History
Established in 1921.
Orem’s Diner was originally Orem’s Dairy Farm. There was a storefront where the dairy products were sold from, and a baseball field behind it that hosted the local Wilton Farmers semi-pro baseball team in the early 1900’s. The storefront also served as the concession stand for the baseball field and sold, along with the dairy products and ice cream, candy, soda pop and food. In 1921 Charles Orem the owner of the dairy farm and baseball field decided to turn the storefront into a full service diner and Orem’s DIner was born.
The original diner used to sit at the northeast corner of Orem’s Lane and Danbury Road, but eminent domain and the widening of Danbury Road forced the current owners, the Papanikolaou family to rebuild the diner a quarter mile south. They worked very hard to keep the diner as close to its original location as possible and true to its local roots.
