Really not impressed by this place. Staff was friendly – but they were severely understaffed. Food was meh… Fish and chips were simply swimming in left over grease… not fresh and crispy as I expected. Steak was over cooked… and was of poor quality. Won’t be back.

Great food. The shrimp & grits and fish and chips are amazing! Awesome variety of beers on tap. Service staff are very accommodating. We love going for a late lunch or dinner and watch our football teams on one of the many TVs available in the bar area.

Nasty food, was so very disappointed. It’s fine if you’re only looking to drink, but the food was TERRIBLE! We had a group so we ordered different apps & entrées and the food was just barely mediocre. Drinks were fine but it’s impossible to screw up shots or beer! Sadly will not ever return, nor would I recommend this as a place to eat.

After being snowed in for a few days, we broke free and walked around Old Town. I had a hankering for onion rings, and despite not loving this place on our first visit, I was convinced that surely they’d have the best onion rings downtown, because British(style) pub! Sure enough, I was right; their onion rings are definitely the best I’ve had in town and I’m not just saying that because this blizzard has induced feelings akin to those in The Shining. What we had this time and how we felt about it: Yorkshire Pudding — not what most Americans would think of as pudding, this is a meat, bread, and gravy concoction that’s fairly traditionally done, but the meat’s a bit tough. The gravy is out of this world, though! We probably won’t order it again. The lemon pepper salmon(we hear there’s a new bourbon salmon, but we didn’t try it) with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. Good, not great, a solid meal that tastes exactly as you’d expect. The Bleus Burger. YUM. Don’t love the bun(very bland, nothing to add to the texture, etc) but the meat was good quality, it was cooked appropriately, the cheese was good — would have liked more mushrooms, though. Chips(Fries) — good standard pub fries. Onion rings: out of this world. There’s also a heckuva beer selection, so if you’re in the mood to try a new beer, ask the bartender for a recommendation and/or a sample. Our favorite thing here is still the onion rings.

First visit, tried the chipotle burger plus added jalapeños made from locally sourced grass-fed beef(appreciated). That said, I was a bit underwhelmed by the lack of flavor, all it really needed was some salt/pepper(which was nowhere to be found) and the bun bordered on hard. Seating at the East end of the bar it seems hard to get the attention of the staff who congregated at the other end which meant I finished ½ my food before anyone sauntered down to check if I needed anything(more water and ketchup for the small portioned, but awesome fries). Will give another go sometime. I’m also coming off a pub(albeit Irish) high visiting Raglan’s in Orlando’s Disney Springs last night– that was near magical, this was, well just OK.

Great bartender… gave me great recommendations on beers and was very attentive to my several requests for more tarter sauce and/or ketchup. Fish & Chips here is the bomb! Definitely come back again!

Bacon jalapeño dip was good, but there wasn’t enough of it. I had a soup of the day that was yummy. Wife had the ABC soup which was really good. We both had burgers, also good. The fries were really good. Waitress was friendly and attentive.

This place has a lot of character theyhave a non smoking side and the wait staff was very attentive 3 of us got the fish and chips and it was delicious they served it with malt vinegar and a side of slaw or «mushy peas» Feeling venturous i got the peas. My friend got the leg of lamb over grits and peas he really enjoyed it i will be back soon and i think I’m gonna get the 3year aged cheddar burger!!!

Burger was scrumptious. I got the aged cheddar burger with a side of bacon. It was so juicy and tasty. The chips were not that fresh but complimented the burger well. It was cider Thursday as well. I ate the bread pudding for dessert, it was a bit dry. But still a tasty dessert. I would have liked a bourbon sauce. I would return. Service was okay.

I’m really disappointed that we did not get to eat here. After having a bad experience at another nearby restaurant we came here. The menu looked fantastic. I mean where else would you find Bangers and Mash? So we walk inside and we were greeted by a tall lady with a nasty attitude. She told us the entire restaurant was full and that they had reservations all night. She informed us that we could go to the bar… I’m sorry, I’m not taking my two children to the bar… Just saying! So she tells us to go wait outside, or inside she doesn’t care. And when I asked how long the wait would be, she said at least 2 hours or more. I’m not used to all this rude service. I guess Winchester is a different class of people.

Food: I had the New York strip and it was well prepared and delicious. My side was Parmesan peas which I’d never had before and they were quite good. They have a mix of American and British pub food. The British dishes have a flag next to them on their menu to indicate their origin. Price: Very reasonable $ 10 – 20 person depending on what you order. Atmosphere: this made the restaurant for me. It is right in the middle of the Winchester historic district. The inside was warm and friendly with noise levels at just the right amount. The music was just below the level of conversation – perfect. Service: We visited three stores in Winchester, all small, local business and I have to say they were not the most welcoming. The people in the stores seemed blatantly uninterested if you bought from them or not. However, our server at Union Jacks was very pleasant and nice, so the above rant does not apply here.

I went to this place once back in March while on a visit in town. They served me my first Firestone Union Jack IPA(outstanding and lived up to the«world class» rating on BA). I also spied what looked like the elusive Hopslam hiding behind something in the cooler. Sure enough, it was and was able to get one after refusing weeks prior to sit in an hour of Atlanta traffic for the hope and privilege of paying $ 25 for a six pack. This ain’t bad for pre-1pm on a Sunday. Alas, the wife cut me off. The point: Outstanding beer bar. The food: I love tikka masala, but I can’t order it in an Indian restaurant because it’s not really legit Indian food(not that I look that legit, anyway, being a white dude with a southern accent). So I was delighted to find the London invented dish here. It was phenomenal and the pefect accompaniment to my beloved IPAs. I look forward to going back when I get the chance very soon.

We were walking through downtown Winchester and came across this place. We decided to sit at the bar because we weren’t sure if we were going to eat or just have a drink. The bartender greeted us right away and gave us a menu. He was friendly and seemed to really know what he was doing. They had a ton of beers on tap, so plenty of options. For food, we ended up just ordering some British queso with sausage and tortilla chips. It was just ok. I wouldn’t order it again, but it wasn’t bad. We were going to order an entrée and split it, but they charge a $ 5 surcharge for sharing a meal which is ridiculous to me and most of the reason this is getting 3 instead of 4 stars. If we are eating off the same plate, why do we have to pay extra… doesn’t make sense to me!

I’m bumping up my review to 4 stars now. This place warrants it. I’ve eaten at Union Jack 4 times now, and each time the food has never disappointed. Their drink specials are fabulous, the food service is prompt, and its all extremely good. Their fish and chips? The best outside of Harpers Ferry(sorry, Private Quinn and Potomac Grille have some good ones of their own), but the presentation of the dish is excellent. Very authentic. I do recommend getting there a bit early as it starts to fill up at 7 pm, but its totally worth it. You will not be let down for what they have. Highly recommend for any time of year!

With great traditional pub fare, this locale served as a fine stop on our return trip from Virginia. When I go to a pub that claims authentic English food, it comes down to the fish and chips or shepherd’s pie. Thankfully, I was able to try both, crediting my husband for ordering the other. The fish was battered with a crispy, flaky, not too greasy batter, and the fish itself was very good. I had already eaten a lot of fried food for the weekend, so after sampling the breading, I uncovered the fish and dove in. The chips were done just right. Very flavorful. The shepherd’s pie was fine, but nowhere near the best I’d ever had. It was typical-meat, veggies, gravy, taters– nothing too spectacular. Not worth the $ 16 for the dinner portion, though. They have an excellent draught selection, great for pairing with tens of menu items. Had I wanted lighter and healthier fare, I could have had it, but hey, vacation.
