I was sooooooo excited to see that an Italian restaurant was opening. With that being said I went to Franco’s with an open mind. The pasta was cooked well but the sauce was sweet and lackluster. I kept expecting some fresh and wholesome food when all I received was 1950’s style Italian. I left sad.

Fresh and delicious. Maine seafood done right with an Italian touch. Great selection of draft beer. Friendly service.

Food was awesome. Ordered Baked Haddock as well as the scallops. Both dishes were great. Our waitress was very helpful and service was on point. Would not hesitate to go again and would highly suggest going to others. Everything is hand made and done in house according to our waitress. Enjoyed the cannoli for desert.

There are much better options nearby for Italian. I’m Italian and I cook a LOT. So an Italian place must offer food as good or better than what I can make at home and good quality for the price. I thought that the prices here were way too high for what was offered and also considering the competition nearby, which has one Italian family place with lower prices and much better food. Entrees go from $ 16 — $ 23, with most on the higher side of that range. We had chicken parm, cannelloni, chicken saltimbocca. The pasta was not al dente, it was mushy — a cardinal sin for an Italian place. Portions were just OK, considering the price. Small salads were offered, but nobody told me that it was an upsell. — 2 bucks apiece for a small garden salad??? Come on, salad costs net to nothing and considering the prices, they should’ve come with the meal. Total per person including tip was $ 30, which didn’t strike me as a good value for that kind of money. I would pass.

We had a great dinner here. went on a Thursday night after 630 p and was seated immediately. Not too many other people. Ordered the lobster mascarpone ravioli, which consisted of 3 large lobster stuffed homemade ravioli with mascarpone cheese in a brandy white wine cheese sauce, topped with mushroom pesto and truffle oil. Large plate full, great taste and very filling. Others ordered a grilled 10oz sirloin topped with red wine marinara, green and red peppers and mozzarella served over pasta, a grilled 10oz sirlion with onion rings, choice of potato and veggies and also the baked haddock served with choice of potato or rice and veggies. All meals were large and very nicely seasoned. For dessert, couldn’t refuse even though I had no room, we shared a crème brûlée. It was delicious! The server was very attentive and food came in a reasonable amount of time. we were also served fresh bread with olive oil dipping sauce.

What a pleasant surprise we had when going to Franco’s Bistro in Windham ME!!! We had been to the several other restaurants in the area and were not overwhelmed with any of theme. Knowing that we had heard that Merced’s on Brandy Pond in Naples was very good and, the owner of Franco’s Bistro is the same owner, Frank Merced we decided to give it a try. It was fairly late, about 9:10 p.m. The hostess said that even though they closed at 9, they would accommodate us no problem. Which was a very good start as many establishments would have simply said«we’re closed» and walked away. They seemed to care about servicing their customers and care about what they do… The hostess was very accommodating and pleasant. We sat down and our waitress came over to get our drink order. We mulled over the menu as we were waiting for our drinks. We were not thinking of appetizers, just our dinners, as we realized it was late, and was appreciative they accommodated us so late. First off… My Martini was very good, and reasonably priced at $ 6.00. Our waitress brought over some freshly baked Foccachia that was over a bed of garlic oil and finely grated cheese. Very unusual, great presentation… super delicious. How did they know I love Focchia??? I was torn between haddock and steak. I had heard the haddock was super delicious at Merced’s, from our summer time neighbor in the area, but since I had it the night before, decided to try out the steak. My husband got… Veal Parmesan(as usual). I was a little concerned as he gets Veal Parmesan everywhere, and complains if it is at all tough. I am happy to say he was«over the moon» over his Veal Parmesan. The presentation was beautiful, the veal was super tender, and the ziti was perfectly cooked(al dente). The Marinara was a 20 minute Marinara… nice and fresh, just the way he likes it. He was very, very happy. My sirloin was perfectly cooked, super juicy, super tender, and delicious. It came with a baked potato that was baked the way it should be… crispy skin rolled in salt, with a tender interior. Ready for all the butter and sour cream it could take. It also came with freshly sautéed zucchini and red pepper and onion rings… delicious!!! Our waitress was very attentive and very accommodating. We didn’t want to take the time for dessert, but there’s always next time!!! This is a great place for seasonal visitors and regular residents alike… the best food in the area… no question.
