Established in 2006.

New owners, Darci Castillejos and Don and Meggie Phinney, took over Sept 2015. Same neighborhood ambiance with an updated décor and new menu.

Business Owner

Darci Castillejos is one of three partners for the Skybox Grill and Tavern. They took over on September 1, 2015 and plan on continuing the great food and service at this established local tavern. They do plan on some upgrades to refresh the look and feel, but want to keep the local watering hole vibe of the bar. Please say hi to Darci, Don or Meggie the next time you stop in.

A few days out of the month, my wife and I fly into French Valley to visit our grandchildren. On a whim we stopped into the Sky Box and had a great time sitting at the bar for, small bite and drink. In all honesty the food was not much to mention, however the bar tender, Cory, made the stop worth it. We returned on several occasions and had the same as above experience; however, to our recent dismay Cory is no longer bar tending.

Oh Skybox. My coworkers and I used to have lunch there fairly regularly and I really liked going. However, I think they changed owners and the food is not as good. They took this really good wrap off of the menu, and the fries!!! They used to have super good steak fries, and now they have these shoestring fries that are dry and blah. We probably will not be back.
However, the California burger (I think it was called) with bacon and avocado was just as delicious as it was before so it’s not all bad.

Food was cool but service was poor. I felt like if you aren’t a regular you don’t get the same hospitality. I live and work in the area looking for a place to chill and catch a game. Not sure this place would meet my need. Please check for yourself I could be wrong.

Went there to have a few beers and for taco tuesday. Their tap is very limited to crap and their chichen tacos consisted of store bought diced up sodium crap. Better off eating at del taco and getting your favorite beer from the chevron station across the store to go. On a high note, the bartender was very nice. It’s not her fault she works in a crap hole.

Tried the ground beef and chicken tacos for taco Tuesday. Delicious! Tomatoes were from their garden outside and beef quality exceptional. Vibe is laid back and cool. Bunch of straight shooters in there. Definitely going back!

Had a great time here! There are only a few dog friendly bar & grills in town so we wanted to check out something new. Ricky, the server, was very sweet and helpful. He was really on the mark. The beef rib Mac n cheese was decadent! The Cajun style chicken was yummy as well. The chips are the bomb! Oh yeah… The three margaritas packed a punch. We had all this and iced tea the bill was only $ 57.
— went back for a second time on a Monday evening. Still very impressed with the servers… Nice martinis too! Woo Hoo! And, ya know… The clientele was rather friendly, too. Hamburgers and salads were delish. Try the Oklahoma mushroom burger. Lots of flavor… The Tater tots were super crispy. My chopped sky box salad was fresh and yummy. We will be back!

I’ve been meaning to update this for awhile now. First, after I posted my previous review, the owner contacted me and addressed my issues in a very professional manner. It’s always nice to see an owner reach out and try to fix problems with his or her business. Second, the service has gotten much, much better. The ladies behind the bar are more attentive and friendly with non-​bar customers (in my experience). I even had one bartender apologize personally to me when I was in the restaurant. It was very sweet.

Dont be fooled by one star, they dont deserve even one but Unilocal makes you at least give one. This place doesn’t ever get any better. This place sucks! Poor management and no quality control. They only have one decent cook and if she isn’t there you are guaranteed bad food. They have two great bartenders nicole and trista,
but if they aren’t there you don’t dare order a cocktail because Jenna doesn’t follow recipes she puts whatever she feels like in the drink even if it doesn’t belong. Its pretty frustrating as it’s the only bar in our neighborhood. I’m tired of wasting my money on bad food and bad drinks. I’ve complained numerous times but it never gets any better. I won’t be a regular here anymore and from the lack of patrons that actually eat there this place won’t be open for long

As creepy as it gets. 3 owners and one or another is always there. Begs to wonder if this place ever makes 12 cents are they going to spit it 3 ways? Its like going to prom with your mother in the front seat and your date in the back seat, creepy!
The menu is old and stale. Nachos, BURNED chips with no cheese but 2 lbs of jalapenos.
Music tonicht, c– at best and the crowd showed it.
They can eat their own burnt nachos as far as I am concerned.

I am sorry to say that this place sucks now. Juan is no longer there grilling up the most awesome burgers (past tense). They are flavorless now and the bun sucks. New ownership is weak. The changes are not good. This place might not survive. We need a great place to eat up here in winchester. Now we have nothing:(notice all the reviews that were once 5 stars are now updated to 2 and under. Very unfortunate

Sad to say since under new management, I am not much of a fan of this place.
New owner «Don» makes the vibe feel uptight! Me and my hubby actually eat and drink here while most customers only drink, we spent on average $ 300 bucks at this restaurant every we week. You would think that since we are such good customers we would be treated with more respect. Also not liking the sportsbar feel or the much weaker mixed drinks.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE THAT CHANGE IS NOT ALWAYS FOR THE BETTER!

Full restaurant that offers a decent variety of items. They have homemade burgers that rival many four to five star restaurants. They offer a full bar but have limited seating. So if there’s a line, rest assured it will be well worth the wait.

So sad. Changed ownership and staff aren’t there. The margarita tasted like it was made with grapefruit juice. I asked for a replacement and the waitress said she didn’t know if they would take it back. I asked for chardonnay — can’t goof that up.

Small place, but a neat vibe. They were playing music on a Friday night with what I would think was a DJ (he had a laptop and a mixer on a table). We had the nachos (w/​chicken), onion rings and the skybox burger. All were excellent, and in great proportion. Our server was very friendly and courteous. I was hoping they would have a few more beers on tap (They have about 6), but that’s not a huge deal breaker. We look forward to returning again!

Small, cozy looking bar. Walked in, sat down it took about 15 min for one of the bartenders behind the counter to come out and ask us if we had been attended too. He brought out water and took our drink order. An additional 20 min passed and no drinks. Most definitely, a very local spot everyone knows each other. Seems nice just not the place if you are new in town. Poor customer service.

What a dive. Not even going to waste my time writing a long review for this craphole. Food sucks. Place is small and cramped, gets really stuffy. The regulars look like they are homeless. Feel like I’m going to catch a sexually transmitted disease just by sitting in this dirty little hole in the wall.
