Showcase Laundromat

Dirty dirty dirty.
Mold/​algae growing between the panes of glass on the $ 6.25 washers. The smaller $ 4.25 washers have signs that clearly say, «do not use more than ¼ cup of detergent». I used ½ cap of detergent (which is far less than ¼ cup) and the Sunday afternoon attendant told me that I used too much, and that’s why the spin cycle didn’t work for me. She scolded me for about 5 mins, «it’s your fault, ok? your fault. your fault, ok?» but then gave me $ 4.25 to run the cycle again. When I came back, she scolded me again, «you use too much. your fault, ok?». I really wanted to slap her. When I put my clothes in the drier, there was a distinct scent of rotten eggs. It could have been the patrons hanging out, but who knows for sure. They should update their signs and teach their staff to be less scolding & repetitive

One of the better laundromats I’ve been to. It’s situated on a very busy intersection so it’s easy to locate. It’s not a big establishment but they make very good use of the space as there are a lot of machines to choose from. That coupled with the fact that there usually aren’t a lot of patrons makes it a good place to go do laundry. I believe because it’s located in a small rural town where everyone most likely has their own washer/​dryer, it’s rarely used.
The only gripe I have about it is the fact that there is limited parking and they share their small parking lot with a restaurant next door. There are times when I couldn’t get a spot so I just had to drive away and that’s why they lose a star.

I used this laundromat for a year and a half. The attendants have always been helpful. It has recently been taken over by new ownership. Half of the dryers don’t work. There are no signs saying out of order. You put your money in and either feel to see if the dryer is heating up or find that after 30 minutes your clothes are still as wet. I called on New Years weekend to see if they would be open. I was told yes and given their hours. After I trekked there with my laundry they were closed. No signs on the door stating that thu were closed, just a locked door. The new owner seems to think he bought a vending machine. Just takes quarters and doesn’t keep up the place. If you want frustration every time you do your laundry then this is the place to go. If you want to do your laundry and go home then look elsewhere. I have found a great place in East Boston and will now be going there. No more quarter slots for me at Showcase!

I take back my previous review. I am never going here again. I hope the owner reads this because you know what buddy IF YOUR MACHINESE DON’T WORK FIX THEM OR TELL PEOPLE. It is STEALING to over and over again have people go here and ¾’s of the machines don’t work and your attendant just blinks and walks away when it is brought to her attention. This is the last time you are getting another nickel out of me. Week after week a machine doesn’t wash or dry my clothing and you do nothing about it. The time before this one my clothes were literally soaking wet and it was not until I started pulling them out of the machine and wringing them out on the floor in front of everyone that the attendant would give me a refund. Was that childish, yup, but I am not being ripped off again and if that is what it took oh well. Today after yet another dryer didn’t work I had to stop 3 more people from using it because the attendant refused to put an out of order sign on it like there is on more than half the machines already. I think you do this intentionally and it is dishonest.

Finally! After living in a variety of apartments for 11 years, I’ve had quite the evil relationship with laundromats. Basically I hate them, they hate me. So when I first went to Showcase, I expected much of the same. Then I met Tai — laundromat owner extraordinaire. He’s a great person, nice, quick, and knows how to keep a laundromat working and clean.
I’ve never had to wait to wash or dry my clothes, even when the place is packed during laundromat-​rush hour. The prices are reasonable. And when I’ve had a problem with the machines, Tai, or his equally awesome wife, are always there to help.
And then Showcase went and did another one-​up: they started dry-​cleaning. Yippee! And at a cheaper cost then their competitors across the road.
And…they stocked the coolers with red-​bull at a better price (then the competitors across the road) for my b-​f who works around the corner. Now how cool is that?

If this place weren’t here, I’d be forced to go to the Laundromax in Revere and I don’t like it there.
Showcase is small but it has big washers and cheap dryers, and is very clean. I have never been walked in on while using the potty and they sell cans of coke and have magazines lying around for light reading while you wait or you could also watch CSI or other network programing on the tv’s. It’s never super busy, unless you go on a Sunday afternoon (parents getting kids clothes washed for school on Monday.) Not to mention that there’s a little Greek take out place next door and a Bank of America, gas station and a Dunkin Donuts across the street. Plenty to keep you occupied while your clothes get clean.

I went here for the first time today, and I had an excellent experience. It’s a busy laundromat, but I didn’t have to wait for machines. I had a laundry basket and two large bags of laundry — I hadn’t washed towels or sheets for awhile, as the washer at my apartment is tiny — and someone was right there to help me carry everything in from my car so that I only had to make one trip. I would give service the highest rating possible — there was always someone there to answer my questions, and the employees were all super-​polite.
Pricing is as follows:
$ 10.25 per load for the 80lb washers,
$ 7.50 per load for the 50lb washers,
$ 5.75 per load for the 35lb washers, and
$ 0.25 to dry if you wash there (technically, you get «free» drying with your load, but the 25 cents is an «activation fee»).
Washing took about a half hour per load, even in the 80lb. machines, and drying was 38 minutes per cycle.
There are also vending machines for laundry detergent, soda, water, Vitamin Water, and energy drinks. There are huge change machines that will give you quarters in exchange for bills in any denomination up to $ 20, so if you don’t have enough you can always run across the street to the Bank of America ATM.
They also sell detergent and other washing necessities, Boston-​themed hats and shirts, and lottery/​scratch tickets! They have wash/​dry/​fold service — it costs $ 1 per pound and the minimum is $ 10. And they offer dry cleaning.
I have no complaints. However, watch out for your drying clothes and keep an eye on your laundry baskets — it’s rumored throughout the laundromat that things get stolen relatively often.

This is THE BEST laundromat. Washers are the standard price, but dry only requires a 25 cents activation fee good for 38 minute, and the dryers are so hot it takes less.
They also handle dry cleaning, long sleeve shirts are only $ 1.99! Short sleeve polos are more, I am told that they require MORE MANUAL LABOR.
