Lee’s Tai Chi, Hapkido and Kendo School offers martial arts styles that range from the soft internal form to the more athletic external style. The essential theories of Tai Chi are integrated into all the martial arts styles offered, making the styles exceptionally adaptive and open to a wide range of ability levels.

History

Established in 1999.

Master Hoon Lee, MSOM, MBA, MS is the master instructor of Lee’s Tai Chi, Hapkido and Kendo School (Lee’s THK) and the principal acupuncturist of Master Lee’s Acupuncture.

Master Lee is a 7^th degree black belt (Grand Master) having practiced martial arts for over 45 years. His martial arts training includes Hapkido, Hwarangdo, Kendo, Tai Chi, Judo and Aikido and he continues to practice regularly as it is his philosophy that there is always something new to learn. Prior to establishing Lee’s THK in 1999, Master Lee taught martial arts at Kansas State University, YMCAs in the Chicago metropolitan area, the Northern Suburban Chinese School, Andersen Consulting and Baxter Healthcare International. Master Lee personally teaches all the classes at Lee’s THK, with the assistance of his senior students.

Business Owner

Master Lee is a 7^th degree black belt. He received his Master of Science in Oriental Medicine and BS in Nutrition with Summa Cum Laude award from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Racine, Wisconsin. He has completed advanced acupuncture training from China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in Beijing, China. Prior to his formal education, he studied acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine under Dr. Yong Sup Oh who has practiced oriental medicine for over 55 years. He is board certified in acupuncture and herbal medicine and is an Illinois licensed acupuncturist.

Beyond Master Lee’s martial arts and acupuncture training, he also holds several other graduate level degrees, including a MBA from the University of Chicago, a MS in Management Science from Northwestern University and a MS in Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University. Master Lee considers himself a life-​long learner and thoroughly enjoys sharing his knowledge with all his students and patients.
