Big Tuna

So my boss assigned me the task of revamping our very old and embarrassing company web site. After looking at a lot of different options, I decided to go with Big Tuna because they had nice sample sites that were not general «cookie cutter» sites. I love the fact that they handle the maintenance and updates so I don’t have too. Getting our small business to rank better is a priority now and something that we need assistance with. We don’t have a lot of time and I love that they had writers on staff to develop all of the wording as well. The process of finding a good design team that was affordable was hard so I wanted to outline my experience and make it easier for the next person.
The entire process took about a month from start to finish and we are very pleased with the pricing and service so far. I was getting pricing from other companies that was very different, I was hesitant to go with them because it was under $ 1000 for what I was looking for. Other companies seemed to want $ 2500 — $ 5000 for the same work.
Here’s a breakdown of how it all went… along with pros and cons.
Week 1: Pay half up front then schedule a call to speak with someone in detail about everything I am looking for. Eric was very nice and was the main point of contact. He basically interviewed me about our company. They asked who our target audience was, areas we would want to rank better in, color ideas, design ideas and they set me up with an area to upload photos.
Week 2: I received a rough draft. I was very impressed! (I attached the photo below) We wanted something simple, we need a logo, we want the site to work well for the older generation that uses us alot to just do gutter cleaning. (The attached logo is just a place holder) I liked it but my boss is kind of ol’ school and wanted larger font and an area where people can easily see promos. They made the changes and we got the rough draft back in 2 days. We gave the ok to move forward.
Week 3: They developed good content, we only had a few cell phone quality pics so we used stock photos (they handled the cost) and they sent the link for us to review a final version of the site. It’s much better then we were expecting for a small place like ours. The site reflects our long history here, give people information and I feel like we finally look great when people compare us to competitors.
Week 4: We had a handful of minor revisions which were taken care of right away and we spoke with another person to set up our email and get the site live. We previously had individual AOL email accounts that weren’t the best so I love this option. They even gave me the info to hook up my iphone so I can receive new messages quickly.
The site has only been up about a week now. I have not requested any updates but I will after our first trade show so I will update this review and provide feedback on customer support.

They seem to run promotional offers that can easily discount the cost of buying the site. I received a discount because I got started in December. Ask!

I don’t understand what the negative reviews are all about, but for me, Big Tuna performed and delivered as promised, and after hosting my site for a couple of years now, they still do.
As we designed my new website together, they listened and did their best to understand what this non tech guy was trying to convey to them, and I have to say, they were very patient and extremely attentive to my requests and constant changes until I was 100% satisfied.
My site was up and running in just a couple of weeks. I regularly get great feedback and positive comments from my customers that have found my site.
Their customer service afterwards has been stellar. It’s actually very easy to get them on the phone or at least get a reply back in a very short time to get any new updates or changes added to the site.
I just got off the phone with Colin Hope from Big Tuna who helped me with an issue I was having with my email. Even though they don’t use the same email program I use, and it is not directly related to their services, Colin helped me out just the same and resolved my issue. Thanks Colin!
I would absolutely recommend Big Tuna without hesitation.

Overall I am very pleased with the product and service that I received. This is a budget option, do not expect top tier without paying for it. I am however, very grateful that this option exists because for the first time in 16 years of owning my business I needed a website to pursue new clients and it is due to a slump in our sales, i.e. no budget. I have a good understanding of how web development works and I also have design skills which was greatly beneficial to me during the development stage with Big Tuna. Getting the site launched was one thing but I give FIVE STARS to their response time on update requests. I think the service package is well worth it and I would recommend Big Tuna to other companies that are in need of a quality, budget sensitive web presence.

I have used Big Tuna for our Young Professionals website. It really provided a complete solution in growing our membership. I have also seen some of the company’s work when it comes to working with the trades in particular. Charlie, Kevin, & Brandon are very responsive and really go out of their way to make a complete solution for their clientele.

Our designer Alex and the whole team put together a great site, met all our requests, and continues to help us manage it. Folks, this company should be called BIG CATFISH WEB because thats exactly what you’lI experience is being catfished by this less than novice web designer who would prefer to work with crayons and color pencils than to code or stay current in modern and custom web designing era.
I received a solicitation from Big Tuna Web for $ 995 to design my web. I was open to trying them because my site could use a face lift. In the first stage, design (where wireframes are created), they were unable to do rudimentary designs nor were they open to fixing the work they originally did. I asked the project manager if they could provide options on some of the art work and their response was we work in bulk quantity so we are unable to provide multiply options based on the quality of work we have our staff working on.
Big tuna web is a company that DOES NOT specialize in quality but quantity. They CARE LESS about quality and more about speed. The moment they noticed I was not taking their antics, and I became unhappy with the product and their less than talented staff, they pulled the work and cancelled my order and refunded my money. I am thankful for such option although, i don’t get into business with people to demand a refund. Thankfully, I don’t have to worry about business development when they can’t even successfully deliver on the initial ASK.
I specifically asked for the skyline of new York which they refused to design and use some find of stock photo that looks retarded. They stuck the statue of liberty in the middle of a bridge and called it New York. I asked for a diversified work staff image and instead they stuck a male on my home page. Mind you, i am a woman owned business. This company could care less about your brand and your company vision and pulling it together to create Your Custom Site.
They do not specialize in graphic design or one of a kind websites. Also the wireframe they designed was copied from a Canadian website because they lack not creative depth. Click the website below and compare to the uploaded wireframe they are so proud of. Copying is how they define creativity. Good luck, I hope the Canadian company sues you as you try to pawn a copied website as your own.
Their definition of abusive language is ’ I don’t like this’ which in turn meant to them, ”we have to work longer, harder, and earn our money, this is not worth it”.
Do not use this company under any conditon if you know what’s good for you. They are novices, amatures… I also have a campaign on my site and periodically they visit my site. I guess they like to copy aspects of the site for their walmart laden 99cent websites. I wish I could send then a bag of logos cause that’s what they need to practice with before they can take on your site.
If I could give zero stars I would.

When it came to re-​doing my website I was completely overwhelmed by the task. There were so many things my site was lacking but Charlie and his amazing team took what I had on my old site, polished it up, and turned it into something that finally began to generate leads! Josh is a wonderful staff member who has a ton of patience when it comes to helping clients understand the best ways to work with their site and save time while doing it. SEO, marketing strategies, templates, they are great at what they do. Money well spent and highly recommended!

I recently contacted Big Tuna Web to design a website and I am so glad I did. This seems like a quality company that works hard to deliver a quality product. They were professional from start to finish and everyone I worked with seemed to genuinely want to design the site I was looking for while offering their own design expertise to make it even better. The whole process took about 6 weeks. I worked with Charlie on the sale and Josh and Tim helped with the site build out process. All 3 of them were easy to work with and always got back to me right away. I have already referred them to a few different people. The value was great too. I did a lot of research on different web design companies and Big Tuna Web seemed to me to have the best value for what it offered. Actually, their prices were much lower than other companies that offered the same thing. Their portfolio looked great too. I took the risk and I’m glad I did!

I’m currently working with Big Tuna Web on a website for my company. As a general contractor I don’t have a lot of time to spend on marketing, or designing a site on my own. I spoke with Big Tuna and told them what I was l was looking for, and in less than 3 weeks I’m about to set my site live on the internet. It has been a great experience and happy this has been so easy for me.
