mike) was very responsive, however every time I turned around, there was a new problem. Made excuses about weather, but then decided that FL was north of GA and diverted their truck there. Very pleasant team to talk to and responsive, but effectiveness is zero.

Worst movers! Stay away from them. Worked with them for over 2 months and 4 days prior to the move, they jacked up the price (by $ 3000) and told me that they can’t pack everything for the price quoted/​agreed upon earlier. I just couldn’t believe when I heard that.
Stay away from them!

Prestige moved my mother and I and it was a wonderful experience. Nothing but great customer service and efficiency. The estimation for the move was spot on too!

Prestige and Allied moving is a great service to use. The are friendly, accommodating and professional. They did everything they could to get me a fast and affordable move. I would highly recommend using this moving company. I have used them for two of my moves and they always show up on time, they are careful with my furniture. I worked with Kory to schedule my move, him and they other guys are great!

I understand moving things across country can be a nightmare and many things can go wrong. I do. I assumed some things would be damaged due to the long trek on a truck (moved from Oregon to North Carolina) but I never suspected our shipment would be delayed for about a month and that I’d be missing four boxes on top of damages.
Upon arrival of my shipment, the driver seemed very rushed since he wanted to get the entire trip over and done with which I didn’t blame him since it was hot and we were the last stop of his delivery. The movers who unloaded the truck were very nice and helpful but I wasn’t impressed with the driver nor the guys he raved about whom packed my stuff. When I discovered the first damaged item at the time (end table/​cabinet), one of the guys made sure to inform me to show it to the driver so he could make a note of it. For some reason my computer and peripherals were handled very poorly. My case was just folded up in a packing blanket which, of course, during transit made some of the front panels loose and either bent or popped out. My monitors were in boxes without cushioning so they ended up scratched. My peripherals were unplugged from the system but the cords were then just rolled up around the pieces so that I had multiple ports bent from the strain. My keyboard cord was completely ripped out.
When I showed the driver the end table damage (the computer parts were found later), he poked at it and then told me I could just glue it back together because _​if I reported it, he would have to pay for it_​. Really? He then rushed me through all the paperwork and afterwards I noticed he didn’t really do much in the way of keeping track of the boxes since nothing was marked on the invoices (each item has a number sticker on it which he should have been checking off).
They are supposed to put together any pieces of furniture they take apart for the move. Which they did. Kind of. The couch and dining table were okay but the office desks were mangled beyond repair. We have two L desks and they managed to bend and warp the keyboard trays and force metal supports to screw into the wrong holes, stripping the screws in the process. More things to have to mark as damaged for the insurance claim.
During the long process of unpacking (because I am pregnant and all sorts of stuff that takes core muscles is twice as difficult), it was discovered that more things were damaged and four boxes were missing completely. When the claim offer was received, they decided on an amount that barely went over the deductible (of course) and that they are not responsible for the four missing boxes at all. Which is highly entertaining since we pointed out to the claims guy that one of the items missing (a wifi smart scale) is still being synced by someone who is using it. I assume in the driver’s rush to finish that day, he likely unloaded it to the people right before us, especially since he did not keep track of box numbers or even pay attention to the family name labeled on them.
So, after they told us first, «Oh, well, we’re not responsible for things that we didn’t pack,» and we told them that was false since we weren’t even there (we had a relative supervise since we already had to be at our new destination) and the service packed everything for us, they decided that since the driver said everything was delivered, that it wasn’t their problem.
So! Now we get to file a police report and make it known that Prestige/​Allied were the last people in contact with the stolen items.

TL;DR — We put our trust in them to handle and ship our possessions and the screwed us over. Driver weeks late for delivery and tried to push me to not claim damages because «he would have to pay for it». Poorly-​packed items and four missing boxes which they refuse to take responsibility for.

I would like to extend a special thanks to the folks at Prestige moving for doing a great job for our move. They handled the receiving leg from a move from Southern California (through Allied).
The staff at Prestige did everything I could of asked for (and did) while I was busy working from my home office while they handled the freight, assembled furniture, and did a good job organizing.
My satisfaction with Allied was _​very_​low — my satisfaction with Prestige was very high. If I’m moving again, I’ll certainly give Prestige a call.

