4 star food with 1star service. Was not busy at all. What no bean sprouts for my phở? Walk 50 feet to Harris Teeter and get some. I won’t be back. Had to ask for water 2 times, had to go pick up my own silverware at the bar, asked for napkins twice. A real bummer.

Service was slow, and it wasn’t that crowded. My food(hibachi chicken and fillet) was pretty good, if a little bland. My mother had the scallops and ramen, which she was happy with. The unsweetened ice tea I had tasted old, which is a pet peeve of mine.

I was so surprised to see the negative reviews of ISE. I discovered this place a few months back and have been back several times. I have only had positive experiences. The service has been excellent, the food delicious, and the price is so affordable. 5.95 for a delicious lunch! Give this place a chance!

A month later and well it’s the same old same old. We came because it is fairly cheap, and pretty quick. I had Teriyaki Steak, substitute the carrots for the zucchini and onions, ginger sauce, order the clear soup, and a Soda. My wife had hibachi chicken, also substituted the carrots for zucchini and onions, had ginger sauce, also ordered the clear soup, and had water. The soup is extra, $ 1.50 per soup, but sometimes they have combo deals where it comes with the meal. This all came to twenty dollars and change after tax! Plus we were out of there in next to no time and went next door to the Dollar tree, and got back to work on time! My only complaint today was the service. The lady that sat us took our drink orders, and quickly appeared with them. My wife ordered first, and the lady asked her lots of questions with all the options. So off to a great start. She then she took my order. I asked for the Teriyaki steak, she asked how I wanted it cooked, and started to walk away as if I was done. I kept talking, and she stepped back to the table, and told her I wanted to substitute the carrots for the zucchini and onions. She then again started to walk away. I kept talking, and said I wanted the ginger sauce instead of the white sauce, and yet she tried to walk away as if I was done. I finally told her I also wanted to order the clear soup, again it is an extra item. My wife looked at me to make sure it wasn’t just here that thought it was very odd. Not sure as to why she asked all the questions of my wife, but then kept trying to cut me short. I was wearing a blue shirt, maybe it was that… otherwise no clue! The soup quickly came out, very good as always, they honestly have some of the better clear soup I have had. It isn’t watered down, it has lots of flavor in it, though it was VERY hot today. The food took longer then normal to come out, I am guessing it was my steak as I normally have chicken. I have to say the steak was cooked amazingly, not under cooked, not over cooked just the way I like it and ordered it. I gave a 3 stars last time because the food was Ok… not great, but not far from being bad. Today I would have given 4 stars as the food was very good today, but the service was odd, and not the best I have had at ISE. I of course will be back!

If you want some quick, good Japanese food — go here. Sushi is pretty good. Service is great. Everyone who works here is super sweet and will go out of your way to make sure you are satisfied. I definitely recommend.

Poor service. Ordered three pieces of nigiri sushi and the waitress brought two different rolls. After informing the waitress she argued with us about what we ordered and then we were ignored for 5 – 10 minutes. Great place if you want to wait 35 minutes for three pieces of sushi. Manager was not helpful and neither were the argumentative staff. 10⁄10 will not be back.

An Americanized Japanese menu that would be unrecognizable to anyone familiar with real Japanese food. Bland food, poorly cooked. Will never go back, which is a shame as it’s close. Service was good but couldn’t make up for the terrible food.

This place sucks and I wouldn’t recommend my dog to eat the food here! My daughter and I went into this restaurant to have a little sushi, and we met a friend there. It was my first time in this restaurant, but my girlfriend had been there before. The wait staff was ok until she started to be rude and disrespectful. For starters there was no one in this restaurant, not busy at all! There was maybe one person at the bar and 1 younger girl that look like she may work there, but other than that empty. There wasn’t really any customers in this restaurant so that probably should have told me how good their food was. I would give this resturant a zero but Unilocal won’t allow it. There hot shot roll is the worst thing ever, my daughter ordered it and the sushi was not fresh in it she tried one piece out of the 8 piece roll and did not want it because it wasn’t good. We asked the waiter if we could exchange it for something else or have her take itoff of our receipt because it just wasn’t good but she refused to accommodate us. she tells us” maybe you’re just too full and you probably ordered too much food. But the sushi was brown instead of peach. She insist upon saying that the food was good and that there was nothing wrong with it. She argued back and forth with us and made the experience very negative. The server even took her phone out and started taking pictures of us. Then when we caught her and told her that it’s illegal to take some one’s photo without their permission, she tried to to lie about doing it. She even called the other location to ask the manager if she could refund our $ 10.95 back for the hot s*** roll an made a big deal about it instead of just refunded my money anyway. We paid for everything else that we ate but her attitude was the worst I had ever experienced in my life, I will never return here I would never refer anybody here, their food is not fresh the service is poor as f*** and my friend got sick the next day from shrimp tempura… The biggest Waste of money ever!!!

This place just can’t recover since the raid on Stratford happened to Ishi’s and the head cook staff went bye bye. Regardless of the name change, regardless of the relocation and regardless of the new mgmt, the headliner, i.e. the food, just can’t make a comeback. I recall the good ol’ days when getting a tasty lunch at a good price was the norm *sigh*. Fast forward today and even the signature teriyaki chkn dish tastes mediocre. I’m also disappointed with the salad/ginger dressing and the spring roll(which is now a greasy). BUMMER!

Awful. Clean and new inside is no hint of the awful food. I ordered jumbo steak and shrimp hibachi but they did not have any jumbo shrimp. The server was confused by the order and I had to show her the menu. Jusy as I suspected the regular shrimp were awful and rubbery and fishy. The rice was mushy. Steak was okay. Broccoli in the mix was good. But there was a sweet teriyaki like sauce on top which was not mentioned on the menu and something I have never experienced when ordering hibachi. I had 3 sauces on the side, a shrimp sauce, a mustard, and a ginger. I have never had mustard or ginger sauce be sweet. They were awful. I could not eat them, the mustard was more like honey mustard than your typical mustard sauce at a hibachi. I took the shrimp to go to give a stray cat I feed downtown and she would not eat them either.

Decent sushi, but slightly overpriced. Have eaten there a few times and gotten orders to go. I wish they had lunch specials to make some of their small portions more affordable. I would go back because it is convenient and pretty good sushi.

This place was okay, I am not in a rush to go back but wouldn’t not go back either. We went in for dinner on a weeknight and the restaurant wasn’t too busy maybe five tables or so for at least two waitstaff. But the service was slacking. Things would come out slowly, water would be left unfilled, you would sit for a while trying to get a to-go box. Maybe this happened because this is newly opened the staff isn’t trained well, but when you are standing there chatting when people need help I think that is just poor form. We got the shrimp tempura roll, which was decently priced, although not a ton of shrimp in there. The steak hibachi was okay, and the crab rangoons were what you would expect.

The rolls have little sushi but lots of cold mushy rice. Every roll tastes the same bland and unpalatable. SKIPTHISPLACE!!!

Awful service. The place was dead and our waitress acted like the place was packed. Worse sushi I ever had. Food wasn’t good. Will never eat here again. Only go to the one on Stratford.

Meh. Inattentive and inexperienced staff. The sushi was bland and the cuts left something to be desired. I wouldn’t ward people away, but I can’t imagine under what circumstances I would recommend it.
