Windsor Public Library

This library offers something for everyone. Obviously, there is a huge selection of books from best-​sellers to classics, movies of all sorts, and music. There is a well-​designed area for kids that offers all sorts of reading and creative activities along with books for emerging readers through middle schoolers. There is also quiet study space in closed rooms if you need silence and solitude. I’ve even used the meeting rooms and their presentation hardware a few times. That’s the good stuff.
What sets this library apart is the staff. They’re the most helpful, friendly people. I have been a patron for 8 years or so, and I’ve always gotten a positive helpful vibe here.

Love, love, love this library. I’ve checked out books, DVDs and have used the free Wi-​Fi. Can’t wait to check-​out the audiobooks. I bring my own laptop and can easily connect with no technical difficulties. A few years ago (2012), my Comcast cable/​internet service was down for several weeks, and I would spend hours (after work) at the library to use the Wi-​Fi and browse books and available DVDs. I understand there are also computers available for public use, but I’ve always brought my own laptop. There are small pockets, nooks and areas to study, read — or just to stare in peace at a wall, if needed. Staff are friendly and very helpful.
Windsor, CT residents can apply for their library card in person at the front desk; there’s a short applicable to fill out, and ID with Windsor address will be required to obtain the library card. For CT residents (at other towns, cities) who already have library cards at their local library, you also have Windsor library privileges. Windsor, CT residents under 18 will need a parent/​guardian (with an ID) to complete the application.

Located on the green in Windsor’s Central Business District, the WPL has been a dependable source of 2 of my library staples — music CD’s and audiobooks. Both are located on the second floor. They have lots of music CD’s in dozens of wooden stacks with pull-​out draws (which at times are a little cumbersome to read the CD titles).
The audiobooks are spread out over a few shelving units along one of the walls. They have a very large selection of good quality material here. There are nice comfy upholstered chairs peppering this part of the room if you want to sit and meditate.
It’s always been nice and quiet here, and I haven’t seen or experiences the High School riff-​raff previousy described. I usually visit the WPL at lunch or right after work.
And yes, also as previously described, the staff here is helpful and sweet as can be.
They have a drive-​in drop box to return your stuff, which comes in handy because once in a while it’s not easy to find a parking spot in their smallish lot.

Great small town public library. The (relatively) new renovations make this place awesome. I remember when it was old and slightly dungeon-​esque. The new renovations are much, much better.