F-​A-​N-​T-​A-​S-​T-​I-​C!!! Barry Larsen (Prestige) and Justin Craven (Master Mover, Allied) made our transition from SoCal to the state of Washington smooth and almost painless!!! Knowing Justin from a previous move, we booked Allied, through Prestige and Barry a couple months ahead of our move date. This was in high hopes of scheduling Justin for our move. Lo and behold, Barry was able to book Justin a couple weeks ahead and we’re off to the races. Justin came a day early and took inventory, making the day of the move a lot more efficient. He delivered on the scheduled day, had his guys set up (per usual, no surprises) and they were here and gone in 6 hours. Everything accounted for, no breakage, no drama. I believe Justin works mainly the west coast route (Northwest to Texas?), but if you need a move and have high expectations, ask Barry in advance, see if he can book Justin. You’ll be glad you did, Thanks for everything guys!

It’s been a long few months dealing with these guys but the nightmare is over. I’ll go through the issues.
1– I understand that getting a delivery estimate is just that: an estimate. But I specifically asked that my stuff be delivered before a specific date. I said they could deliver a week early if need be but it cannot be late. And on the last possible day I could get my stuff, I get the call. It’s not coming today. Amazing. Even better, my agent blamed the truck breaking down. But when my driver arrived, he said that was false, that he’d been given a different delivery window than the one my agent promised.
2– a bunch of broken things. All coming in just under the deductible of course.
3– My driver accidentally gave me items for another client. I had to haul them to UPS and mail them myself.
4– And he forgot six boxes, plus an air conditioner. He sent them about 10 days later, and with the wear of the move and then being sent via UPS, each box came fairly destroyed. Haven’t gotten the air conditioner to work yet. (It wasn’t meant to be sent in the mail.)
I know moving sucks. But these guys made it so much worse.

THIS REVIEW IS REGARDING THE PERFORMANCE OF JUSTIN, DANIEL AND HIS DAD.
I moved from ABQ to PDX, using Allied as the carrier, the delivery date was set between the 10^th and 20^th of February, to my relief, Justin called on the 10^th to let me know he could deliver on the 11^th by 10 AM, they showed up, unloaded all my things, assembled all my furniture and to my most amazement, nothing was damaged or broken, they laid walk rugs on the carpet not to soil it and they were extremely friendly but professional. I want to personally thank you for a job well done!

Prestige moving was all around great in helping get me moved across the country. Everything made it and was treated properly by moving team. Would use them again if I ever need to travel a long distance.

About a week ago we had a guy named Monty come out to give us an estimate. Prestige is affiliated with Allied, who we used to move us from Chicago to Portland in November 2009. Minus our car, our move with Allied out to Portland cost us $ 4300. Since then we have downsized quite a bit, essentially getting rid of a guest bedroom, massive living room couch, and large dining room table set. And those are just the large furniture items we no longer have, we also got rid of boxes of other stuff in preparation for this move. Now I’m not saying we don’t still have a lot of stuff, but I’d say we have 40% less stuff than we had when we moved out. Prestige’s quote for us to move to San Diego came in $ 300 more than the first move. A lot less stuff, a lot less distance to travel. So what gives? Have fuel prices shot up that dramatically? We emailed the estimator a copy of our first invoice and asked him to explain the dramatic increase. That was a week ago and we’ve heard nothing back. I can only surmise that he was attempting to rip us off and we called him on it. Obviously we won’t be using these guys.

No one showed up for the in-​home estimate scheduled for today. My husband and I took time out of our day to be here for it, and no one came. I called the toll-​free #, and they gave me the local Oregon #. The woman who answered said I did not have an appointment in her computer for today. We had been called and given that appt by the moving company. I told her that if the company is this disorganized before the move, I don’t know if I can trust them with our move. In response, she hung up on me!!! I then called the toll-​free number again, and the man I spoke with confirmed that we did in fact have the appt in the computer, and he told me to hold while he contacted the local people. Instead, he disconnected me. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE just to get an estimate. There’s no way I’d ever dream of entrusting them with my move.
